It can't just be me that is getting this more and more frequently, Ive also noticed the site run really slow at points, which is frustrating to say the least. I don't think the server messages are as bad as they were wayback whenever, but its certainly afew times a day now

Not only that Im getting 'cannot display the webpage' or 'server cant be found (summat about DNS) which Ive had quite abit over the last few weeks

Or is it just my shit pc/internets?

The same thing's happened to me a few times too so you're not alone on this one.
 
Yep, I'm having the same damn troubles. There's a lot of people that have logged on today. More than usual, so maybe it's traffic troubles?
 
yup its pretty constant. A few days back, cant remember exactly when, but it crashed for hours. It wouldnt even display the homepage. Think it said something about a server error.
 
Oh bollocks xD

Is there anything that can be done about it? I can click on a new post, flick over to Msn, have a chat, make a cup of tea and it's STILL loading, or whatever it is you would call it, that itself is more annoying that ANY busy server message I have ever had in my LIFE
 
Same here. I got "The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later." page a few times already.
 
All your internets are shit. I've experienced it like...once this month.
I'll keep this thread open this time since I thought closing the last one would mean there are no more sever threads. :wacky:
 
Some would notice we just got the "server is busy" message. I find that mildly ironic, given the timing of this thread. =P

As far as the previous staff having anything to do with this, I'd say that's something of a non-issue. :wacky:
 
One problem is temp sites that rob bandwidth that your perma sites use. Hosts look for money any way they can and if it means crapping up a sites bandwidth by putting other stuff on it they will do that. LG should just start looking into privately hosting this site on a server of his own which means he would have to get one.
 
Pretty peed off that the people who promised us Tech Admin possibilities never got back to us. They just..kinda disappeared tbh, and frankly, Im a bit annoyed.
 
Then how the heck is the server full? There might be other things that can affect it but that was the only one I knew of.
 
At first I thought it was just my internet connection but it seems I wasn't the only one with problems. I have no idea why this might be happening.... AAAAH!!!
It just did it AGAIN as I was trying to post this.

You can't single them out, since you've acknowledged yourself that more people than Tiel and Koloth turned you down.

I'll recommend to the staff team that they talk to LG about ways to increase ad revenue and upgrade the server if possible.

And before anyone brings it up - Yes i told LG I would be willing to take up Tech Admin duties again to help the site a couple of months ago, Yes due to the whining of people like Tiel and Koloth that didn't go through, and no, I wouldn't take the Tech Admin job if it were offered to me now (Although being a general admin and helping with the direction of the forum would be a different matter)

Oh, and to add to the actual topic, I've had one or two since the massive e-fart the site had the other day.
 
I have had issues with the server as well. It's not very frequent but I do Ctrl+C any post I'm about to make. lol It happens to me probably about once a day for a halfhour span and then goes away. I don't know what is causing it or how to fix it but I can't really demand a solution either... since I'd be surprised if the solution didn't involve someone paying more money to run this place. And I'm not fucking paying for it...

I actually can't post this right now because of the server lol

About that - at least for Firefox, if you press the Back arrow, you're taken back to the "reply to thread" screen and whatever you typed before submitting the post is still there. If memory serves, this did not work for IE, however. I just press the back button and wait for a while before trying again.
 
Yea, I know when I'm posting these quick replies, it just tells me the server is busy without actually linking me to a new page. I've also done what you've said. However, there have been a few instances where I don't get the forums with "server busy" message... I just get a "Page not found" message. And those I can't recover.

Anyhow, it's interesting to me that it doesn't happen to everyone at the same time, even when it does occur. Having it so that Merc almost never gets it is kinda odd in itself... but that when no one on the site gets it at the same time, that seems a little peculiar. Maybe I just don't understand how a server works well enough.

Btw, I know not everyone gets it at the same time because I lurk Who's Online a lot. I can see when people are getting error messages. I laugh at them... and then it happens to me. :(

That is rather odd, I just got it twice when posting a reply before, it seems to be getting worse as the night goes on, if it's still at it tomorrow Im having a few days off, it's frustrating and unenjoyable

Although, we all know as soon as Im bored I'l come on anyway, but that's not the point -__-
