FFXII: Love It or Hate It?

Great game! Absolutely worth the 20 bucks. My first real final fantasy game and That's how I fell in love with the final fantasy series. WOOT!!!!

I LOVED XII. It was fun and compact yet it was spacious at the same time. The environment was immense and vast. You could spend hours grinding in the open field. There were many dungeons and side quests you could do if you did not want to progress the story.

But, there was two things that bothered me with the game. The characters and treasures. The characters were much developed as they were in previous installments. The latter issue was notorious. I mean to get one of the rarer items, the percentages were so minute. 1/10 for an item and 1/100 for a certain weapon on the same chest. OH GEEZ. I never managed to get any of the rare weapons.

Really dislike XII! I was so dissapionted when i played it after all the hype around its Jap and US releases. Characters are weak and forgettable, graphics are no real step up from X, soundtrack is one of the worst, and IMO Licence Grid was terrible.

S-E really seem to have lost their ways with the last two main series titles (FFX-2 and FFXII) and i am praying that they have sorted XIII out but i must say from all the video's i have seen ...i'm not expecting much :(

Vaan as a main character was such a letdown. It almost felt as if there was no leading person in the game.

I did enjoy the game however. The Gambit system was quite cool. :D

The plot was quite confusing though. :l

If I had to choose one, I would say hate it. I simply found it boring. I don't know if I simply didn't get far enough in the story for it to keep me interested, because that's possible. But I just found it boring, for some inexplicable reason.

It's a great game, but it isn't intresting as the others FF. I don't really like Gambit System, but it was all right late in the game to complete the hunts. Anyway FFX is more better that FFXII as I thought that FFXII will be the best FF.

The game was okay, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't the worst. I didn't like Vaan as the main character and it was quite a short game. I only finished it (very) recently and I thought the end was a bit of a let down... but the game is probably worth getting. I'd say I loved it.

Love it! FFXII is my fav FF after FFVIII. The only thing I hated about it was Vaan. No character has been more completely useless in a FF game than him.
I loved the gambit system (a godsend for lazy people) and the liscence board was a cool spin on FFX's shpere grid.
The Judges were an interesting sub-plot, and Baltheir is one of my favourite FF characters ever.

Wow I am quite surprised at the amount of people that actually loved this game. I don't hate this game but I also am far from loving it. :gonk:

I don't think I've posted in this thread yet. I really wish there was a third option because I didn't love or hate it. I disliked it though so I'm leaning towards hate....but I really didn't hate it. I certainly didn't love it either.

Whatever, I chose hated it because I'm leaning towards that.

I only have the demo, since it came with dragon quest 8 but i loved it!
I couldent tell any charactors personality's but based on moves and looks ashe and penelo were sooo cool!!!!
i like how combat wasint like a normal rpg where you run into the monster outside the map than it brings you in a battle and you choose your attacks but in this is was real time combat and you could fight monsters without urnning into them!
Why didint ffxiii do that?

I loved it! I got a bit confused at first with the gameplay but once I got the rhythm even small battles were a lot of fun. :)

Characters were great too, I liked how they all seemed to get their own time in the spotlight.

I really liked it but the espers were difficult to use, they didnt stay in battle for long enough and it was ifficult to maintain their hp in boss battles

I really really didn't like twelve one bit, it didn't feel like an FF game at all in my opinion. I just couldn't love the battle system and the gambits were annoying and so were the vast and boring dungeons.
None of the characters seemed developed at all really and I just found the storyline confusing. THere were elements which could have been fun such as the monster bounties but there was too much i disliked to balance it out.

Im pretty nuetral in the FF12 department just never felt like much of an ff game to me lol but i went for hate b/c it just wasnt one of my fav ffs(not by a long shot) also did anyone else think larsa was a girl for like half the game lol XD

Really enjoyed playing it, might play it again someday, but not now. Can understand why the characters never bond the way they do in other games, it takes place over a short peroid of time and they only have one common objective for the most part.

Apart from that, can't complain, found it fairly easy though, was really let down how much a joke the final boss was.

I do not completely hate hate hate hate hate hate this game, but it was far from my favorite, so I picked hate. The game would remain relatively unchanged if Vaan wasn't there. He litterally has no personality. He's a mindless zombie. However, he is a mindless zombie who does have enough personality to act mad/excited/happy/BORING once in a while. All the other characters where decent.
The story could get confusing but you could tell it was carefully thought out. Gameplay was...meh. It was ok if you didn't completely use gambits, but when you do it doesn't feel much like a game anymore.

did anyone else think larsa was a girl for like half the game lol XD
I also thought Larsa was a girl for half the game. XD

Loved it, it brought something new to the table, and executed it well in my opinion. Although I prefer traditional Final Fantasies to this, XII is a well done game, and I liked it.

Also, who else notice Vaan was the main character for like, a couple minutes and then it all focused on everyone else? XD
