Oh my god this drives me crazy! I'm so confused on if ff characters are Asian or Caucasian. I mean anime is something the asians invented so then why do so many characters have white features. Such as tifa, she has round eyes, white skin and this is generally a topic I hear about why is her bust so big! And isn't she a bit tall for an asian woman? Another, lightning...she has light hair light eyes light skin and is very tall! And once again her build is larger than the average asian womans including her bust. Now I'm not saying this to be offensive, but I'm just wondering why us asians aren't as common in the games as white people are. I mean look at snow there is no way he's asian. I just want to know are the characters asian or not with there light eyes hair and white skin and long lashea and larger builds and big round eyes I find asians and caucasians to be very beautiful so no racism involved with my thread...thank you anyone who participates.

I always thought that Japanese really like "white people" (so to speak) so they modeled their characters after them instead of actual Japanese people. I could be wrong, though. Tifa sure looks white to me.

Also another quick thing is I realize yuffie is asian with her dark slanted eyes and lower nose bridge, but then why does rikku look more asian in ffx? Same with yuna.

Right uhh, I *think* they just vary. Looking at FFX, I can see that a few of the characters are distinctly Asian in appearance to go with the game's Southeast Asia-themed setting. FFXIII and most of the series just seem to have a mix of caucasian and Asian, and of course, predominantly the former. Why this is, I can only guess and say that Japan just probably finds caucasian characters to be attractive? :wacky:

FFX also had Hawaiian (which is sort of asian?) because of Wakka. And Khimari is not even human :wacky:

im pretty sure Sazh is as asian as it gets...

MOD EDIT: Sullivan0930...this is considered spam in a post count section as it is does not really contribute to the topic at hand.

Maybe the Final Fantasy [game] world is large enough to have diffrent races in it, like from other countries. FF13 example Vanille isn't from Cacoon nor Fang. They even have accents.

In FF12 they had viera and Hawk people also Dalmascans.

I'm not sure if you can actually classify them as "Caucasian" or "Asian" or "European," or "African." Yes the characters in the Final Fantasy Series do have features that have distinct looks or acts that you might say "that looks like something from Asia" or "Yuffie looks like shes from Asia" but I think that you have to realize that in the games, that they want to make these people unique, so by having them look, talk and act different, makes them seem like there from other citys, countries, even worlds.

Don't Asians in general find western stuff sort of exotic? IIRC Terra from VI was supposed to be Tina, which here in the US, is a fairly common name. I would imagine that would help explain why a good number of characters have the appearance of being white as opposed to Asian.

Now, I'm not saying this because I have hard evidence, I'm just making my best educated guess based upon what I DO know.

Honestly, they all look the same to me. Some of them resemble different races a little more than others because they actually have different facial features from the standard build (e.g. Sazh) but others (pretty much every FF female) all look more or less the same, all that really changes between them is their hair colour and bust size. Perhaps because graphics still aren't advanced enough yet, but facial features in video games aren't very distinct, unless they're either deformed or of a darker skin tone. They all have the same almond-shaped eyes, and ridiculously thin and straight nose that looks like a slight breeze would break it, and the same tiny-but-full lips, and angular facial structure.

It is clear that most Square Enix males aren't supposed to have an ethnicity, though. Not even in Asia would men be THAT effeminate. Well, maybe in Thailand, but nowhere else. Maybe SE men are all transvestites/crossdressers from Thailand? :hmmm:
