So got this game on the 5th and yes its an awesome game. I am currently fighting Tiamat at the Twilight cathedral. I know this is gonna be a great epic story! You can tell by the title that it will be a series anyway. ameplay is great story is even better but why is War so damn weak. This game reminded me of Metroid when you lose all abilities

I got this when it came out on the 8th, loving it so far. The soundtrack is epic, the graphics are gorgeous, and the gameplay is shaping up pretty well so far. I absolutely loved the flying section on the way to the Twilight Cathedral - it was like something out of Lylat Wars~<3

However, it'd be nice if the controls were a bit better. I'd love kick the moron who thought it would be a good idea to assign block and dash to the same button. Who the hell stays stationary in battle? I am constantly dashing right into an enemy and getting smacked for my troubles when I mean to block their attacks. Its extremely aggravating...of course, there might an option to change the controls around; I haven't looked yet. Too busy carving things up with The Harvester. XD

I picked up Darksiders the other day in a 3 for 1 sale, but it didn't have the "Wrath of War" subtitle to it :hmmm:

Anyways, just started on it, and it's pretty kewl. I'm used to my RPGs, but the game's pretty easy to get a hang off in terms of the basic gameplay. It reminds me of Devil May Cry oddly enough. I do admit I find myself just mashing attack to see how many random objects for some reason hold the souls of the dead xD

The premise is interesting. I'm not really familiar with the lore and mythology in the game in the first place though. I was also a little confused because War could attack...anybody. Angels, demons and humans, oh my xD

I'm just relieved the gore wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But yeah, liking it so far.

How long would a basic run through be? I'm not sure what I'm expecting to be honest.

You can beat it in Like 8 hours. It is a pretty short game if you know what you are doing and dont get any switches wrong or anything like that. If you have trouble though it can be about 10-12 hours. I love the story of Darksiders. I really enjoyed it. Wrath of War is wha tthe gam eis called but it isnt on the box.

Whoa, 12 hours at most? Knowing me, I'd tack on an extra 2 hours, but even then...Whoa, that really is short.

When I first started it, it felt like it could be the beginning of something epic and lengthy :/

Well, I guess that's what RPGs are for xD

Is there maybe some New Game+ or anyone wanna say anything about replay value maybe?

Well you can get the Abyssal armor and then play it again on apocalypse but you can us ethe Abyssal armor which makes apocalyptic mode so easy. Most of the acheivements/trophies are easy in the game tbh. I think you have to beat normal to get Apocalyptic though.. not sure :hmmm:

I rented this game then powered through it on easy difficulty. EASY IS A LIE. But there are a few moves that you can spam and pretty much kill everything that comes near. There is one with the scythe (I think it's press back, tap triangle) -- the one where basically War will swing the scythe around him 360 degrees -- you can just hold down the buttons and he'll keep doing it over and over and the critters that try to come near get their asses handed to them.

And there's another attack, with the gauntlets, basically slamming the ground. This too can be spammed and it's VERY effective for those banshee-ghost-floaty-scissors-bitch monsters. They come later in the game, but can be a real pain, especially when you have to fight 2 or 3 of them at a time. But spamming this groundslam attack deals with them nicely. :)

Just thought I'd share that....

Like Fusionist said, the combat system is a lot like Devil May Cry, but DMC continues to be a bit simpler and more intuitive combat IMO. It took way too damn long to get that gun in Darksiders.

My favorite part is where you finally get Ruin. :hyper: Running down idjits has never been more fun! But I absolutely hated the part in the desert area, where you have to hit the time-slowing thing then quickly run up the wall and the ceiling before the big drill hits you? That part SUCKED LEMONS.

But yeah, overall, I had a lot of fun with this game. Abyssal armor kicks ass. I oddly felt like I was participating in a demonic version of Whack-A-Mole when fighting Stalagma the 2nd time around. :| If some of you haven't gotten that far yet, you'll soon see what I mean.

The story was fairly interesting as well, but I disliked that humanity was just totally written off. Call it human pride, but.... do you have any idea what an M1 Abrams tank is capable of? Talk about demon souffle. Sorry leather-winged idiots wouldn't know what hit em!

But, I digress...

I'm glad they're bringing in the other horseman for the sequel, though. And I'm glad they're taking their time making the second one, instead of making crap sequels every year that *coughHalocough* others have suffered from. :)

I like how Dragon Mage just revealed a lot of the main story points. :awesome:

Anywho, it IS a pretty short game if you know how to power through it; I've beaten it two times, once by myself and a second time for my friend, who just wanted to watch me get him trophies. :-)hmph:) However, if you're a trophy collector/item collector, the game will take a bit longer...as their is like 30-40 collectible "medal" things that can be traded in to Vulgrim (sp? been a while) for souls, four legendary weapon enhancements, 8 normal weapon enhancements, a whole bunch of health and wrath cores, and the ten parts of the Abyssal Armour that you can collect to give yourself a super cool black armour that pretty much makes you take virtually little damage.

<3 Can't wait for the sequel.

Hey! I didn't say what Ruin was, and only a bad walkthrough would spoil that! And anyone who's played an action game before knows that the Undefeated Big Bad will return later in the game so you make hand him a Roaring Rampage of Revenge! Just looking at how much DESIGN, artistically, that goes into some monsters can tell you if you're going encounter them again or not.

And humanity gets wiped out in the box description of the game. And within the first 5 minutes of the game (less, if you skip a cutscene). So har. And the fact that the other horseman are going to be in the sequel was old news, I thought? I mean... once you have fun playing as War, you're going to want to play through as the others.... it's a natural progression of the game. :|

So! Hidden story points are hidden! Ha!

But, truth be told, I don't think I could even spoil the actual story-line. :wacky: I forgot quite a bit of it now and I'm too lazy to go look it up again. xD
