the first time you face him, everytime i get him down slightly, he heals himself back to full health i was in this loop for half an hour today before i gave up :rage:

is their anyway i can get him to stop healing god dam it :hmph:

btw i have all my roles at lv 17 and i have a healing monster and a ravenger monster at lv 25

I had this problem too. :/ Chris called it a cheap way to make a battle hard. :lew: I would have certainly preferred him having twice as much HP.

In the end, I grinded for about 20 minutes and made sure Serah was well levelled in Ravager with Noel well levelled in Commando. I used relentless assault through most of the battle with potions and wound potions. Once Caius was staggered, I charged the bar for a while, I think, then transferred to the Paradigm which has Noel AND Serah as Commandos and a Medic, though I am guessing (as long as you're in good health) it would be better to have your monster as a Ravager.

Good news is, I haven't had a battle as hard or irritating since! :lew:

I had trouble beating him too the last time.

What Lirael said. And try to kill him within 1-2 staggers. Don't waste too much time buffing or debuffing or he will recover his health. Try COM RAV MED more than full MED party.

I got lucky and beat him on the 2nd Try ((he decimated me on the first attempt but I went back and restocked on Wound pots XD))

My team was Level 58 Ravager(Serah), 60 Commando (Noel) and a level 25-30 Cait Sith.

I just tried to Stagger him and somehow beat him with the last few seconds of my Stagger.

My only advice on this fight is make sure your have around 20-30 Wound Potions and Watch your HP Sadly I don't really use much strategy on this yet since I normally end up beating the bosses rather quickly.. ~.~;

i beat him pretty easily.
RAV/RAV/RAV to stagger him.
COM/COM/COM once staggered.
RAV/MED/COM use this if his attacks are to powerful
SYN/SAB/MED- to debuff him when he does his body renewel move thing, and syn to buff yourself while debuffing him. make sure you Poison so it like counters his hp gain.

thats how i recently did it after going back, i dont remember how i did it when it was my first time. something similiar i assume.

Use a SAB to poison him (evened odds - SAB/SYN/MED works best), this takes away the Regen effect. Then deprotect, deshell. RA for a bit to establish the chain, Tri-Disaster to stagger, and ceberus for the kill.

Watch out for
1. Absolution - gets rid of your debuffs and puts a couple on himself, including regan.
2. Body and Soul - Same thing.

You can make all of his battles really easy with the premeditation paradigm to start off with. Synergist, Sabatuer, Sentinel. He is weak to poison, deptrotect, and imperil. Poison basically stops his regen, although you will have to recast this as he gets rid of debuffs, however it’s easy to cast on him till the later battle...although it is still very possible in those. Deprotect weakens him post stagger, and imperil weakens him while you are staggering him. With all of this you can kill him in the first stagger. The only Caius I had some trouble with was the paradox one where you’ve only got Serah and a monster. In that case, go with Cid's strategy. Although deprotect is really easy to cast on him and it will help for post stagger damage. Continuous debuffs also cause wounding over time which can reduce his overall health...although that is a very lengthy strategy that I would only recommend to underdeveloped parties.

i beat him first try, id not evenly levelled my roles though which is where you might have been going wrong, i pretty much stuck to commando for noel with sentinel afew levels behind and ravager for serah, and I had a monster for healing. I dont think i even had anything for synergist yet as Id powered the other 2/3 roles. ive still not levelled medic at at (further in the game, obv) and serah has just started on synergy, noel on saboteur

When it got a bit hairy, i flipped over to having noel as a sentinel while stillhaving her ravaging and my healy mon, healing.

Ahhh Caius.... isn't he dreamy ?

I looked into eyes and asked if I could have his babies, he said yes and I won...
:megusta:

But having a Behemoth helps. Try and catch one and he'll pummel Caius into the ground.

I had Noel on Medic I think, and let Serah wound/ poison him and then change Noel to com and let him attack, and trade Noel between Medic and com depending on your party's health. But having a Behemoth does help alot, seriously.
