How did you first pronounce Tifa?

I pronounced it Tih-fa, and I agree about the English lack of sense. :P I don't quite understand how it became Tee-fa but back then I didn't have a computer to read up the Japanese original translation. I also never thought of it being short for Tiffany, I just sounded it like that. Unfortunately, FFVII:AC fixed up the confusion.

The only game left to know how to pronounce names is FFT.:shame:

I believe I've always pronounced it as "Tee-fa". The other way of pronouncing it, like Tiffany, sounds awkward to me.

Off topic: I know for a fact I've been pronouncing Cait Sith wrong all these years. I still don't know how to pronounce it to this day.

tih-fa

i thought tee-fa sounded a bit like something a homosexual or a paedophile might say. just like aeris is aeris and not aerith. i dont care how the jappo-knees say it, im not speaking jappo-knees, i'm speaking english.

now you :toni:

I've always called her Tee-fa. I always thought that was the normal way to say it. Ehh, I never really thought much of it. If it's wrong than whoops. The other way people have said it sounds kinda weird IMO.

Tee-fa. I did pronounce Barret as Ber-et (like a hair barrette)though for the longest time. My friends laughed at me at that...

I started out with calling her "Tiff-uh", but since playing the game and being on this forum have conditioned myself to call her only "Teef-uh" out of habit now. I did the same for Tidus in FFX.

i could never decide between tifuh and teefa

i feel like id used teefa more, but it wasnt really something i was concerned about

Tee-fa, never had trouble with any of the names in this game. I was afraid AC would ruin some of it, but not even Sephiroth was butchered. I was genuinely worried they were gonna say

"So, Cloud... remember that trouble we had with Seph-eye-roth?"

I was so so worried...

by the way, nice thread necro. Bitchin'...
