FF Transformers..!!!

...They are in FFXIII, haven't you seen the images? They're just...well, morphing too. You can use them, but they've just a dual purpose this time round.

Hopefully more summons will be released soon.

Well I know for sure that Shiva's a motorbike (she's been in all of the preview movies), but I haven't heard about the other reports.

Whatever those summons are in DS's scans, they look pretty BA, though.

I'm not too concerned about Summons becoming transformer-esque - there must be a clear use for them all (Shiva being a motorcycle... speedy transport), so it's not overly worrying that they'll all be entirely shit. Though I'm approaching enthusiasm towards this with caution.

Agreed. I don't mind it either. In fact, I'm actually looking forward to it. It's a change, and whether it's good or bad...well, I guess we'll just have to find out. I'm being optimistic about this one. Final Fantasy never cease to amaze me with its glorifying unique features that adds to the entertainment, and I really doubt it'll start going downhill soon. I'm hoping anyway.

A lot of people complained about how summons were named differently in FFXII, and I really liked the change. FFXIII's summon changes are a little bit more extreme with transforming into mechanical objects, but like previously said, it's change. Change keeps the interest flowing and keeps you guessing.

I'm sure there will be a fairly in-depth story as to why summons can now transform. I just hope they don't reference the Power Rangers.

AHah although now this has me wondering what the other summons will be...like Siren and Carbuncle, who we've seen already. ^.^

I wonder if one of them will be a boat, or a chocobo. XD

Let's try and guess what the other summons will transform into!

I've seen in FFXIII Scan, in the picture that shows Ifrit and the summons that Carbuncle has been summoned from a CD o_O , but the old summons is back that's for sure since there are pictures of them

FFX had the best idea where you can actually fight with the Aeons instead of just summoning them for an attack and then they leave.
Im not sure where they are heading with this transformers business, probably trying to appeal to the Transformers fans and getting them to buy FFXIII.

i'm pretty sure the summons will remain summonable and the transformations are just to match with the new age/modern/futuristic feel FFXIII is supposed to have.

carbuncle is a CD, shiva is a bike.
it makes sense considering there's not too much magic in futuristic movies and stuff.

what i'm confused about is why there are two shivas?? one looks kinda african american, the other looks white. and then they freeze together and become the bike?? wassupwiththat?

i believe to have read they're sisters(i don't know the name of Shiva's supposed sister if this is true though)

personally i think this transformer BS is just fail from the start..
sure it can be useful, but i'd much rather take a lego block out of my pocket and have it change into a bike then having to summon my.. summons and have them transform into a bike or train or whatever.. i mean, that's just a bad rip off of the transformers series, and very un-FFlike..

gameplay wise it's useful, but lorewise it's just stupid imo

something my friends pointed out: in the long FFXIII trailer, the monsters Lightning fights have transformed from hover cars. so maybe in the game there is a big play on monsters being monsters hiding in technological stuff. this ties back into that theory saying FFXIII & versus are battles against the magic and technological world. but if that's the case, why's Lightning fighting the techno stuff instead of regular old magic monsters??

Because she's on the side of magic? Just using the weapons available to her- the high-tech guns?
I would really find it amusing to wonder about the summon's stories in the game's history...
If the people's ancestors did come into contact with the summons before, does that mean its Cave man on a Motorbike.....?

So they can still be used in battle, not just as forms of transportation? I'd hate it if Bahamut was just some commercial plane, he can be summoned during fights, can't he? You know, like in a bunch of Final Fantasy games in the past. >_>

They can't just ditch the past, they haven't, have they? I was disappointed by FFXII when Bahamut was just the name of a ship, it isn't just going to be like that again in FFXIII, is it?

Ha ha ha! Comical. The entire concept does seem a bit... stupid, but it could prove to be refreshing and fun. Square hasn't confirmed anything other than the Shiva motorcycle. I think it plays a part in the use of crystals which has been confirmed. Something about crystals enable the player to upgrade equipment and magic... I don't remember.

I didn't care for the concept initially, but seeing what little Square has to offer at the moment has altered my initial impression and I'm open to the concept more and I hope they don't go insane with it.
