The opera singer who appears in the Go Compare adverts has reportedly signed a £450,000 deal to continue the role.

Wynne Evans has appeared as tenor Gio Compario in seven commercials for the price-comparison website. However, The Sun claims that the 38-year-old only signed the deal after agreeing not to lose weight.

"There is a well-trodden path of big celebs getting famous and being unable to resist the vanity of losing weight," a source told the paper. "It was integral that the ad character, Gio Compario, retained his egg shape, so it was put in his contract."

Evans, who has signed a six-album deal with Warner Music, recently revealed that he will release his debut album in March.

Haha, he's not agreed to lose weight? As weird as this sounds, I think it's damn right hilarious in a sad way. :lew:

The annoying fuck needs to get off the TV entirely, the adverts aren't even catchy, they're just annoying to the extreme. If he agrees to intentionally not lose weight then that's his problem, he's the sort of person that should be made to pay mass amounts of money for straining the healthcare system. Why is he brining out an album as well, he can't sing. -.-

I hate that advert. I know a lot of people I know love it to death, but I can't stand it either. In fact, the recent one with the antique black and white feel to it was a huge improvement because I don't have to hear his fucking voice in it. It's probably going to get even more irritating now as he has an album in the pipelines. No doubt it's going to gather quite a fanbase, though I'm just going to ignore it completely. I hate the guy's voice. If he doesn't want to do anything about his weight, then all power to him. As Ryan has eloquently put it, just don't be a burden on the NHS like a lot of other people though. :mokken:

That guy is a fucking pain in the arse :hmph:

The whole idea of people singing a catchy tune and adding in their companies name is so old and boring. This one was never amusing though. Just iritating. He should re-consider it though as hes a fat bastard and that must be hurtin his legs.

Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, the advert must be liked by most, or at least have that 'love to hate' appeal to it. He's being asked to keep his shape, which beats being told told to become/remain a stick figure, and he's laughing all the way to the bank, and if I was in his shoes I'd be doing the same.

Though I gotta admit, the weight thing being in his country doesn't exactly shock me, the guy's weight is one of the most notable things about the character, and needless to say an iconic trait of opera singers. I think I remember hearing somewhere that their weight is to help them pull of notes or sing like they do or something along them lines. And it ain't exactly rare to be told to keep within a certain weight, nearly all roles on TV requires the actor/actress to weigh a certain amount, I don't see why that was worth adding to the article.
