Characters that you hated at first, but then ended up liking

hmm... for me, i would have to say Tidus. I thought he was so annoying and such a little brat and all but as the game went on, I started to like him as a character. He ended up with a great personality and he made the ending that much better.

When it comes to Final Fantasy, I usually don't end up liking characters once I decide I hate 'em.

I ended up liking Tidus the more I played the game. He ended up being a better character than I had originally thought, and after awhile I really started liking him.

I also began to really like Selphie the further I got into FFVIII. I thought she was very annoying at first, but when you find out about her past later on, it made me change my mind about her. Plus the ending with her was hilarious.

For me it was Seymour (I actually nearly wrote See More XD).

At first I couldn't see past the whole "WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!!!!" part, but now I understand his character a whole lot better - about how his means and reasoning behind wanting to become Sin actually affect the game. At first I thought he was just pointless.

I hated Irvine he was such a wuss!!! totally pointless character I was so furious when he wouldn't take the shot on Edea for Ages!! But he kinda started to grow on me sometime around my fifth go through the game

Steiner. I absultely hated this guy in the beginning and I couldn't wait until I dumped him from the party. The bad thing was, that never happened. I was hoping he would be fled from and Zidane and Co. would have left him in the dust miles behind after he was so persistent on bringing Garnet back to Alexandria.

However, I think once he realized that the Queen wanted only personal gain from Garnet and it eventually put her daughters life in danger without concern, Steiner turned from heated enemy to me, to strong ally in battle and during the whole adventure.

He was just misunderstanding the greater purpose, but in all fiarness, no one knew what was really going on behind closed doors 'til late in the game anyway, so it's all good.

I Greatly disliked Yuffie to no extenet haha, I seen her as a little annoyence, then when she stole my materia i was furrious, but after beating the game i found her humorus, and now i have grown to like her.

And also to turn the tables when i first played FFVIII i liked squall i thought he was pretty bad ass, but then as the story progressed, i began to dislike him more and more, because he seemed like such a cry baby.. and he got too soft lol
but then i found out thats who he really was..

Well I'll go with Squall...let's face it, I really don't like a lot of things about the guy...but when I'm actually playing the game, I respect him more for being the leader of the pack.
(Even if he doesn't want to be). XD

Mine was Steiner. He was that typical overzealous protector of truth and justice, and gets in the way SO MUCH it's just really tiring. He was the antagonist in almost every situation. However, he eventually comes to be likable, and a valuable asset to the party. I especially liked his relationship with Vivi, and how unconventional it was. :D

hate then like

i hated yuffie in 7 but then in dirge of cerberus because i do get quite a bit attached to the game emotionally i liked her when she saves vincent from rosso in the mansion i even started crying

Baltheir for me. I hated him when he first joined the party, but as I got further in the game i started to like him a lot. Ended up being my second favorite character in XII behind Basch of course.

i hated ashe from XII as a character...wait i still do...

one character who my opinion of changed is actually eiko from IX, at first she was annoying as hell, but then the sympathy thing (almost last of her kind) kicked in and i liked her a teeny bit more than before

I hated Rinoa because she just used to annoy me. I was never a fan of Rinoa/Squall but then the ending was just so sweet. Now I can (sort of) stand her.

At first, I really despised Garland. I thought he was cruel to not just Zidane, but Kuja as well. But then when he died, I actually felt bad for the guy. He was just trying to save his planet, but had a horrible way of doing it.

I really hated Eiko ate first, too. I thought she was a little brat. But then after a little while I found her very comical, so I started liking her more.

I hated Aeris for such a long time(mainly because she was annoying, and I really found her selfish at times)
but now I like her quite a bit still not as much as Tifa though

Lulu, because I found her to be cold and condescending, but in recent playthrough's I actually really liked her.

Jecht, because he was a bad father, but he's actually hilarious, if you end up watching all the Jecht spheres. It's comedic gold.

The first time I played FF7, I absolutely hated Aerith. She was such a flirt all of the time, and she seemed to be the typical damsel in distress, so I didn't take an immediate liking to her. As the game progressed though and you found out more about her character, my opinion completely changed and she became one of my favorite characters.

I also didn't really like Lulu the first time I played FFX because she always seemed so mean and grouchy. When I found out the reason why she was that way though, and watched her change throughout the course of the game, I really came to like her.

Here's one nobody else seems to have mentioned. Cloud. I didn't like him at the start of the game because he seemed to apathetic and was only interested in the money. I still don't really understand what Tifa/Aerith saw in him, considering the cold, stony appearance and attitude I felt he had. But as the game progressed and his history developed, I did come to like him more.
