Serah has been said to have a sad fate, that it would be a big part of FF13. Some people have said that they thought she would die, but could that really be it? What do you think Serah's fate will be?

Discuss!

She completes her focus and gets turned into a crystal.
I've read it D:
I don't think that's her ultimate fate though, Sazh's son gets turned into one as well so I reckon they'll be saved at the end of the game :gasp:

I wouldn't pleased with that outcome, if that's the case. I mean, with all that talk by the creators that she would be the 'cutest girl' in the series.. To actually have her suffer such a tragic fate would rather inappropriate..

It would feel like a female version of Tidus, in my honest opinion.

Actually in the trailer I do not think Serah is dead at the end. She probably just fainted but she did say Save cocoon and it did sound like she was dead but I dont think Square would spoil the game just like that. Anyway Yes Serah turns into a crystal but im sure somethin will happen after.

I don't know if she should get out of it... Afterall, SE has never been to kind when it comes to
characters dying. How often do they actually revive from a (perhaps) permanent state? Now that I think about it, I think that the fal'Cie is gathering crystals for power...

I don't know though, just a theory.

This may be true, however if you remember when they were discussing both Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII, they stated that this game is the light and Versus is the dark and that alone makes me wonder if Serah's fate is as sad as what Ryan just posted above there. Truly, it really does. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot more to it than just simply ending it like that for Serah.

I think she probably becomes one of those magic slave things I read about on the FFXIII website. I do not really want to know more though. I haven't been this excited about a game in awhile. So I probably wont read any spoilers, but Id assume its her dying or that she becomes one of the slaves.

Off topic: does anyone know where I can find official information on Versus? I couldnt find and on Square-enix/na

As someone mentioned, the cute one suffering an awful fate isnt right. But it happened with Aeris and she has one of the best scenes in gaming history. I do hope something can be done in the game to prevent that happening to Serah.

Yeah, I think my main theory was that it's revealed that both Serah and Dajh are
turned into crystals
but then you get the scenes where Snow shouts "turn her back" and Lightning says something about Snow not being able to protect Serah so I think that's going to be one of the focuses around the story so I reckon it might happen half way through or something :hmmm:

I'm hoping that Serah doesn't actually die. She'll get turned into a crystal, but more than likely she'll be back to normal by the end of the game and it'll be all happily ever after in the FFXIII universe, which I'm all for. I'll leave my angst hopes for Versus xD

Also, although the trailers are painting a nice picture of Serah, to anyone who simply plays the game, I don't think Serah is gonna have a whole lot of face time in the first place. So her dying probably won't have as profound of an effect as opposed to someone liked Aerith from FFVII. It's what I think anyways.

*mubles* Then again, I was pissed when
Teta
died in FFT, so...

I think it would. A lot of people are already upset over the fact that she MIGHT die... But! The creators said her fate would be a big impact on the game so, it should be something devastating... maybe.

If Jihl stabs Serah or something I will never forgive her! Anyway Serah's fate looks like it will be a big part of the game. If she does et turned into a crystal I imagine something might get revealed later on in the story that can take Dajh and Serah out of there crystals. It will be sad if they just stay in crystals :sad2:

I bet that if Serah does
get turned into a crystal
then they will find a way to reverse or stop it. I don't think that after saying that this was the "light" game that they would do that to her. If you're comparing it to
Aerith dying in FFVII
, then you should consider the fact that they decided
that she would die
because one of the producers of the game had a death in his family (I read this a while ago but don't remember that clearly, so correct me if I'm wrong), so they wanted to put that emotion into the game. I doubt that they would feel the need to convey that again.

If Serah dies, I doubt I would care honestly. However, that is if she just plays the role of the "love interest" only and nothing more than just that. I just think she is going to be the whole "damsel-in-distress" chick for the entire game. >:/

If you paid any attention at all to what has been said about Serah, she's hardly just a 'love interest' as you refer to her as. She plays a very important role IN this game. She's Lightning's little sister so she's more than just some damsel in distress/love interest.

Obviously its been stated she will turn into a crystal...but I think Jihl will undo the crystalisation and turn her against Lightning somehow etc.. or she will be a corpse...I dont think she will remain in tht state for too long.

So being turned into a crystal by Jihl doesn't make her a "damsel-in-distress" then? >:/

Meh. The way I see it, half of the speculations revolving this game will be proven wrong in the end once it comes out, so I find most of the assumptions made in this game to be silly. The game comes out in a few days, we'll find out eventually what sort of dramatic fate Serah will have.

I just doubt its going to be the same sort of groundbreaking fate to match with Aerith's demise in FF7.
