I'm stuck on the part with Sazh's Odin/Eidolin at the end of chapter 8. I can't deal enough damage to get the bar up. I always end up dying from the Doom counter. Any tips?

use a syn and sab apply haste and vigilance at the begining then switch between war and peace and dualcasting for the remainder of the battle and you should have her beat within 2 minuts

You guys gotta stop use the word "buffing" and "debuffing", it confuses the hell out of people. Even me.

What they are saying, is you need to press L1 before the battle, and activate those items that gives you Haste and Shell.

I struggled with this battle too, and have almost forgotten how I managed to do it. But I remember that when I got it right, it was over pretty fast.

So when you have Haste, you can chain him pretty fast, I think I used the DualCast paradigm. And since Brynhildr likes when you protect Vanille, use a paradigm where Vanille is Medic and Saz is Synergist.

Theres a thread about it somewhere on this category, it helped me out.

Just to confirm something from Marius' great post, the two items in the L1 menu prior to battle to use are Fortisol and Aegisol. These items cast Bravery, Faith and Haste then Protect, Shell, Veil and Vigilance respectively. Whilst using these two items, the battle with Sazh's Eidolon is fairly easy.

What I meant was, using a Synthesist to add buffs like haste, protect, etc whilst in battle, increases the Eidolon's Gestalt bar.

E.g. Rav/Syn/Syn, or Rav/Syn/Med.

Using L1 for items before the battle will help of course, but I don't think it alone helps raise the Gestalt bar, although it will certainly make the battle easier.

I'd suggest you use them both as Ravagers and then switch one to a medic where possible. Just create a strategy where one of them can be a Ravager and another Medic. That tactic worked for me.
