Final Fantasy XIII North American/European release date!!!

The announcement is that "My Hands" from Leona Lewis' upcoming album ECHO is going to be Final Fantasy XIII's theme song. When I heard this, I was upset because I was expecting the release date.

Near the end of the trailer, he provides an exclusive, never before seen look at Final Fantasy XIII, and the release date, which is March 9th, 2010!

I hadn't seen that trailer yet, my reaction is to the release date...that is exactly 2 years after the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. XD

Nice to know the release date, let's hope they don't decide to change it... >_>'
 
Wait, what? Then what was that whole "zomg, announcement on the FFXIII site today!" gonna be if they release date was already revealed? :huh:

But March 9th, eh? Alright-that should give me some time to actually beat the other FF games I have xD

EDIT: I still like the Japanese song better than this English substitution, but that's just me >_>
 
The most impressive thing in that whole video was the guys suit.

It was decent news, though I'm not sure what to make of it. As a European it's obviously fantastic news there's going to be a simultaneous release for both the UK and EU because it means we don't have to wait months afterwards but I think SE have built this up far too much. Wada shouldn't have stated they're adding the finishing touches because to me that just says, why 4 months left then? Back end of January/early February I can understand but March is just a bit...meh. Also, the 10th March release date was rumoured for ages so it just sort of feels like they're telling us what we already know but pushed it 1 day forward >.>

Nevertheless, from a UK point of view, the best thing to have come out of this is that it's a simultaneous release! :D
 
I like the fact we have a release date now, what I don't like is that it's Leona Lewis singing the English theme >_>

She's a good singer, don't get me wrong, but I don't think she's suited to a game like Final Fantasy 13, plus, unless something happens in game the song doesn't relate too much to FF13, unlike Melodies of life in 9 and Eyes on me in 8 :jtc:

It's a brilliant song, it's just reaaaaaaally not suited to FFXIII. I'll post a thread with it in a minute. I can see where FFXIII might fit in with the chorus but the beginning starts banging on about a shower and making a bed. :|
 
Grrr.....I can hardly get the trailer to load up anywhere without my crappy internet being slower than a shopping trolley without wheels going uphill in mud.

The announcement is rather underwhelming. March is basically what we all estimated to be the release date. In fact Wada said over and over again it would be March or sometime near. This "special announcement" is nothing really new to any of us.

Although the part of Leona Lewis singing the English theme song is. That surprised me a lot. Firstly, that would mean a completely different song and artist from the Japanese version. Secondly, I would have never dreamt of Leona Lewis and Final Fantasy in the same sentence. She's a fan like us! And we're a fan of her! Everything's perfect! Unfortunately, My Hands doesn't sound like it really fits with the game.
 
Yeah Im really pleased with the release date but Leona Lewis singing the song is not my thing. Also the never before seen look was only combos. Speaking of this I thought some fucking evil dude would show up because it is Friday the 13th!

Funnyness aside, I'm glad about the 3/9/2010 relase date. I never heard Leona Lewis before so I really cannot say as to how her song pans out.....

Apparently, the video just stopped loading and doesn't give a hoot anymore -__-
 
I don't get why people aren't more excited about this release date. Especially those FF fans living in PAL regions such as Europe and Australia. We have historically always been shafted by Square when it comes to FF release dates, getting our games even several months after the North Americans. So getting the game only 4 months after the Japanese, and at the same time as the Americans, is fantastic. Especially taking into consideration that we had to wait almost a year to get the damp squib that was FF XII...

As far as the song goes, I'd rather that my RPGs were free of cheesy pop songs no matter what language they are sung in :P

Yeah, watched today on my 360. I was larking at the end with the release date!! Its not fair away, IM SO HAPPY!! Thats a Tuesday, so maybe a midnight launch, if so Im going to it lol. I was told it was June or July for the release date, but damn Im not complaining. Hope a special edition gets released, doubt it though :(
 
When I heard from a friend that this would be the theme I thought it was a hoax.

I'm happy about the release date, though. That's right at the beginning of my spring break!
