Help Cosmo Canyon glitch help???

I'm looking for some help getting passed part in cosmo canyon where their is a video about the life stream blah blah on the ps1.. i get to a convo message where he says that is the basic knowledge of the life stream or something like that and then nothing.. all i can do is run around.. no new convos or nothing. Can someone help?
 
What disc is it on? Have you tried leaving the area? Tried to interact with inanimate objects with little relevancy to the conversation you just had?
 
its disk 1.. i cannot leave because the hover car i recieved broke down and i'm not allowed to leave the area... i can run around and do anything but when it comes time to pick 2 people and go up to the lab and watch that video of the space model.. i can't do anything after that.. bugonon or whatever just is up there floating... one person i can run thru, the other person i can't, neither to which i can talk to.. i'm guess its a freeze of some sort but it happens every single time. i did buy this game used but i haven't had a single problem with it till now.
 
If the machine has finished showing you the movie you should be able to leave the room and join Red XIII and the rest of the party at the camp fire. If you're still in the machine, try pressing circle on anything that might be floating around. If that doesn't work your game is probably broken.
 
You could always take your memory card to a friend's house (who has the game of course) and play that particular part of the game on their game. I know I've done it before. :dave: That the only choice I'm afraid.

EDIT - At least it would be the only choice if I wasn't lying. What a liar I am.

You could be extra determined and play the same part multiple (and by multiple I mean as many as it takes) times and hope you get lucky.
 
ya it sounds like i'm going to have to become an expert of the life stream.. any good ideas on how to wipe down/clean the disk to maybe get this thing to go thru? thanks for all your help by the way
 
Its fine :lew:

In British games stores they have a device that files down discs to remove small scratches. I'd imagine it would be similar in the US/Canada/Australia. It won't work on deep scratches however, I've tried :sad3:
 
I don't think cosmo canyon is compulsory..........If you are where I think you are,then your meant to be heading to Nibelheim.........If you are skip going to Cosmo Canyon and head to Nibelheim.

But..........If this is your first time plaing this game I suggest you try find a way round Cosmo Canyon, it will give you information about the story and Nanaki (Red XIII).
 
There's a construction worker wandering around the centre of the town, if you tell him you are not here to study he will fix your buggy and then you should be able to leave Cosmo Canyon :)

!!!!! Dark shadow i hope your right.. no this is not my first time thru the game, just my first time experiencing this.. i don't need the back ground story so if i can just avoid the canyon after getting out of the gold saucer prison and head straight to nibelheim i should be good? let me know as this is going to make me start a new game and my characters are pretty sweet right now for the stage of the game i'm in.
 
Cosmo Canyon is compulsory. You can't skip it. If you try to drive around it, your car will just break down and you can't run because you need the buggy to cross the shallow river to get to Nibelheim.

I've never had the game freeze at that part but I do remember being confused as to what to do next. If you're unable to leave the area, which I think you're supposed to do once he stops talking then it may be a game freeze. You can try swapping disks (put in disk 2 and see if it will unfreeze the game; I remember doing that quite a few times with my old copy of FFVII) and then swap back once you get out of that area.
 
You cant get to neibelheim until the buggys fixed look for the construction mechanic dude hell fix you up and send you on your way.....
 
It sounds like he's getting stuck on the screen where you actually watch the video of the lifestream and how planets are born and die, etc. That's what I was referring to in my post. :hmmm:

If he's just trying to get out of cosmo canyon altogether, I think after the scene where they sit around the fire and Cloud talks to them, you go to sleep and the buggy should be fixed in the morning.
 
Yeah you do need to talk to him to ask him to fix the buggy. :hmmm:

I'm not sure what happens if you don't but I'm guessing the buggy doesn't fix itself. :lew:
 
It could just be that this NPC was overlooked when entering Cosmo Canyon, since I know I wouldn't go and talk to EVERYONE
 
Where exactly are you stuck? have you been through Gi cave yet? if your stuck in the room the above poster mentioned try the disc swap technique if that dosnt work your overlooking something
