Contraception

I took the Pill for about 2 years while I was with my ex. I noticed that the only side effect it *Seemed* to give me was weight gain but I think that might just have been me being a lazy turd and my metabolism failing me.

I have recently started taking it again because it's really good for my skin and I haven't noticed any side effects yet :hmmm:

I have the IUD (re: vagina stick) for almost a year now and it's been fab. Same as the injection.. periods waned, no massive mood swings or cramps or nothing. It saves me money too. I was on the pill once (20 bucks) but couldn't keep up with the exact same moment/time of every day. I needed something longer term. It cost me roughly 325$ for a five year term... hard all at once, but score in the long run.

I've decided not to have a kid for a few years anyway and the IUD is good for 4 more years so maybe by then I'll be ready.

I had my yearly yesterday and I told my OB I want OFF of Yaz. I've been on it since I was 18 and the pill worked wonders for me when I started taking it. I had horrible mood swings beforehand and I missed at least a day or two of school during the month from cramps...that I suffered through for 4 years until I could man up enough to get into the doctors :( I've never had acne luckily so I can't say it really affected that. I don't have blood pressure issues either or anything....but with the recent FDA warnings and etc I knew I needed to switch before I stroked out or got a PE or something.

He prescribed me Loestrin yesterday so we'll see how that goes. It's just a lower dose of BCP so I figure the less hormone I take, the better. He DID also say to expect lighter periods...ones that might even eventually stop completely (which did kind of freak me out) but he made me promise I wouldn't freak out about it if it did happen :lew:

I can't take any form of birth control because of my hypothyroidism, but I don't need it anyway since I don't have sex. However, when I first started my medicine for my thyroid to give me more hormones, I was crazy as a loon. My boyfriend was so depressed because I was so mean to him all the time. I guess that goes the same for birth control, as well. Both birth control and synthroid have major affects on our hormones.
