Okay, so I looked and found things similar for other sections but nothing for our beloved gaming clans that do nothing but sit on there asses all day. I was wondering why that section was dead, and thought maybe it was because there was never any actual competitions set up. Not pointing any fingers at you mods. Just sayin'. :pockets: I don't have anything either, don't ban me. :sad2:

  • I saw lots of ideas inside of the Tantalus section, but isn't that a problem? Where is the suggestion for the clans to come together and cook up ideas? Perhaps some kind of General Chat like the graphics clans have or even something as simple as a suggestion thread in the arena that both clans can access. Maybe this can spur a little more activity amongst us.
  • Like I linked in the first paragraph, the SotW has points rewards now. Is it possible for the Arena to get such a backing as well? Take a tally on how many people own a certain number of games and rotate them each week for competitive reasons. Not everyone can participate in every competition because of this, but it isn't as simple as the GFX section. I'm not saying the idea is bullet proof, but I'm really kind of done seeing that section of the forum neglected while GFX is constantly added upon. Yes, I'm hating on it. That's life.

I realize games are a matter of actual money, but that is why there is a tally on how many people own a particular game. When a member feels a game is growing in popularity they can post in the our newly created general talk/suggestion thread to have it added to the rotation list, and people who own it can bump in. If it's high enough, as long as you hold onto your game you're fine. If you get rid of your game, then you're just reducing the games popularity and removing it from the active list
  • Establishing a common time is hard to do with everyone on such a global scale, but everyone seems to find a way to work around it to play with each other at the end of the day. I'm sure we can work something out if effort was set into it. Try and find as close to a middle ground as possible. Early Saturday night for most of our UK brethren is Saturday afternoon for us US toadstools. That doesn't sound like a horrible time for either party to me.
  • Wagers are something we might also be able to bring in with the addition of the points (or gil, whatever you wanna call it you Triple Triad bastards). We don't need the FFFbank for everything we are doing, but this would be an interesting way to encourage competition and livelihood inside of the clans. I'd imagine there is a rule somewhere about gambling, I don't have a clue if there is. If this violates it, screw it. If not, why not let us gamers bet against each other in particular competitions using our points? Things like our weekly (or bi-weekly, if there are issues) clan competitions could have side bets with a predetermined bank account to hold the pot. We could also made our personal wagers (something like your callout scoreboard in the GFX section) into our own personal goals. A new game comes out, first to plat or reach a certain rank/level gets the pot. It could have a lot of fun potential.
All in all, I'm just hoping to spark up activity into gaming. Given the entire forum is founded on games, maybe we should show a little more love to that section.

hmmmmm i would be up to this.... i dn if your aware but recently i ran a skills comp over at the dissidia club :awesome: was very intresting

well if we could get enough people we could run or own little leauge :D

I had no idea, was it a success?

I'm just hoping the gaming section gets some momentum. The section needs more than idle chatter. :wacky:

at the time only two people could upload... but now i got a few more members it should be... they enjoyed themselves which is what comps should be all about

i think doing something with COD would be a good idea because i know a lot of people play that from being in the shoutbox :D or pokemon.. a lot of people play pokemon :D

EDIT: how about just having two clans just like the graphics.. like a xbox and playstation one or something to that sense

Just dont leave out Mario Kart or Super smash bros. and Im all for this idea =p

I dont see much Wii Love but then again the wii is mostly kiddy games =/ If it does happen im sooooo gonna try to get a PS3

I think the reason that the two clans aren't having competitions with each other is mostly due to the fact that most members of Tantalus prefer to play single-player games, but will have a discussion playthrough with each other. At least that's what I was informed by some of the members there. Cruxis is filled with members who can't get enough of online gaming and are more on the multi-player side of things. So it's really hard to come up with something that will work for both sides. I'm sure it's very possible, but for the most part it's kinda difficult to set up something that will actually pull through. For instance, what kind of challenges would be held that'll be on fair grounds for both clans? I'm not sure how many members in Tantalus play online, but the games would have to match what Cruxis members also play with.

Hmm, I'm sure if we give it enough thought, we can come up with something so that points may be given, but I'm not exactly sure about this particular suggestion. :hmmm: I can't really see a competition based on owning certain amount of games than others here. Unless I'm not fully grasping what you meant here. :lew: Honestly I had to read it a few times for it to make some sense...but the idea of a "rotation list" kinda threw me off.

One thing I can think of is somewhere along the lines of achievements/trophies - this way, both single and multi-players can join. Don't have any details yet, but I would imagine it'd be similar to the annual Achievements/Trophies competitions during Birthweek. Except strictly more clan-based.

Betting against each other is fine. Not sure how well this might work out though since you'll need at least a couple members in each clan to buy the game first for there to be a competition, but if it works, then sure go for it. :)

If there's others that have fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, etc. that can be useful for the "betting" deal. Member A of Cruxis vs Member B of Tantalus..."Who will win? Place your bet". I don't know, something simple like that is another alternative.

Not everything has to be T vs CX. Our weekly competitions can be every man for themselves, sort of like the SotW. An entire clan vs clan would be very difficult because of the imbalance you pointed out, and you're right. Tantalas has more singleplayer people than multiplayer people, but us multiplayer T memebers do exist. :wacky: Untill we figure out a decent Clan vs Clan challenge, it would be nice to at least see some actual activity is all I'm saying.

I'm not saying we should have a competition to see who can buy the most games, that'd be a horrible thing to win IMO :P I meant more of the lines of something like this: Three games are set up to receive votes into a list of games that our competitions will rotate each week. Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2 can be said titles. Enough people own Black Ops and Red Dead Redemption for it to be allowed into our list, but only a handfull of people own Uncharted so it will sadly not be added. Week one, the challenge is centered on Black Ops then week two it is Red Dead Redemption. Rinse and repeat untill new games are added, or the player base declines too low.

As far as trophies go, we could have either personal bets or even a competition to see who can reach a certain level or trophy first. I would imagine this is a game many of us have preordered.

Does that help at all? :pockets:

It's also hard because most people here have a PS3, and it seems that those that have the 360 are either never on at the same time or don't have the same games to play online.

Sounds like a good idea though.

That makes more sense. :)

Just curious, can you give me an example as to what kind of challenges you'd be expecting when you mentioned this:

Week one, the challenge is centered on Black Ops then week two it is Red Dead Redemption.

Just trying to iron out the ideas here. I would imagine that both clans would have to start communicating to see how things should play out. :hmmm:

General Chat. You know you wanna, etc etc :wacky:

We could obviously tailor details to better fit the girth of our player base for said competitions. Details would alter per game, but there is no reason we could not get creative.

There is the ever obvious death match, or team death match. One match would really be pretty short and weak, so it might be best to average together amounts. Collecting scores would be a pain so another option would be to have a score keeper in the match. Said score keeper can record the top three and average together scores after whatever set amount of rounds. First could be worth 3 points, second 2 and third 1. This is just a rough draft still, so it could use improvement.

Capture the flag style games, best two out of three with set teams. Whatever team wins, plays a final free for all to determine the single winner. Or maybe the winner can even be determined by the amount of captures.

Co-op games are not ruled out either. If each game has a nuetral time keeper, we could do speed runs of games. Also, for games that have survival modes we can have a competition who can survive the most rounds.

Fighting games (MK, anyone?) have the obvious tournament style competition we can do.

To be honest, though, this all entirely from a PS3 owner's perspective. People with games such as Pokemon or whatever are free to set up their own guidelines and set the games in rotation. I have no idea how Wii, DS or PSP games work so I cannot give you valid suggestions for these things.

PSP you could things like fight comp for tekken/blazblue... dissidia would be very good for comp as well XD I seen other forums do dissidia comp and even posted their matchs on youtube and with duodecim you could do things like singles. team, double etc

for DS you could do different things with pokemon for example single, double matchs etc

You're free to create a general chat thread in Gold Saucer and have it act as a 'meeting place' between Tantalus and Cruxis. From there, you guys can start planning things out with other members (doesn't have to be from the opposite clan, as you said). When it comes to posting the rules and regulations for challenges and competitions, use the Battle Square for this. But all in all it's really up to how you guys want to set this up. When it comes to points and winners, let me know and we can do something about that. :)

I like this idea..I would like to set up something with BO and MK on ps3..Also I think there should be more clans than just 2...
