Fan Fiction Dissidia 012 Discussion

If Vaan is definitely in, I wonder if he's actually relevant to the story this time. :gasp:

... I lol'd :tehe:

And so true, I hated Vaan from the get go in A2 because he was just Balthier in a Vaan skin :jtc: second I saw him, all I thought of was 'when do I get to kill him? -__-'

If Vaan's in, I wonder how many characters will rip into him? :hmmm: who will TOLERATE him enough to be in a party with him? He was hardly the most fun character in FF12 :wacky:

Asking a bit much, aren't you?

Anyway, I agree that Vaan was marginally better in A2, and even Revenant Wings to a degree, but a lame character who becomes a little less lame is still lame, IMO. There are several better choices than him.
I'd argue for Basch, but they've already got Gabranth, who basically already stole Basch's Quickenings.

How would Vaan even fight in Dissidia? Each character in XII has no distinguishing features other than their Quickenings, and the fact that some start licensed with different weapons. Would he just be another Bartz?

So mean. It's okay Vaan, I still like you...marginally anyways.

Someone mentioned something about the idea of a console Dissidia game. Let's see...I'd be for it, for sure, and there'd be loads of potential to pack on a Blu-ray (and it damn well better be Blu-ray -__-) but I dunno, I can't really see it happening either.

I know the .hack series and Tales of series have their own handheld cross-over fighting games for their respective series (and as far as I know, they haven't made it outside Japan), and they're on the PSP as well. I guess that's the trend?

It's been said time and again how handheld is the dominating market over in Japan, so as fans of Japanese games, we're sort of forced to just roll with what the Japanese developers make xD

I can already think of some downsides for S-E if they did contemplate a console Dissidia game >_<

There's better be a reason why Tifa doesn't seem to know who Cloud is lest I rage. That's almost worst than Wolverine and Sabertooth not knowing who they were in the first X-Men movie >.>

She's looking good though. I still wish there could be more cast members and that this wasn't an exclusive to a hand-held console that I don't have and won't be getting any time in the near future...

Tifa looks really pretty in that picture! I'm glad I was right about her forgetting who Sephiroth and Cloud were. Dang, Cloud looks kinda agro in that bottom pic. :hmmm:

I wonder what it could mean that they don't know each other... does that mean Tifa dies or returns to the real home-world by herself? After all, this is before Dissidia 1, right? Hmm, wonder what this means. :hmmm:

"agro"? :hmmm:

Actually, I wonder about how the warriors lose. They said that essentially after each battle, memories are lost, but has anyone actually died if they lost? Why not?

Agro is short for Aggravated. I bet Sephiroth is there taunting them, is what I'm sayin. :hmmm:

I never thought about the whole death-thing. I'm not too sure on what happens, either. I just know that Tifa's in this game while she's not in the later installment... why? I have no idea. That's kinda what I'd like to figure out.

Why is she in this before game and not in the after? :hmmm:

Just Square Enix's bad Ret-Cons, as usual.

I highly doubt that they will make a character die in a side game, and alternate universe at that.

Maybe Tifa's quest or journey finds closure faster than others?

I was so psyched when I saw this! She looks absolutely gorgeous. It makes me wish I had a PSP. I'd love to play the Dissidia series, and Crisis Core. :sad3:

Unlike some other characters in Dissidia 012, Tifa's character design is not based on her original appearance from Yoshitaka Amano. Tifa's costume in Dissidia 012 is identical to her original Final Fantasy VII appearance. She wears a sleeveless white tank shirt that shows her stomach with a black miniskirt and a pair of black suspenders connected to her belt. She wears fighting gloves that come up to her elbows, which have metal protecting pads, and she wears old boots. Tifa's long, dark brown hair falls below her waist and is tied at the end in a distinctive dolphin-tail split. Her eyes are a maroon color.
Her first alternate costume is based on her appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. This outfit is mostly black, her haircut is shorter and stops mid-back. A small pink ribbon is wrapped around her left bicep. [2]
In her EX Mode, Tifa wields the Premium Heart, her strongest weapon in Final Fantasy VII.

Tifa's EX Mode is Equipped Premium Heart. Her ExBurst to spin seven slot wheels with "Yeah!" "Miss" and "Hit", the same way her Limit Breaks worked in Final Fantasy VII - presumably, landing more "Yeah!" on the reels powers up her EX Burst.

Yeah, she does look pretty. Wonder why they didn't do something new for her costume, though?

dissida 2 better come out or im going to be pissedbecause it looks awsome i saw it dang it looks

I'm so glad they didn't, actually. Her original outfit is absolutely stunning, at least that's what I've always thought. I wish she had it in Advent Children, too. :lew:

So, I'm glad they kept her original outfit. :ryan: Can't wait to read more about the story line either. :lew:

Of course it will come out. Who said it might not? The first game sold well, games with Final Fantasy in their names tend to be localised nowadays anyway and if SE doesn't release it here for any reason, they're not winning themselves anymore fans.

Oh, and I believe there was a hint of a western release date as well in 2011 sometime, so there you go.

I too can't wait for an explination on why everyone forgets each other :hmmm:

As someone mentioned, the whole idea of losing memories was probably just the only thing the developers could think of to justify adding new characters to the game.

Dissidia doesn't have the best story, nor do most people expect it or really want it to, but I guess S-E still wanted to maintain the integrity of the plot. They couldn't make a direct sequel to Dissidia because the original game does end conclusively, right? So working off of the vague background story about those fabled battles before the final one, it seemed to be the only way work around it.

As for how the "losing memories, don't know each other" plot devise might work...

Perhaps none of the these characters actually know each other initially - not even the ones from the same game. Dissidia is a cross-over game, however whose to say any of the specific worlds are the same exact ones from the original FF games? The way I understand, Dissidia's just a big "what if" universe.

The interactions we've seen in Dissidia may have come about once all warriors were summoned from their original home worlds to the one where they're fighting. We really don't know how long these battles actually last. Maybe there's enough time that people got to know each other? xD

...you know, I really don't want to think to hard about this :monster:

After Seifer, I kind of want Auron to make it onto the new playable list cast ♥

On the topic of Vaan getting in. Why did they choose Vaan and not Balthier or even basch? Its really crappy if they are just going to put Vaan in..

Vaan's adorable. :mokken: But I agree, they should have put Baltheir.

Probably because...*cringe*...they see Vaan as being the "main character" of FFXII. Plus Gabranth was already in the first one, so Basch being there might be slightly redundant, although interesting (I would have liked to see that). But yeah, they should consider Balthier instead and not Vaan as he is the self-proclaimed "leading man" after all. D=

I would also say Ashe might work too. Hell she should get in Dissidia II. Vaan is such a fake lead for XII. I honestly believe it is Ashe or Basch who are the true main characters. Vaan is just too much fail. Reks can do better :dave:
