Get ready for… Gilgamesh! Next month, Final Fantasy V will be re-released as a Virtual Console download in Japan.

The job mastering, meteor landing, dimension traveling, jump-to-kill Shinryu classic will cost 800 Wii Points ($8) as a download. Since most Virtual Console games are unaltered you should be able to do the Double Magic / Mix trick again.

World Heroes Perfect from SNK’s heyday and old Jaleco shooter Super E.D.F. are slated for release in January too. Europe has the latter so it’s only a matter of time until Nintendo releases it here.

How nice of Square Enix to remember a Final Fantasy other than FFIV, Dissidia 012 or one in the FFXIII series actually exists!
...although I'm more inclined to wait for the inevitable remake, or at least a port onto something more convenient than to a console I hardly touch these days :hmmm:
 
Hrm, a port to the Wii is a bit unexpected. Still with Martel though on waiting on the inevitable remake. It WILL happen one day.

I might pick it up though for 800 points if we get it later :hmmm:

You know what would be better? You know, not forgetting about them and actually making a sequel and spending more time on something other than cloned games! :C

Possibly checking to see how much interest there is in FFV? If it sells well, I imagine that a remake is inevitable.

Although, it's just basic business to release them to the Wii, it doesn't take much effort, and it makes them a bit of money.

Since a Final Fantasy title was announced for the 3DS, you have to imagine that'll be it, since III and IV did fairly well on the DS.
