...Cooking Mama 2 (DS)

She said she was bored so I offered for her to play Cooking Mama (don't judge me for owning this) so she did, and in the middle of 'making' Peanut Butter, she put it down and said she didn't like it and was afraid of it, when prompted why she essentially told me it was too intense lol.

And before anyone says, "Why would you laugh at your mom!?" or something along those lines, it was funny, she wasn't crying or deeply traumatized or anything.

But anywho, I just wanted to tell my story, but to add to this discussion, has anyone got their parents/anyone to play a videogame and/or do something else and what was their initial reaction?

*Note: I know this pertains to a videogame, but it's not really about the video game so I put it here rather then the gaming board, so I'm not sure if it's in the right place.

lol. one day like 8years ago i came home to my mom in my room playing Mario Kart on the N64 on the wrong channel, so it was all blurry and crazy lookin. She was going the wrong way and using princess peach. Ill always remember that day because i found it hilarious.

I've been teaching my mom how to play Final fantasy. FFXIII rocks her socks off right now. She's like a little kid being all amazed at the graphis and screaming at the monster she's fighting. She hasn't even made it past the first chapter XD

She also plays Tekken and does it well XD She can whip anyone 12 and under in Tekken :P

My mum was a legend on Tekken and Columns hahaha

And for some reason Ecco the Dolphin, it's the only game she has ever really played, and she proper got into it as well, the control pad was knackered and she had to play it like, constantly freezing, it was irtritating to fuck, but she was like, addicted, it was brilliant

I'm ashamed to say she outdid me on that as well, I just could not do Ecco

I once challenged my dad on a Pro Evolution Soccer match on PS2, it took quite the time to convince him and so he did challenge me, after a while when I sometime wake up after midnight I see him play PES in secret. XD

My mum was the person that first introduced me to final fantasy.
In fact, I think the copy of FFX we have actually belongs to her, although the rest are mine.
I remember watching her playing FFVIII when I was about 7, and she told me I was too young to play it, but when I was about 9 my mum got FFIX and let me play it :monster:
Now I'm better at them than she is.
Both my parents are gamers, they spend more time on the PS2 than I do. We have 2 PS2s between 3 of us :monster:

My mum was ace at Ecco the Dolphin as well Kel, when we used to have a sega megadrive. And micro machines and columns :lew: the only thing I was better than her at was sonic the hedgehog.

maybe now that I'm a mum, I'l be able to master Ecco :rage:

Seriously, she was a demon at that game, how she never got into anything else is beyond me

My dad was always a bit of a gamer as well, I gave him my mega drive, got a new one, and my ex took that, bad times ]:

I used to love Ecco the Dolphin (the PS2 one not the original) as a kid, but I remember not being able to follow the story or even get passed the first level since I had no idea what you were supposed to do, but I do remember swimming around and doing flips and stuff and being totally satisfied with the game. I recently got the games (the 1st and 2nd) again and all I have to say is 'what'?

Aliens stealing all the dolphins and humans?
The aliens kind of look like something out of Alien.
In the future dolphins can fly!
In the future dolphins are telepathic!

But on an unrelated note to Ecco, I'm surprised that people have gamer parents, since none of my friends parents like playing video games AT ALL. Well, except one, who neglects and ignores her family to play WoW since she doesn't like things IRL, but that doesn't really count, or at least I don't think so.

My mum isn't a gamer and she never was. She just has zero interest in videogames and normally refuses to try any of them. In fact, she probably stigmatises videogames actually. She saw me play Resident Evil 2 once and quickly raised her voice, asking me what on earth I was playing. She did have a go at Wii Sports once, for a tennis match. It didn't last though. She gave up after 10 minutes calling it pointless rubbish. :wacky:

My dad though, was a keen gamer back when we still had the SNES and the N64. At the time he was a massive Mario and Zelda enthusiast. He would go through each and every level in Super Mario World with a fine comb to try and get everything there is. And I was actually astounded by how good he was. After all those hundreds of hours in SMW, I wasn't surprised that he could play it so well. He also introduced me to the Zelda games. Final Fantasy baffles him greatly though. He's mostly given up on gaming now.

Here I come expecting u to say "I scared my mom with....My penis!! :gasp: " , but u ppl talking about video games? :hmmm:

Anyway, When we had a Sega my dad used to play Soccer in the midnight when we were sleeping, that idiot didn know that we were watching him. He was actually afraid from mom...What a puss he was :hmmm:
