Did You Save Cid Or let Him Die?

yeah he was a pretty crappy Cid that looked like he was wearing a raincoat. but i saved him cause i like celes and for some reason i felt like i had to save him.

I was following the guide which said get a fast moving fish. The only fish there was as slow as a week in the jail. I caught it, took it back to Cid and he was dead. :(

I actually liked it better that way, as the scene was brilliant with Celes. I can imagine if you saved him it would have been a bit dull.

Celes' attempted Suicide is one of the better cutscenes in FF games, the music was timed perfectly and really fitted the scene and it made you feel really sad for Celes.

while if you save Cid it's just like - "Here's the raft, got find your friends" "ill come back for you"

Boring

I find it more interesting to make Celes attempt to kill herself, it allows us to see the rare human side of her.

Not to mention the insane amount of fish that you have to feed the poor old geezer to make him keep on yapping and stuff!

I failed at saving Cid. By the time I caught a 'yummy' fish he was dead.

I didn't LET him die, I just couldn't get him tasty enough fish ;/ I did reset several times trying to do this :( waste of time.

I have tried to save Cid but havent succeeded. But actually i really dont want to, that scene where he dies has so nice music.Although it would be nice to see dialog where survives. I find it fitting for story him to die.

I didn't even know that you COULD save Cid the first time around.
Later on, I played through that part and tried and I still didn't succeed. =[

I didn't even try, apparently my blood pressure wouldn't be able to handle trying to catch the fish :wacky:

So I left him to die, i felt rather mean letting him starve to death but oh well, at least the old blood pressure isn't through the roof for once. I just watched the Cid lives scene on youtube anyway and it was pretty naff

I doubt I will ever try to save him judging by other peoples failed attempts :gasp:

I think Cid's death really sets the mood for the World of Ruin...I mean, if you save him all he ever does afterwards is say something stupid like, "Good luck!" V_V

Once I accidentally saved him because there weren't any slow fish and it only took 3 turns. *shrugs*

I didn't even try, I don't like saving people if they want to come then welcome if they don't then GTFO, DIE.

Live and Let die! The Cid dilemma!

Now, I know what your thinkin what in the crock is this man on about?

at the beginning of the world of ruin when you have to either feed cid good fish to save him or feed him bad/starve him to kill him what do you choose?

personally I chose to kill him....now now I know what your thinkin, saddistic or emo....actually no, just a person that loves a good story :p

I find it gives more reason to celes'es motivation behind wanting to rid the world of Kefka and it makes you feel more empathy for her because she believes all her friends and everyone she ever cared about is dead, so you feel a lot more zealous about proceeding ahead with the task at hand :)

so whats do you do, and whats your reasons :)

I agree with you. Cid dying prompted Celes into suicide, but she survived and was revived by, wtf, a bird o_O

Anyways, it brought upon news hope to her and made her seek out her comrades.

Although, the first time I played through FFVI was trying to save Cid but I wasn't able to do it >_<

yea you gotta only catch the good fish or the fast fish (decent swimming speed to fast swimming speed) and avoid the slow and sluggish fish (slow deteriorates him, sluggish kill him in one)

the first time I actually saved cid, I was like...well that was erm cheesy and ever since decided to let the old man die :P

Well at first I didn't knew Cid could be saved (PSX Version) but soon after finish the game a friend of mine had told me that Cid could be saved, so when I got my GBA Copy I tried to save him, at first It was kinda annoying, since I would feed him with everything, but after understanding the pattern It was quite faster.

Personally I don't like characters dying, either heroes or villains, villains perhaps persuade them to join would be better. (Convert Kefka? :P)

And Cid is a well know guy in all the FF's saga I couldn't let him die, and If I am to replay the game again, I will save him again.
