Christmas Trees: Real or Artificial?

I used to get the ones that were covered in white, it's a chore getting rid of real ones after christmas is over though so i don't bother getting those anymore. Artificial ones are the way to go for me, hell if people can't tell it is one and not real it's fine with me. x]
 
Well, i've never had a real Christmas tree to be honest so, I can't really say which I prefer but, we always did an artificial tree. Which, was always a pain in the arse to put up and, took a long ass time. Then when Christmas was over, we never wanted to take it down xD.


Though, I think seeing the Christmas tree up all pretty though, it was worth it :) I like seeing the lights and, we always use to put it in our living room and, it lit the entire room :)
 
My parents don't like the idea of purchasing a real tree. Firstly, my mother is very ethically minded when it comes to buying trees that have been chopped down (in significant numbers) somewhere in the world just to be used in a house very briefly every year. Secondly, she doesn't like the thought of having a real tree in the house. She likes the living room spick and span, basically. My dad just can't be bothered with the idea of buying one annually, so we've kept our 6" artificial tree for quite a while now. In fact, we're now hesitant in replacing it as we've used it for many years now. I myself have never really felt the need to have a real tree. True, it may bring a proper atmosphere, but I focus more on other sides to Christmas than the tree itself.
 
We have had our Christmas Tree for as long as I can remember.. yes it is old. My mum likes it in the living room upstairs but we always used to have it downstairs till long ago we decided that the Christmas tree will be put up upstairs every year. Probably because of all the furniture downstairs. In my opinion it doesnt matter which tree you have. For me it is the decorations and christmas spirit that matters here.. We have an Arteficial tree as I dont like the idea of getting a tree and then scrapping it after christmas. This one is still pretty even if it is really old. So in my honest opinion it does not matter which tree you have real or arteficial.. An Arteficial one is the same as a real one as long as it feels like Christmas.
 
I HATE MY CHRISTMAS TREE. I don't like the plastic smell, or look. I had to build it by myself, and half my family doesn't participate in decorating it. For me, a real tree seems to spread more joy. At least, that's the way in my family.
 
We have a real christmas tree that we buy every year, which is quite a beastly bugger :hmmm: I don't think they're that hard to look after, the only place bits drop off is actually around the tree anyway and that can be quickly hoovered up after it's been taken down and then we chop it up and use it for firewood anyway so it's not wasted.
 
Definitely a real tree. It's worth all the mess and fire to have the smell of the tree and all that. I'm more than willing to risk a squirrel attack if it means having the tree in the house. We never had a fake tree, but I still feel it just wouldn't be the same. It wouldn't feel like Christmas.
 
If you live in a country house, you should get a real tree. If you live in a new, contemporary house, you should get an artificial tree.

The reason being is because having a fake tree in a country house just amplifies the artificiality, and having a real tree in a contemporary, urban house makes the tree seem out of place.

There are some exceptions, though. For example, if you live in an old townhouse in Manhattan or something, a real tree might be a good touch. It's all about the theme, really. You want a Christmas tree to complement your house.
