Favoring new characters over old characters

Did you ever had a favorite character in a certain video game and you favoured him/her for many years,while another character(newly introduced or another character) appears in that game and you favor him/her now over your old character.does it bug that you favor a new character over your original character because you liked the original character for many years with experience?Relate to ff games if u want.

Probably, I can't think of any specific examples though.

Not really, it's not like I'm hurting the original character's feelings or anything.

Besides there is always the option of favoring both characters equally a la toy story.

I find recentally most of the charecters I favor die or are dead to begin with....But I think in each game I play I favor some or one over others But like the above said I dont think it has ever bugged me because its not like the charecter can say " Why dont you like me over him/her"

I guess I can apply this to fighting games. I remember when I first started playing Soul Blade/Soul Calibur, I played with Mitsurugi a lot. But now I prefer Siegfried and Sophitia.

I also played with Ryu a lot on Street Fighter II. The last Street Fighter game I played EX Plus Alpha), I whored Kairi a lot more than Ryu.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else to apply this to. xD

I'm confused as to how you would love a character of a game for so long and suddenly a new character comes out in that same game that is now... new... are these games... re-released? /confused

May or may not relate/work but I've favoured Aerith for so long, she was always my favourite heroine... then XIII came out, and I fell in love with Vanille's innocence... -sigh-

I have this problem with Marvel, I liked spider man and iron man at first but much later,I would favor newer character I seen,such as luke cage,the thing,colossus. Juggernaut was one of my old favorites and still seems to be my favorite,well,except for titanium man(I foundfd him recently). So my list is:

New-Titanium man
New-Colossus
New-The Thing
New-Luke Cage
New-Thor

Old-Carnage
Old-Juggernaut
Olm-The rhino
Old-Spider man
Old-Iron man

I'm not sure if you mean a new character in a new game for a series you like to play, or just a character you have encountered for the first time (or both).

With the example you made for Marvel it would imply the latter as many of the old characters you listed are newer than the new characters (unless you are referring to a Marvel game series where these characters were introduced in different games).

As for me... I tend to love a lot of characters as I prefer to let myself see good (as much as I can) in everything, and see what the creators were going for, and hence love a lot of characters even if it turns out that they aren't developed as best as they could have been.

I wouldn't say it annoys me that I love a new character as there is plenty of room for me to love more than one character at a time, and I try to avoid placing characters into a hierarchy of love like that.

I don't see it as "I used to love this character, but now that I am introduced to this other character I feel as if my love for the first character is no longer pure". I'll end up loving them both in different ways.

I'd give examples but it applies to every game / movie / comic etc I play / watch / read.

I just have a history in this that bugs me sometimes,well im getting over with it lately,but 1 problem,when theres 2 characters that almost look the same thing,i cant choose to like better(the thing and hulk),i always like heavy characters ir characters with big weapons all the time.But i will tell u,i founded titanium man recently and hes my fav cuz hes hilarious and cool.
