So I have an English research project in which I can choose whatever subject I wish.
My research question is: "Is there a connection between loving Anime/Manga and loving video games?"

*Though I am more interested in whatever those who love anime, love RPG games, but that will be a smaller part in the project itself.

Anyway, I must do a survey about the subject. So I hope someone can anaswer the following questions with yes or no so I get the survey done:


Do you watch Anime?

Do you read Manga?

Do you play video games?

Do you play RPG games?

Do you play Visual Novel games?

Do you prefer 2D graphics over 3D graphics?

*BTW, I need two articles from the Internet about the research question I chose, so if anybody knows any articles which speaks about the connection between Anime/Manga and video games, it can be helpful.

Honestly, I'd say that 2D graphics appeal to me more, and also 3D graphics that use cell shading.


I'd say that there is definitely a connection between loving anime/manga and loving RPGs (Japanese ones especially).

I think it'll be a good idea to do a couple of people for the survey, not just one so you can get a better answer for your survey.

No, although I'm a fan of certain anime games, like Pokemon games (not anime).

Do you read Manga?
 No

Do you play video games?
Yes

Do you play RPG games?
Yes, one of my favourite genres.

Do you play Visual Novel games?
No

Do you prefer 2D graphics over 3D graphics?
No, I like certain nostalgic games, but I'm a techy guy and I prefer updated graphics and 3D games, hell it even looks better on a 3D TV and when wearing 3D glasses.

As far as your research goes, I can't find any articles to back up my point, but what I do know is that if you're a fan of a certain film/anime/book, you will most likely play a game for it, much like if you've enjoyed a film for say Spider Man, you'll likely get the game tie-in for it just because you love the series.

So there is a connection with anime/film, generally, I mean I'd watch a Final Fantasy film even if it doesn't get good review scores.

Yes but the main RPG i play Are the Final Fantasy games, Elderscrolls: Oblivion, and Lost Odyssey.

Do you play Visual Novel games?

It depends on the game and Genre of the game.

Do you prefer 2D graphics over 3D graphics?: I'm not really that fussed if it's a good game. Graphics do play a big part when I choose a game as I want to be able to look at something decent, but it doesn't completely decide on whether I buy a game or not.

Ummm, sometimes. I prefer serious 2D graphics to serious 3D graphcis. But, like the first replier, cell-shaded 3D is possibly my favourite (like ToS and ToV). That of Alundra is my ultimate favourite though...dark but in 2D. Quite a variance I have here...but I hope I helped :)
