I hope I am posting in the right place for this question, excuse me if I'm wrong. So I am playing FFX-2 and is there any reason why I should be maxing out as many dresspheres as possible?

I personally, didn't really bother maxing out the dresspheres and there's really no need to unless of course, you wanna 
though, the more abilites you learn the better your characters are making it easier to fight bosses etc. If your willing to take the time I say go for it!=]

You should focus on mastering as many of the useful dresspheres as possible. The likes of Trainer can be neglected for the most part, whereas the likes of White/Black Mage and Dark Knight would benefit you greatly in the long-run. Try mastering a small number firstly so that you at least have some versatility.
