I don't think it helps the way the news media reports things. It always has to be sensationalist and full of fear-mongering.

"A man was struck by a passing vehicle today. COULD YOU BE NEXT?"

Someone got murdered where I now live back in the 90's and my mother in law had a friend that was constantly terrified that she was next. She would call her at all hours telling her she was afraid to go to bed, etc. It really gets ridiculous.
 
Yeah but Alex Mason if this guy has a gun on you you can't just John Wayne ur gun on him and blow his head off before he does anything chances are if u pull it he's gonna squeeze especially if he was gonna murder you anyway.
 
not if he has a gun pointed at your head. the chances of you being able to do anything are very slim at best. i walk in the steets all the time and i've never been raped and/or murdered.
 
i'm sure we all like to think we've got reactions as fast as bruce lee's, but we dont. you also have a chance to miss the guy and accidentally kill someone else. which you will not have without a gun.

a swift boot to the coinpurse should do the trick.

and with that im off to bed. i hope no one breaks in while im sleeping and tries to rob the place or rape me. luckily i have a screwdriver sitting on my bedside cabinet. i will plunge that directly into the other man's hand (aka into his skull). goodnight and elohim bless.
