I started playing FF13 about a month ago, I've played it once or twice and don't really like it so far. I'm only at that big frozen lake after fighting some of those psicom soldiers but I don't find it interesting. The story doesn't make sense and it does'nt make me want to figure it out. The battle system iss annoying and the menus don't make sense either. And the camera never works the right way either.
I played ff 1, 10, and 12 and they were al good from the outset. Does FF 13 improve after this point or soes it stay as tedious and uninteresting throughout?

Thanks.

Given your complaints such as the story not making sense and the battle system, I'd say no. I don't think it gets better in that way.

But if we're talking less linearity or a change of pace, it might get better. Eventually there are changes of scenery, I guess.

Id have to agree and say it doesnt get any better, i never finisjed it either. Its a bore of a game.

I didnt play mine for a month after I busted a $170 on the special edition and special edition walk through, I could tell I wouldnt like it from the get go, the characters were boring and did not interest me all that much.

The big frozen lake:lew:

Strange thing is though months after having traded it in I have a new found repsect for the game even trying to bid on ebay for it, but not being too disappointed if I didnt win
its and odd feeling to have about a FF game.

It gets better when you dont own it.......thats all I will say:srsly:

Considering there is only a very small group of people on this site that even want to give FFXIII the time of day ( :mokken: ), I'll give you my input.

For me, I got extremely pissed at it early on. It did seem tedious, and all the enemies were extremely difficult, and I just didn't think I had the patience to continue. But I did. And now, I thoroughly enjoy the game.

However, I got into the story from the outset. I thought it had a kick-starting introduction. I enjoyed learning about the characters, the backstory, and the overall game world. That's what kept me going.

However, if you're not at all interested in the characters, the gameplay, the backstory, or the present storyline and you just find everything a bore, chances are you'll just be wasting your time continuing and should just move on to another game.

I'd personally say it gets better. The battle system gets a little better since it's a lot faster than FFXII and FFX's. You just need to adjust your Paradigms and work accordingly with your AI controlled teammates for that boost you need.

As for story, late Chapter 3 and early Chapter 4 are interesting. You get a few interesting gameplay elements that will give you a decent bit of action and a few decent battles as well. That should keep you interested.

However, I won't lie. Late Chapter 4, Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 are seriously dull, especially after a first playthrough. Sazh and Vanille make a slow, clunky combo that makes battles a chore, and Chapter 5 with Lightning and Hope is just a little too long and repetitive for my liking.

Chapter 7 is when the game really comes into its own. It's a huge, action packed chapter that kept me pumped until the very end. The switches between party members are perfect down to the last detail, and there are some exhilarating battles and story developments.

Chapter 8 has you back with Sazh and Vanille, so gameplay wise, it's quite slow. However, it's short, so you won't be fighting too much; and storyline wise? It's one of the best in the game, if not THE best.

And from then on, it maintains a steady, interesting pace. Really you have to earn the action and the above average chapters that make this game so good. It's an interesting game if you actually invest time and attention to it and get to that halfway point.
