Nintendo Fun facts about Nintendo

Being a person to have his first great game system be the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), I found these statistics to be really awesome, thanks for posting this link, Rydia. :ryan: I remember the cereal from way back in the day, it was good too.

The stats that stood out to me the most were the fact that the Wii is the highest selling system of all time (which I find ironic, considering there is a thread in this section saying that it's a dying system :lew:), which undoubtedly shuts up all the 360 and PS3 fanboys. And the other being the fact that the Pokemon franchise outsells the Zelda franchise. Personally, I find that hard to believe because Zelda has been around for so long. But interesting, nonetheless.

I've actually not all that surprised on the whole Pokemon > Zelda thing. Zelda may have been around for nearly ten years longer than Pokemon, but Zelda only has 16 games. Pokemon has 19 (including up and coming Black and White), and that's just the main series. Including spin offs, Dungeon and Ranger games.... Pokemon has 52. :monster:

am i to understand that there is a pokemon for NES? also, i just moved, and right before doing so my stepdad threw out Super Mario 3 for the NES...he said PacMan is the only game he likes so that's all he thought to keep. I guess PacMan is good enough to be optimistic about :)

Pokemon has 52. :monster:

Pokemon has 1 game that's been recycled 52 times. :monster:

"Nintendo Hard" doesn't even begin to describe some of those games. They were just ridiculous.

I've been playing a few NES games recently. Dragon Warrior IV, Solstice (one of the "Nintendo Hard" qualifiers. -__-), and Bubble Bobble, to name a few.

Well technically Pokemon has 1 game that's been recycled 19 times, another game that's been recycled 8 times, another recycled 3 times... and then a shit load that don't make sense and/or are completely different from the original game... :wacky:

How is Bubble Bobble hard? D=

My ears just died a little :sad3:

And since when was the encounter rate THAT diabolically low? -__-

Also, i'm shocked on some of those facts, like Wii being ftw and Pokemon>Zelda :hmmm:

Quite ironic in a way, that a casual based console is outselling consoles designed for more devoted gamers :hmmm:

Also, Mario ftw :ryan:

I really enjoy reading fun facts like this. The real data clears away all popular misconceptions.

I guess the pokemon > zelda thing shouldn't be all that surprising. I remember pokemon was massive in the 90s... it was on the TV all the time and almost every person I knew had a pokemon card collection. Zelda didn't stretch as far as that.

oops ahaha I am retarded and posted the exact thing up as well. anyway, i found it to be really interesting and I love seeing the wii doing so well. It annoys me when people knock it!

Just a slight correction there, it did say that the Wii surpassed the NES as best selling Nintendo console, the PS2 on the other hand still remains the best selling console of all-time.

Also, though I'm no anti-Nintendo, pro-Sony/Microsoft zealot, Nintendo could only generate that sort of revenue for Mario, Pokémon and Zelda is through excessive whoring, with Mario obviously being the biggest whore of them all, what a slut.

NES brings so much memories that i have played with my brother :D.
[EDIT] Sorry for double posting to this thread my internet connection and my computer is too slow. I'm really sorry.

LOL, sadly that's true. They put out new ones at least once each year, it's really no surprise that they sell a bunch of them to poor fans.

Of course, Square does the same thing. :holyshit:

While I know the Wii isn't perfect, it does annoy me when people do that, the Anti-Wii gamers. >.> There are just so many really fun games for it, and heck the graphics are definitely not as bad as some people would make it out to be.

But yeah, this is nice to know, I am definitely a big fan of Nintendo, so to see it is going strong is really good, their next generation system should, I admit, focus mostly on a big graphical upgrade to get it much more up to par with the others, in that area, as it is a weak point when the Wii is pitted against the other consoles of the current generation.

And when a portable system is getting to be stronger than the Wii, that is a bit sad, but it's games are full of good fun, and there are quite a few games that are great to play in multiplayer with others, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Kart Wii. :D

Nintendo does overdo the Mario spin-offs WAY to much. he has about 20 sports games and 8 Mario Parties! At least having a crapload to many games in your favorite series is better than HAVING NINTENDO RELEASE ONE FREAKING GAME IN YOUR FAVORITE SERIES OUTSIDE OF JAPAN! (Please excuse yet another Earthbound rant)

I mean, the Mother series is so popular in Japan, it rivals the Pokemon series! It's Nintendo's own fault the game didn't sell any where else. They advertise every other game pretty well, but making the slogan, "This Game Stinks!"?!

Long story short, Nintendo does over-use their main series, Mario to much. Why not focus on some of the old series? Or make new ones?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Mario platformers (SMB, SMB3, Mario 64, stuff like that), but they've been making less and less.
I am excited for Pokemon Black and White though. There's no reason not to overuse a series like Pokemon if the games are good. (and most of them are.)

I'm sorry but if you're going to talk about games that have been done to death make sure you remember CoD!!!!!!! there is about 100 of these, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro etc. All Sony and Xbox games.
