Gong Xi Fa Cai! I am in Singapore, and I finished watching the countdown in Chinatown about 37 minutes ago. It's also the Year of the Ox. (Im a piggy T-T)

So, any resolutions??

uhmm well no seeing as i dont celebrate chinese new year, me being scottish and all
Anyway what like was the celebration? Id imagine they put on a pretty amazing show there? Loadsa fireworks and performers and such?

I don't celebrate it much either, me being Greek and all ;) But it was pretty cool, just the Chinese lighting their many fireworks and singing songs in their rather interesting costumes. Gotta love it! :)

I actually thought the Chinese New Year was in April sometime, or is that their Christmas? I figure it'd be a pretty big celebration over there, but never really heard much of it.

I did have Chinese food yesterday though, so my resolution would be to eat there more before I head into the Air Force in April.

Mazah-tah.

I think I waA born in the year of the dog, annoying really seeing as I don't like dogs xD

Anyhoo, happy Chinese New Year!!!

I've never understood why other cultures have these kinds of holidays at different times in the year - shouldn't the new year be the same for everyone in the world, only changing for those in different time zones? :wacky: I'm not bashing, by the way, I'm genuinely curious.

I only noticed that it was the Chinese New Year when the local take-away was closed over a period of two days. xD I suppose I take my hat off to them, in a weird way, for being so attached to their culture so far away from their home that they can celebrate an event on their own, really.

I was thinking the same thing :gasp: Doesn't make sense to start it on the 26th =\ I could maybe see if it was on the 1st of a month, but its not even the first day of a month =\ Never really understood it.
