Can you even bother to pick this game up and play it anymore?

There have been many new final fantasies. Can you still go back to its roots and play the fossil that is final fantasy I. I can at least play the gba remake. what about you?

I've played it once, just to say that I have. Never again. I hated it. It'l ju st sit gathering dust in my collection now...more than I can say for FFII though, I played that for half an hour before deciding I was never EVER gunna play it...maybe one day

But no; I doubt I'l ever play FFI again

I tried to play it (I had to, I did buy it for £10 where I live) and finish it, but the grinding was just something I couldn't be bothered to do.

It is simply a case of entering a dungeon (before the Tiamat boss battle) and hammering the X button continuously to choose "Attack". Boring.

<Back to Kingdom Hearts II>

I played it, in both the GBA and NES formats. I like it: It is simple, elegant, and timeless. And, contrary to the opinions above, I think that there is a ton of strategy: Rationing your spell charges, making sure that you are well equiped before you leave town, making sure that you have items necesary to combat all of the different ailments, finding every chest, etc. I think that the GBA version is far too easy, but that is my only gripe.

And @ Stella: If there was ever a game that only involved mashing the x button it is Kingdom Hearts II. Don't get me wrong, great game, but I think that FFI has far more strategy

Uh brought this game a month ago and loved the opening and everything., but screwed up pretty early and got lost after just defeating the pirates.

Stopped playing, though want to pick it up again and start from the beginning again.
It has a small storyline and not great on graphics. But It has the Red Mage class.

Red Mage = Win

And Garland

= Even more Win

I have the PSX remake (the one bundled with FFII). I quite enjoy it, but I don't think I'd be able to play the original NES version.

I haven't finished this game yet, and the only motivation I have for finishing it is purely to say that I have beaten the original. Then again, the PSX version is apparantly eaier than the NES version, so perhaps I won't earn bragging rights by completing it.

I think I pick up the FFI anniversary Edition too much. I love the game :D
I have already told before why I pick it up, but eh...
It´s so classical and feels so epic. Sometimes, I get bored of the music, but it´s still a great game ^^

I started playing FF2 like last month, but I never got around to finishing that. Screw FFIX, I've got to finish number 2!

I just replayed one 3-4 months ago too. Can't get enough of em. :P

Well Ive only played the psp aniverssary edition Final Fantasy I. Well its not that great imo but it will do if you want to play a classic. All the other Final Fantasy's are much better. I did like the antagonist Garland though. I mean he was pretty cool. FFI is pretty fun but it gets really boring once you beat the game. I just played it to revive The classic thats all. No Im not going to play this another time because I have better games.

I'd say FFI is one of the most replay-able FF games. Just because you can choose your party and design them differently every time.

I think my first playthrough I had two fighters, a black mage, and a white mage. But then I can play through it again with any combination I like, which changes the gameplay drastically.

I couldn't care less about the graphics or how outdated it is, it's all about the gameplay. :P

I would love to give this game a shot. I bought it about 2 years ago, but Aztec had it borrowed along with FFII (FF Origins) and so it just slipped my mind and I never got around to it. When I left for Boot Camp I left all my Playstation games home so I'm not sure when I'll be able to pick it up again or when I'll have time to give it a shot.

Otherwise though, I'd love to get into it and dive into the story/game. Graphics shouldn't bother me too much, I just wanna know where to go in the game so I don't get lost in a big field for 4 hours with no healing potions and junk.

yeah actually my friend just got this game for his old NES and I go over there and play this all the time :D

I am currently playing FFI on the GBA and I am pleasantly surprised with the game. I thought I would just play through it to give it a chance, or to just say I played it but I am really enjoying it.

After I'm done playing it I'll be going on to FFII but I'm sure one day I'll replay this game. :)

I sure did! :highfive:

Played the GBA remake first, but got lost on the world map and decided to not play it (mainly because I wasn't serious about it and stopped playing it for something like 2 months. Wasn't much of a FF fan back then).

After some time I have decided to finish all FFs. I wanted to start the GBA remake from the beginning, but then decided to play the original NES version.

I liked it much more than the GBA version, as it was much harder and challenging. While it had some annoying moments and I had to train a lot (and I am not the type who loves doing too much training), I have to admit I have enjoyed it a lot.
I very liked the plot, the world and I found the dungeons' maps both original and annoying, but in a good way (challenging actually).
