Square Enix Europe beat out Famitsu and announced details about the first pack of downloadable content for Nier. The World of Recycled Vessel pack further unravels the game story in fifteen nightmarish battles.

The story follows Nier’s wife who was also affected by the Black Scrawl. Her mind, drifting into madness, wrote the following entry, “Recycled Vessel. Severance. Penance. Aberrance. Sufferance. Acceptance. Disturbance. Hindrance. Defiance. Forbearance. Intolerance. Vengeance. Repentance. Radiance. Extravagance. Malignance. Vigilance. Obeisance. Dominance. Allegiance. Resistance. Discordance. Petulance. Misguidance. Deliverance.”

Players control young Nier and Weiss will travel through past and present in fifteen battles. Win and you will unlock three powerful weapons and two sets of alternate costumes for Nier, Emil, Kaine. The World of Recycled Vessel also has new music and a bonus quest, perhaps the continuous battle mentioned by Famitsu.

The World of Recycled Vessel makes its debut on PSN tomorrow and Xbox Live the following day. You can buy it for €6.99 (probably $6.99 in North America) or 560 Microsoft Points ($7), respectively.

*prays that this comes out over here this week as well*

AWESOME. This is now my most-wanted piece of DLC. This looks like its going to be proper DLC, and well worth buying. Additional costumes AND backstory? They're spoiling us. Its at a very reasonable price, as well - it sounds similar to a Dragon Age expansion, which have all been fairly priced and of superb quality.

I've been wondering where the hell Nier's wife is, as well...I was half-expecting them to ignore her, since most of the time game characters seem only to have one parent. She's insane and been playing word association, as well? Lovely. I'm hoping for an epic boss battle out of that ♥

...plus Kaine's costume is black! YAY! ♥

Additional music, as well...I'm looking forward to that most of all ♥

What the hell...So there is story relevance. Damn it, that's the one thing about DLC I never wanted to see. Well that's it, now I know I won't buy Nier - it's going to be an incomplete game >_>

Even though the DLC in itself sounds exciting and accordable to its price - fairly reasonable - I can't help but lament the strong possibility that this could have been in the main release itself as a sidequest or something. I just....don't fancy the idea of paying extra just to be able to have the whole thing.

Still, I will still buy NieR though - when it's a bit cheaper of course. I'm in no real hurry. This is the kind of DLC that as exciting as it probably sounds, is still the kind of DLC I don't like seeing.

I've always been against DLC no matter what the cost, or what it added. If there is something that you wanted to put in your game, you should have made damned sure that it was in the final release.

Now days, everyone wants to charge $10 for a gun that shoots atomic bombs. Or $20 for extra maps. (Maps being the only thing I can see being justified as DLC. And even then, only if you didn't include the maps in game, but are making people pay for the activation of it. Isn't that right MODERN WARFARE 2?)

All of that should have been in the final product. Not something that you can throw into your game when you need a few extra dollars. However, now they're coming out and fixing mistakes (letting you download young Nier due to popular demand. We all warned you SE, no one wants to play as generic beefy strong man 1) that should have been thought about before the game was released. To make matters worse, they're making you pay to fix their mistakes. -__-

Now, they're blatantly coming out with unreleased story content and charging you for that. Story content should always be released in the final release of the game. You should never have to pay extra for it.

Sometimes, I seriously think we need another Video Game Industry crash. :hmmm:
