I have wondered if it is possible to kill Geosgaeno on the first encounter with him. Perhaps by using an Action Replay or modifying your save-game somehow, granting you impossible stats. If it were in theory possible to do this, I am wondering what would happen when it dies and whether it would break the game...
 
I'm not sure if I remember right....Geosgaeno is the monster that you first encounter in the Zanarkand ruins at the beginning of the game, right?

No. He's shortly after that; the monster with the exposed skeleton-belly in the water outside of the Baaj temple.
 
Oh! That's the one I was thinking of. I knew he had a cage for a belly. ^.^
I don't think it's possible without cheating. Up until that point in the game, you really don't have the opportunity to level up...at all. o.0
 
I don't see why you can't use a cheat to kill him in one hit or w/e.

I seriously doubt that it would change the fact he chases you afterward.

You can choose to finish him off later in the game, don't forget.
 
It's probably possible to kill him with a cheat code, but it's impossible otherwise. You only have to hit him 3 times and the battle ends, so...
 
i tried this before it didnt work hes easy enough later though you only need to use 3 dark matters...
 
I wouldn't waste my dark matters on him....

I'm sure it would be impossible to kill him on the first encounter without cheating & I wouldn't see the point in doing it that way anyway. It's just one of those things that you can't control I suppose...
 
after you do a certain amount of health to him he tries to eat ya and u escape into the wall
the only way to kill it is to wait untill you can go bk there and kill it then
 
It is but you have to cheat majorly. You can kill him in 1 hit by raising your strength or lowering his HP if you have a gameshark or something... But without cheating or hacking no, it's not possible.

I think the guy who made the thread is wondering what would happen if you kill Geosgaeno with the cheats, like if the game would freeze of just go glitchy, not is it possible to kill him with/without cheats.
 
Storywise it would give you entrance to the Baaj temple, but you can't really do anything there since you haven't visted any temples yet.

You will also loose the dialogue uttered by Tidus and Wakka when they return in the airship.

You get Lulu's Onion Knight (in a chest) after Geosageno is beaten after you return in the airship.

That event can easily disappear if you beat him the first time, and then you'll loose a celestial weapon.

Id be LIVID if i doged all the fecking lightning bolts only for the onion knight not to be there O.O I can safely say I never have, & never will cheat - just for fear of something like that happening
 
If you use an action replay disc YES you can defeat him in one hit! And you do not have to fight him when you return to the Baaj temple later on. It does not bugger your game but for some reason the Onion Knight dissapears.....
 
It is impossible to beat without cheating.

It's like one of those battles like Saix said that you have to him him so many times or take off so much HP and he just "goes away".

Think about other games that include this method as well: Beatrix in FFIX; Gilgamesh in FFV...

You take off so much, they realize they are low on health, and they live to face you another day.
 
I don't think so. In the first encounter, every hit he does takes half your health away, and after your third action, he decides you look tasty, and you get a cutscene.
Later, you return after putting a code into the airship, defeat Geosgangeo, and if you got all six secret treasures in the temples, you can get Anima.

I don't know much at all about cheating, but I'm guessing that unless the game was made with a possible sideline (beating Geosgangeo first time), it's pretty much impossible without reprogramming the entire game or something.

Im pretty sure you cant because i could barley beat it later in the game lol... It'lll kill you so quickly with its KO Punch lol...
