The one thing I tend to get complimented on is my ability to handle my own in Sleeping Forest debates.

Tell me what you would want to debate against a debater like myself who some people seem to think has good/efficient points, and why you think you'll win.

Of course, when I say I'm a good debater, I could be wrong. But you get the picture.

I dont care about winning. Id just rather say what i wanna say then fuck off. Debate threads on this site are ridiculous and an absolute bore to read though 99.9999% of the time. Mostly i dont even bother posting. Not for fear of someone ridiculing me but im not a person who feels passionate about voicing my beliefs on whats right and wrong. I am very opinionated but on fff i dont think its worth bothering.

So i didnt really answer your question but this thread is old and you had no replies. I played the sympathy card.

In the end, posts get long, begin dragging, and before long, I'm reading it, but not taking it in, through one ear, out the other and all that jazz. Some debaters tend to waffle too, and in some cases, repeat themselves, leading to someone else repeating themselves, then they repeat themselves again, etc. It's a vicious cycle. D=>

There's also the fact that the internet is a very subjective place. Even when people go all "eeeh, source!" half the time, the sources themselves tend to be unreliable, or biased, i.e. religous information from athiestscorner.com or biblebashers.org. (dunno if these sites are real, but wouldn't be suprised)

There's also the fact that it just isn't that fun. I wanna do something I enjoy in my free time. Intellectual conversation is great and all, but when it leads to boring posts the size of the Eiffel Tower, and occasionally aggrssion, the fun just goes. I don't mind debating in person though, you have less of a chance of losing my attention there.

ive not seen you debating tbh so i cant comment on how well you do it - not that im in a position to judge anyones debating skillz

i think as far as religious debates are concerned theyre impossible on this site. people are set in their ways. it gets boring after about 2 posts but i cant help myself...nothing better to do either.

Online debates aren't typically worth the time. People who aren't educated on whatever topic is being discussed can easily mask their lack of knowledge by doing some quick research before posting their retort, giving the false impression that they know what they're talking about. Debates usually require quick, informed responses that are well articulated. None of that matters in an online environment.

I'm not trying to suggest that's how every online debate goes, but it's worth considering.

I love to debate online or offline. I love debating about topics I love, because you get to see different opinions and even learn in some instances. I don't debate though on this site in particular because it seems that there are too many stubborn people who just say "blah you're wrong I'm right insult insult I'm a victim.". When I debate I prefer good clean debates where someone can look at my opinion and say "Oh I see where your going but what about XYZ, etc?". I think I'm a decent debator but I'm not going to lie like I'm above average.

I wouldn't really want to debate on any particular topic though. And online there are really sensitive people who may get offended so I'd tend to go for harmless topics like food or something lol. I wouldn't say I'm going to "win" though because it kind of makes it sound competitiony when debating is (to me) more about understanding.

We can always debate, the fact that you debate well. I can honestly do this if you wish. It's all opinion, right? No need to be to big on yourself. My first debate one is, you fail to relate to your audience very well. As in often times you will come up with points, but you have a very hard time demonstrating what you mean by them. Aka no one knows what the hell you are talking about sometimes, no offense.

When I compare you to the "old" Hal, there are many errors you make in opinion based logic, instead of fact logic. You tend to not have very much support behind your points. You just have verbal diarrhea sometimes, and people can't understand your free flowing thoughts. It doesn't mean you are smart or wise either, it's honestly almost a communication error. I hate to be so hard on you, but you brought the title up, so I thought I would let you defend yourself. There is my critique.

I also have to agree with what Oli said about not wanting to win. Its not about winning for me either, Its about the exchange and comparing of ideas with others. If people only cared about winning than we wouldn't really learn anything from the debates.

I had a lot more typed but I just noticed I thought I was posting to Stella nox flueret. Those names seem a little similiar haha

After noticing this I must say I also have not witnessed you debating very much so I have no personol opinion on the matter.

However if you do not think weed should be legalized in America than I invite you to post in the thread "legalize weed in america". We can have an exchange of ideas their if you are seeking a logical debate.
