Final Fantasy: Dissidia Announced

I actually cannot wait to see this game in its complete state. I've always wanted a fighting game for FF.

New update:

• Tidus (FFX), Ultimecia (FFVIII) and Emperor (FFII) are playable
• The game features both free roaming 3D combats and one on one combats
• You can lock on to a character with L trigger
• There are two types of attacks, one to drain the "Brave" gauge, and another one to damage the opponent HP
• "Brave" is the strength of your attacks, the more you have the more damage your attacks will be
• The stages have pits and destructible objects, you can perform aerial maneuver near walls, like in FFVII Advent Children
• You can run on the walls and exchange blows with opponents
• You can choose two different combat modes: Standard and Technical
• It is probably possible to customize the characters, as you can earn Gils and APs after each fight.

But since they're bastards about hotlinking, I just uploaded it to my Photobucket. It sheds a little bit more on what Squall's small redesign will look like, and I'm loving it.

But that thing hanging from his waist is a piece of shit and needs to die. It makes him look like he beat the shit out of cloud and took a little bit of his skirt-thingeh. D: <

There's also a small rumor going around that Ultimecia will have the Griever summon but it's not confirmed, just like the rumors of the chosen voice actors/actresses. The final unconfirmed rumor is that the release date will be around mid/late next year.

There's also chatter on the side between former square staff members that Garland may quite possibly have the proper ability to become the Chaos that is warring with the Goddess and that with the style of the logo we may have some unlockable characters - but again, these are just the minds of previous Square Staff members brewing.

Ha ha, i won't deny that i had a problem finding out if Kuja was male or female when i first saw him during the game..
For now, I'm wondering whats the main plot of the game.. They get together to fight.. But for what purpose? Maybe there would be some sort of prize...? Something magical, maybe?

i agree! they need to get rid of that skirt thing lol he kinda looks like yuna did in x-2 with it off to the side like that. other than that, he looks great tho

zidanes remake looks great in the picture, but to me he looks kinda childish when it shows him in the actual gameplay fighting kuja.

Squall looks like he's 16. Seriously, wtf is up with his face? Why didn't Nomura just stick with his old design?

Since when do fighting games have or need plots or purposes. But my theory is that all the characters in the game somehow end up in The Void (the dimensional portal that allows the same Gilgamesh from V to appear in different FFs).

I'm going to guess you never played IX ; Anyway, one can't really tell if he's wearing a thong or not because we've never seen his ass. For all we know it could be normal panties in the back. But I'm going to guess it's a thong anyway.

I'm still dissapointed by the lack of female fighters in this - Ultimecia aside - I still feel that they should have went with Edea instead of Ultimecia...I'm still hoping for Terra/Celes/Aerith/Tifa/Yuffie/Yuna etc...

It's only artwork. If it were the in-game design which we see then yeah, it'd be kind of annoying the way she turned out. Though to be honest I see nothing wrong with that image of her.

That image of her is sexy However, it's like he gave her the X-2 treatment, which I sorely dislike.

It irritates me just how many people are stomping around about how this game is being killed for them when they know fine well that, if they own a PSP, they're going to buy this game. None of you are stubborn enough to actually miss out on this game because the revamped designs aren't to your liking.

Ranting aside, with a controversial opinion to this thread, it makes me want to actually buy a PSP just for this.

New Kuja looks bad. Old Kuja looked awesome

And yes, she used glue. Naturally it ruined the inside of her dress top, though.

I actually wouldn't buy this game, or go anywhere near it. For one thing, I hate SE. Second, Nomura fux0red with the characters, even his own. Thirdly, I've got better fighting games to play than an animu fighter. I really don't expect there to be much depth to this game, nothing like what you'd find in Virtua Fighter or even Soul Calibur.

Slow on the uptake, are we? It's a fighting game, think Ehrgeiz, only less crappy and with all FF characters.

The fighting system itself has a peculiar twist that we're going to have to try out a bit more before proclaiming our undying love. You have two attack buttons, both of which are used with analog stick combinations to unleash an array of moves on your opponent. Attacks performed with the square button steal your opponent's attack power (called "Brave" in the game). Attacks performed with the circle button use the stolen brave to unleash physical blows that drain HP.

Now, I may just be pessimistic, but gathering from that and that pic I posted of the control scheme that says "it is critical to store BP to determine win-lose", it looks to me like this Brave Point system is going to be a cheap way to win against the AI. I don't like fighting games with cheap tricks to exploit, I'd rather have a challenging fighter that takes skill to play.

What do you mean??? That IS her old design. there are only minor changes made to her.

I like that much better, she doesn't look like some scary dominatrix about to gore you with her hair horns However, you're right, her Ultimecia form is pretty much the same. The hair looks...off...though. I can't pinpoint it, just seems too colorful or something.

But they are two totally different people. Edea wasn't one of her "forms" Ultimecia is the Sorceress from the future. Edea was a sorceress she posessed, but Edea wasnt on of her forms... but we are way offtopic so I'm gonna stop lol Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing Ultimecia and Squall in this. I was dissapointed that Ultimecia wasn't given very much screentime in Final Fantasy VIII so it is nice to see her in another game.
