K first off idk if this thread is going to be closed or not, but here goes..
Do you think that SE shouldn't have called FFXIV XIV, and just made it like say an expansion of XI? Do you think that SE should have more than one MMO in the series? I personally think that they shouldn't have made an entirely new FF for it, and just like recalled XI and then re-release it as what they have been working on.

No, they should continue to make 1 player games only. when you play in an mmo, you dont feel as special as when you are by yourself. you feel like you are sharing the limelight with all the other people. you dont connect with the characters as you would by yourself.

It certainly does kill the Final Fantasy experience somewhat when someone named sk8rboi9898 comes up to you and says "free stuff plzzz!" I think like Tactics, Crystal Chronicles etc, FFXI should have been named FF Online or something, so similarly, FFXIV shouldn't be given a main FF number.

Truth be told, it is basically just a name though, realistically, it doesn't affect my decision to buy/avoid the game.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts.

If I had a say in the matter, I would have liked FFXI to be named Final Fantasy Online and FFXIV to be named Final Fantasy Online II (or something to that effect). But it doesn't really bother me too much, it's just a name after all.

"free stuff plzzz!"

Unfortunately for me, I was the nice guy who always gave them what they wanted. Either that or I'd end up giving em' money for it. I really need to work on saying NO, haha. As for MMO's being a part of the main series, I'm indifferent. I mean C'mon guys, let's be honest here, does it really bother you that much when they smack a number next to any of their games? In reality that's all it is, if you don't like it, simply don't buy it. Easy as that.

It would have been more easier to me if they wouldn't include those games in the main series, really (FFO - Final Fantasy Online, would make a nice name, or may be some kind of other name).

And why is that? Simply because I am a hardcore rater!
And what that means? It means that each time I play a game or watch anime, I just must rate it. While with anime it is not so deep (as there is too many of them) and I simply rate it from 1 to 10, it is still possible to do things more complicated things (like comparing in many different categories) with the FF games. I even have 3 different original rating systems which I have created for the very purpose of rating FFs!

So, what is actually the problem with FFXI?
Since it is one of the main FFs, I had to try it out. Aside of the fact I didn't like the game much, it just doesn't fit to my rating systems! (while all the others do).
For example, how does I supposed to rate something like "Final Boss" if it is a MMO?

That really annoys me... Should it have been a spinoff, I could overlook it, but not when it is one of the main games. And now they are making FFXIV a MMO as well... just great...

So of course I would prefer that there'll be only one MMO FF.
Even though I even prefer there will be none of them

I honestly believe that every game in the FF series (except FFX) deserves its retrospective number. Every game is unique in its own way. However, most people really don't get into MMO's all that much, so of course you're going to have people that feel as if it's some kind of sham.

The story in my opinion is great. It's rich in FF lore, and it plays somewhat like FFXII. In my honest opinion, people are just giving it a hard time because it's just not something they're used to.

Personally, I can't wait to try out FFXIV. Hopefully, it's not ran with that horrid, and I do mean horrid PlayOnline service. Setting up an account is a bitch with PlayOnline.

The only thing that bothers me is it cocks up my order of games (though I do have a copy of XI I palyed it for 5 minutes and decided it wasn't for me) so I'l have a gap between games and it iks me that it doesnt flow nicely from I through to whatever it's gunna eventually end up on.

I think FFOnline would have been more fitting ¬_¬

No, they shouldn't have been numbered. I agree with it being called FF Online, not FF XI, and XIV should be FFO-2. I hate that they made them "main" entries. They weren't Final Fantasy games by my definition but just generic online games taking advantage of the names.

I don't think it should have been an expansion, simply because FFXI is quite old now so a lot of the hardware and such like used to create it would be quite dated so I think it's only fair to create a new MMO. However, I don't think it should have been named Final Fantasy XIV. Keep the Final Fantasy bit in by all means but it should be a completely separate branch of the series and not included in the main series much like Crystal Chronicles has been laid out.
