Prosecutors have charged Angelo Vidal Mendoza Sr., 34, with mayhem, torture and child cruelty. He's being held in the downtown jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Neighbors called police on April 28 and reported they found the child naked and bleeding on the floor of the Mendoza home on Ohio Drive, near Highway 58 and Union Avenue.

Police located the wheel-chair-bound Mendoza at a nearby house, where he had severely injured his own leg, witnesses said, by chopping at it with an ax.

The boy had severe injuries to both eyes and hands, according to a police report. He told officers, ''Daddy bit my eyes and hands.''

''It was determined Mendoza was the only person alone with his son during the time of the assault,'' the police report said.

Hospital staff told detectives the boy's ''left eye and muscle was gone and missing.''

His ''right eye was still in the socket but damaged beyond repair,'' the report said.

The boy ''later made the statement, 'Daddy ate my eyes,''' the report said.

This is horrible beyond belief. I doubt rehab is possible for that kind of insanity. I hope he gets the maximum penalty allowed for by law.

That's obnoxiously cruel; and I believe the worst part is that he may very well be able to claim insanity in our absolutely vile American Justice System.
 
That's pretty horrific to say the least.

I'll never understand what posseses people to do shit like that. Beyond belief.

What else would he claim, I mean no one in there right mind would do this. He was either hopped up on some drug or was completely crazy, in which he shouldn't be looking after kids anyways. I mean dont you usually notice a habit like that, eating body parts?

That's great and all, but it's absolute bullshit because SOMEONE has to be at fault here. Nobody has a normal life; then up and goes insane on day, eating his own toddler son's eyeball. If he was mentally ill and took stabilizing drugs, or he had some form of substance abuse addiction; then there was SOMEONE at fault for allowing him to look after a child. I mean, he was wheelchair-bound; he couldn't have been the only one caring for the boy, right?
In either case; insanity is too easily thrown about in frivolous lawsuits as it is, so just bolstering its usefulness in such a big instance like this case would just encourage people to evade responsibility as a human being.

I completely agree, I am just saying that is what is going to happen. I mean no matter what kind of lawyer this guy gets(not that he deserves one) that lawyer is going to plead insanity. He doesnt deserve it and completely deserves going straight into the chair, and whoever decided to let this guy watch over the kid also deserves to be punish severely.
 
Wow. SHOCKING! Prison will do him some good. (If he goes) Sure chances are he'll die once his inmates realize what hes in for. And i'm glad too. HE doesn't deserve the life hes given. Sending him to hell would be too good for him, shiz. I really want to meet him. The only requirement is i need sulfuric acid. Drip it on his valuables so he cant reproduce ever. Then watch as it makes it's way through his body. All the while laughing.

As some of you have already noticed I'm very disturbed in my ways of dealing with scum like this. Maybe I'm insane to a degree? Who knows. But hey, atleast i don't go around doing this kinda shit, fuck.

It IS child cruelty, isn't it?

It's their body part, so why does he want to damage it? plus it's his son. That just doesn't make sense how people want to harm other people just for the sake of it. It's just wrong to EAT a body part of a relative or a friend as well.
 
Oh good god! That just made me really sick to my stomach... x_x What a sick bastard! That poor child! He's going to need SO much therapy. The sad part is no matter how much therapy he receives he'll still remain messed up from that experience and cannot have a normal life away from his father... The poor thing..

This is true, but sadly enough; there's only so much you can do for the child. It's one thing to face adversity if you're born deaf or the like. However; he had the sense of sight for 4 years, but it was that quickly taken from him. Also, yes, his father is now gone. Granted; many children don't have their fathers for whatever reason, but it seems as though the father was the only relative he had to care for him. Between becoming blind and going into foster care; he's going to need a hell of a lot of hope.

That's the weird thing; it doesn't seem to have just been for the sake of it. What reason did the father have to go off and start hacking at his own legs, then? Of course they'll be able to plead insanity because, well shit, just look at what happened. The problem is, if the father had a problem; then why was he allowed to look after the child alone?

You know what the toughest defense to win is? Insanity.

Somewhere between 90 and 95% of not guilty by reason of insanity pleas result in a guilty verdict. And even if the defense works, he still goes into a government-sponsored looney bin for the rest of his life. Or until he's heavily medicated and the treatment works. Either way he's off the street. And more importantly, no longer procreating.

That makes perfect sense, but how many people who try to use that defense are wheelchair-bound folks caught attempting to hack off their legs with an axe? o_O
In practice, it sounds great that he's not having kids, but lest we forget; it seems as though the one he already had; then scarred for life; was normal enough.
 
I wonder if the father was abused by his parents or maybe he was brought up and witnessed abuse himself usually it's the case.

that Kid is going to have to grow up now with all those horrible memories off what his dad did to him i hope it doesn't mess him up after what he has been through it's going to be hard for him

True, it's happened before, but in previous instances where parents were abused as children themselves; then abuse their own kids; was it ever so extreme as to eat their child's eyeball?

Its really disgusting. I dont really know what to say as i just dont understand why someone would do that, its just horrible. BY the sounds of it the guy wasnt in his right frame of mind if he was also beating at his leg with an axe. However i dont think that warrants him the insanity pass, he should be punished. There really needs to be a better system implemented so they can find people like this who have children and give them the appropriate medical help and or take the child into care. Hopefully a repeat of this will never happen.
 
If they recieve any accusation of doing what daddy had just done (eating the child's eye) they'll just deny. only a few people say the truth because they didin't want others to know they treat his son like Baby P in England. its such a horrible story. the best thing for the judges to do is to send him to some sort of detention centre for lunatics because obviously he doesn't know what he is doing, torturing a poor child like that.

I'm getting to the point where these stories don't really shock me anymore, all these sick fucks about nowadays, it's something new everyday, but this one did make me feel sick though, I was eating when I read it and it threatened to come back up -_-

I think he should just be left to rot in a cell with no comfort or company or anything, make him suffer, the chairs the easy way out (or lethal injection, whatever it is these days) tbh, I don't understand what posses people to do things like this, that poor child is fucked up for life

Yup your right, its sad that in the modern age, where people have the intelligence to act nicely to eachother, there are still people acting like barbarians. What makes it worse is when it happens to kids, they cant defend themselves, cant fight back and they never did anything to deserve it in the first place. =(
