FFXII: Love It or Hate It?

I really like XII. It's not the unconditional love I feel for other FFs in the main series, but it's very interesting to replay its story. Like one of the first topics on this thread, we won't feel like we belong somewhere because we are always wondering. There's no specific home to visit (unless Fran's).

And yet, there's much coldness. Dialogue’s range between political and social issues is just once in a while deflected to main characters. Not to speak about the obnoxious/DREADFUL ending . And after that there’s the hunting /esper obtainment that are a boredom to replay.

Besides this, is very hard to find other fatal flaws. Even the gameplay, when you measure to work it well, things seem easier and enjoyable...

XII is epic.It had an awesome story, world, soundtrack, awesome exploration, quests and races.and was a loooong game. Definitely Top 5.
Basch and Ashe goes to top 10 FF characters too, really like them.

I like how most of it's characters are not too much estereotyped and all races too. Just wished you could use a Bangaa too. Just don't like the random chests.

I also love FFXII... And don't think its any less replayable than all the others. You can just tell they spent a lot of time on making this game, with all the towns, hunting grounds, NPCS, etc. I will probably replay it 20 more times before I die lol..

I'll be eating my previous words if I say this, but... I have to admit, I'm beginning to love this game. I played it once before. I got to Pharos Third Ascent (around level 60) and gave up because I found it boring. I don't anymore. :wacky: I still blame Gambits for the fact that there's not much excitement with the battles. Also, there's only panic with the boss fights. But generally, I like it.

Being the last game to come out for PS2, the graphics are stunning. The storyline is interesting, but I think they overdid it with the twists. I love the towns/areas. Good voice acting (it was actually pretty good) and the character designs were amazing. I specifically like Larsa and his personality. That said, I like how diverse their stories are.

I'm still a bit baffled by Vaan--I still can't understand why he's the main character and why he's tagging along in the first place, though I wouldn't know. I've not finished the game yet (and I can't remember what happened during my first playthrough). But it's going great so far. :ryan:

I feel the same about Vaan. Also, when I'm talking about FFXII he never comes to my mind for any reason. Even Penello is more significant than him. Other characters counterbalance and quickly gain more significance. Saying about Ashe when she says "Don't interrupt me!" I loled so hard because he was deserving it XD

ughh I couldn't really pick from the poll!

I HATED the game at first, like srsly couldnt' stand it, played about half way through then a year later decided to finish it and I found I loved it!!

so I dunno if hated the first half and loved the second half or a grew up in a year and realised it was a good game.

I really love that game. The gambit system is original an for the first time we could see the enemies on the field. I also really like the open world and the marks sidequests. The plot was mature and political and I love it.

OFC Love it Guys...It was something new for Final Fantasy Series especially at combat style and it was trying to simulate the players with the online ones..[My opinion]

I really love Final Fantasy XII, it's my favourite RPG i've played so far, some people could argue that i havent played many RPG's in my life (which i havent compared to alot of people), but i really enjoy playing this game and please, someone help me with getting through Final Fantasy X thanks!

I thought it was a great game. I loved all the extras and side-quests, which I like in all Final Fantasy games.
They changed a lot of things. So it made it quite different from the traditional Final Fantasy games. But I think it was still a good game. They still kept a lot of original features of the Final Fantasy games, such as the inclusion of a man called Cid, the Chocobos, Moogles (albeit they appeared very differently, but they still had pompoms and said 'Kupo', and that's enough for me).
I think as a game for gamers, it was a brilliant game.
But for a dedicated Final Fantasy follower, I can see how some people could be disappointed in the lack of some parts of the traditional Final Fantasy spirit.

Personally I loved this game; I've had playing it just like any other FF game before it. What i really liked about this game is how realistic it was; the world of Ivalice was carried out very good, graphically it stunned me a game could look that good on PS2. Why no try to make it a bit different? Honestly don't get me wrong but after playing through the same thing only with different persona's I grew a bit tired. I never used gambit system unless with boss battles so I've experienced how hard this game can be. Many say Vann is a useless character. i say its refreshing that he is not the type we've seen in FF games. He did not go around weaving with a sword right after his brother died claiming he will have his revenge. He just fights so he could live his dream and all. My friend claim him a whinny prick, but given he lost his brother. doesn't that give him the right to be a whinny prick. I just liked how the whole story was driven by events not characters. Much like FFVII.

Music was stunning. Graphic very well done. I liked whole story of FF12. No stereotypes, the cities, the nature, Fran's, Balthier background I find it most original. Also I loved how Cid got to be a bad guy in this game. People in the cities changed with events that unfolded. My only flaw was it took so long to level up; side-quests were such a fun to play. Voice acting was terrific.

Love it. While the story and soundtrack were a bit weak in comparison to the other FF games I've played, I feel like it's gameplay more than made up for it.

I actually thought this game had the best battle system out of all of the FF games I played. I liked that there was no loading between finding an enemy and actually fighting it. I also liked the immense level of character customization the license board offered, even if it ultimately led to all characters having the same abilities with slightly different stats. Plus, the huge number of weapons, equipment, and side quests gave it alot of replay value.

Also, just because I feel it needs to be said, Vayne was a badass.

I'm glad most everyone on here loves the game. The hate it receives is very, very unwarranted.

Unwarranted? You need a license to wipe your ass, the characters are dirty, carbon copies of one another and the storyline is boring >.>

This is the first time I've EVER gotten a game, played it for a few days and sold it within the week I got it on.
