Final Fantasy: Dissidia Announced

I take it that you guys have all seen the trailer. Looks awesome.

A quote from Kuja: 'I will peform for you, your own requiem. HAHAHAHAAAA!!!'

^Yeah, I agree.

Although I forgive him, because he does a really good trance move in the trailer. Sephiroth was a bit cliched though, although he still pulled it off.

does anyone know if you can play it on a ps3? if you can i will definately get it (mainly to kick sephiroths ass with zidane XD)

SE really suck with IX voice actors. They give Vivi a girly voice in KH2, and now Zidane's voice?! Wtf? I'm sure it's the same person who voice's the Japanese Naruto ... *shudders* I wasn't too impressed with Kuja's voice either :\

It's about foooking time that SE realise that IX is in fact a good game, with characters that rock :) I'm getting sick of seeing Sephiroth everywhere though ... especially with the fire. I mean, it was cool in AC, but mimicking it all the time? Think of something new already!

At least Kuja and Zidane can Trance mid-battle. That's brilliant :D I hope you can equip Zidane with the double-bladed weapons though ...

Translation of the trailer:

Text at the begining -

The world has been created 12 times, and the 13th time is beginning
Reality and destruction, are not defined by the Creator
That is decided, by each and every person who shares this world

And the in-battle dialogue -

Garland: Understand that there can never be harmony
Garland: For eternity I will fight against fate!
Warrior of Light: It is fate that this ends here!

Kuja: I shall perform for you, your own requiem! Hahahahaha!
Zidane: After that, the climax!

No, Dissidia is a PSP-only title. The only way to play it is to own a PSP.

Yeah, I'm sick of that too. It's just like "Oh look, it's Sephiroth and some fire. Meh" now. They've killed the whole thing with him now =/.

I'd like to see Zidane's double blades too. I don't see why they won't use them though.

looks like ehergiz or something like that... i can't spell it...

omg... this leaves me fascinating even more, i always thought that all the final fantasies were actually connected together and were divided into different time periods such as ffix came before ffviii and ffvii and ffviii came before ffvii and ffxii is going to be the future of ffvii and what they says that "the world has been created 12 times and the 13th is beginning" makes me even sure of my thoughts

A lot of people are saying that, but SE have said that it is going to differ largely from Ehrgeiz.

And, no. No FF's are connected at all. In any way, shape or form (with the exception of the compilation of FFVII, and x & X-2) so that's just a coincidence.

Actually, that's more a matter of whether you listen to the PR announcements Square-Enix makes. I honestly don't. However, Square has said that FFX and FFVII do occur on the same world several thousand years apart. Honestly, it's post game bologna, so I don't even figure it in as a factor.

No they don't. FFVII was set on Gaia, FFX was set on Spira :monster:. Also, don't you think that there would be some mention of the events of the other game, considering the fact that the world as they knew it almost ended? You need to find a more reliable source.

It comes straight from those damn Ultimania guides that Square-Enix's developers and producers wrote. The people that sat down and wrote the games we all know and loved, later sat down and described details about the game that were not included in the game. This was one of those details.

Note: I hate the Ultimania guides.

Gaaah, i want a PSP now.

That fight between Zidane and Kuja looks awesome ^_^ But um...i really hope the american version gets a good voice actor for Zidane, because if i'm not mistaken, Zidane's voice actor is the same one who does the japanese Naruto....and that does NOT fit zidane.

And i agree with Pooley on that whole Sephi/flames thing. It's getting boring. Seriously, there are much more intimidating/powerful/psychotic villians than Sephiroth, like Kuja and Kefka and Garland and ExDeath. Hell, tonberries and cactuars scare me more than Sephiroth.

I think they should just design new characters.Ah,well,Zidane looks cool! ^_^

I think they should use characters besides Cloud and Sephiroth, i am so sick of seeing them, they're so overused.

Major kudos to SE for putting in Kuja, Zidane, Garland, and the Light Warrior. I hope they include alot more old characters, it would be great to play as Kain or Shadow or Cecil or Locke or Celes. I'm not sure what other IX characters they could put in there...i suppose Amarant and Steiner would be well-suited for a fighting game.

On a final note: those Ultimanium guides are bullshit. FF worlds are disconnected. The line "The world has been created 12 times, and the 13th time is beginning" completely counters the idea that they are connected.

By saying the world has been created 12 times, it's saying that it's starting over from scratch each time, it's not one massive timeline. Just look at the continents. Some look a bit similar (such as VII and IX's worlds), but given the way plate tectonics works, it's virtually impossible that the worlds are connected.

The exception to this is Ivalice, in which XII, Tactics, Vagrant Story, Tactics Advance, and Tactics A2 (in that order) take place. Now, the quote says the world has been created 12 times, and i said that each world is rewritten from scratch, so you may say i'm not being consitant about 12. Wrong. They say it has been recreated 12 times, and as XII is included in the main series and not the Tactics series, that means that it's a separate creation from the previous 11 games.

God damn Ultimanium guides! You always complicate everything, and ruin our own theories! Oh well, I'll be waiting to kick Sephy's ass with Gilgamesh (if he's in it, I hope). Yes, I am obsessed with him.
......
Wait a minute, where'd the hell my avatar go?! Damn you, [LSD], damn you!

Two words:

Beatrix.
Freya.

The guides say that they're connected? How, exactly? Worlds like Spira look nothing like Gaia and Ivalice, or the world of FFI and FFIII. I seriously doubt their's a huge timeline. If it was all the same world ... wouldn't the same lore apply to each game? Like the Lifestream, Memoria and the Far Plane in every game?

Supposedly VII is Spira, just thooooousands of years ahead or some crap like that. And yes, the same lore would have to apply...apparently the greedy bastards SE employed to write the Ultimanium guides didnt take that into consideration. It's all a load of crap, and frankly, anyone who buys what they say is pretty damn gullible. Aztec put it nicely when he said they were "post game bologna", because that's all they are. SE is just trying to capitalize on GOOD games Square released and make more money, so they count on fans' blind faith.

Oh and yes, Beatrix in Dissidia would be awesome. Freya...no...because i hate her. Sir Fratley would be cool though.

You only hate her because you think she's ugly :P But, you have to admit, she's a pretty kick-ass dragoon/lancer, in my opinion, much more so than the likes of Kimahri, especially with her "Dragon" abilities.

Beatrix would just pwn. Especially with Seiken ^_^ Although, she can't Trance ...

That whole Spira/Gaia thing is a load of crap. The Farplane is nothing like the Lifestream.

I wonder who the 10 main protagonists are. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it'll be the male lead from every game:

Warrior of Light
Firion?
?? There's Arc, Luneth and Ingus to choose from - I think this game will be left out.
Cecil
Bartz
Locke?
Cloud
Squall
Zidane
Tidus
Vaan
