Hey guys, im new to the forums and Im just wondering if you all rename your characters in the older FF games or if you keep there names as they are. Im about to restart FFVII , I never completed it and when i played it before i felt that adding my own names made it a more unique adventure, but now im older i think im going to leave it lol. Anyways vote away
 
i leave dim di same. i can't make up good names anyway. and its easier when you talk about everyone knows who yer talking about not some made up name.

I tried it once and got really twitchy about it, to the point I had to re start the game :wacky:

Im the same wth the colour of the menus and shit like that, I changed that once aswel (FFVII), and I had to write the numbers down so I could change it back to EXACTLY how it was :wacky:

I'm a bit weird like thst :neomon:

Restarting VII are you? Well, good luck with that. :) As for me, now, I never change the names. I just leave them as is! Of course, when I was younger I believe I did it a few times. But yes, now, I totally leave them as is. It is nice to have the option to change them! It does give you a chance to shorta make the story your own.
 
No. In order to discuss with other people who I'm talking about, I usually keep the same names so I don't get confused.

I first played through FFIX as my first game and I changed Zidane and Vivi's names at first, but then went back and default named them once I got the Namingway card later on.
 
No, I tend not to rename the characters now. Before hand, I used to change them to different names, but I guess as I grew older I prefered to keep the original names.
 
i tend to stay away from name changes. the only time I changed a name is when playing FFVI. I changed Strago's name to OLDGUY ^_^
 
I LOVE renaming my characters. xD Terrible guilty pleasure..

Anymore I only rename one or two characters, but for a long time any character that COULD be renamed, WAS renamed. xD
 
I actually remember completing a game where I renamed Yuffie, I named her after me because her mischevious character just reminded me of myself. It's like the one and only time Iv done it tho, and if I wasn't as far into the game as I was I would have probably restared as I said above, Name changing makes me twitchy :wacky:
 
Renaming characters can be fun, yes. But I tend to leave it alone because I usually love their names anyway as they are quite unique. Back when I first played VII, I did rename them, but the second time I played, I left the characters as is.

I suppose it just depends whether I like their names. For FFIII DS, I renamed three of the characters but left Arc alone.
 
once theres a chance of naming something i will name it! most of the times i name the character saber!
 
I've never changed any names, the idea of it just seems weird to me and I reckon it would kinda kill the story for me.
 
I always change Aeris' name to Aerith. If that even counts...

Oh and I once renamed Dagger "Sara" before I even found out it was her real name anyway. =D
 
I'm also quite "twitchy" about changing names, so I always keep them the same xD Come to think of it however, I'm pretty sure I renamed Tidus on FFX once seeing as how they just say "him" and don't call him buy his real name... For the most part though, it just doesn't feel right changing the character's names, it seems to take away from the story and ruin the game for me.
 
in FFIX i gave all my chacters codenames so kuja wouldnt know who they rally were lol(shudder) necnon i like to keep thing uniform so if u can rename all your chracters I like to have al there names in CAPS, now thats contentiouse,
and if u can't I leave it normal whatever that is?
 
Wow I thought everyone loves renaming characters!Am I the only one?oh yeah in Final fantasy tactics(psp version)if you name ramza something the characters sill call him ramza so whats the point of naming him?oh yeah theres a certain name you call ramza to unlock a fft musis cheat.
 
Never. The story-line of the game is most important to me, so I prefer the characters names as they originally are. I don't see the necessity to change it.
