Okay, I just got into Cloud's story. First of all, the battles are boing since Sephy annhiliates everyone before Cloud can get a taste, and from what I've heard, this takes approx. 45 game hours to finish. 55 if you do everything. My questions are these:

1. Does it really take that long to get through?

2. Is it really relevant to make it go that long?

3. What are your thoughts on it?

Well it allows you to get to know the story with more detail and understand it better...i don´t remember taking that long to finish it though...maybe about 20 minutes or something around that time.

1. 45 hours is not long and its about 50 hrs to finish about 99+ hours to get everything you want.

2. i dont know if the average RPG game is supposed to be this long, but the game is so good, it should have been longer than FFX

3. I loved the game 10/10 storyline

actualy pro testors getting everything played 72 hours and that was the least amount of time for them but that is all side quests materias characters leveling ect. ect.

I thought you meant at first that the whole 'Cloud's story' thing was 50 hours long. I would've said, no way! XD.

Then I realized you were talking about the whole game. 45 hours isn't even nearly as long as I what I had to do to beat this game. Even if it was, you'd probably be underleveled for the final boss anyway.

I think it's totally relevant that the game is that long, as it actually had a pretty darn good story to back it up. In fact, I never even noticed that I had spent that much time playing the game as it was so good.

In my opinion......all games should copy this formula of success, unlike some games that's all graphics but no story at all to make it good. I prefer a balance of both.

The game overall shouldn't take that long. 45 - 55 hours sounds just about right. But, if you're doing all the sidequests, level all them up to 99 and all that jazz, then expect over 100 hours of gameplay. That's how I did it. I like to take my time when playing an RPG game.

Hmm, I would think that it is indeed relevant for the game to be that long. The story of VII is extremely complex and you should always remember that. There are many twists and turns and surprises, so it's only natural that the gameplay results in that manner of timing.

My thoughts? Hah, one of the best games I've played, that's for sure. It's that good. Of course, some may not agree, which is fine since this is all entirely based on my opinion. So you decide. Go play it and find out if the game is really worth your time. ^_^

 Actually... I was talking about the whole 'Cloud's story' thing. I just misunderstood my friend. i asked him how long cloud's story would take, because i didn't like the battles. Sephy did all the work. I guess he thought that I meant the whole game. I was suprised that I finished it in 30 minutes instead of the 45 hours I expected to be in for. He said that he beat the first disc in 24 hours on a speed run, so I figured that it really was that long. I guess I shouldn't call the Nebelheim sequence 'Cloud's story' anymore... I'm so sorry if I confused anyone!!!

its still going to be a long ride when you play the whole game though.

clouds story

I dont mind story times but if Clouds personal story was gonna be 50 hours long i dont think i would have stood and listened to it......its kind of like listening to that old man in final fantasy x or x2 who tells you a story and if you dont listen to it he says "pity" yet if you dont listen to his stories you dont get 100 percent finish o fthe game
Just storylines are okay but if 1 character takes 50 hours to talk about i would have never bothered :P
