All right imagine a Final Fantasy based game where you not only get to create your own character but you can decide who'd be in your party which you'd find during game play before beginning and that selection can come from ANY of the Final Fantasy characters from any of the previous games :awesome:

It's basically you being able to command your own Final Fantasy Team of awesomeness. You get up to seven mandatory allies. These are members of your team you run into no matter what you do. Then you can choose to add two optional allies that you can either find or leave (Like Vincent and Yuffie from FFVII) giving you a total of nine allies in all. Including you that's ten people.

And with your mandatory allies you can choose the order in which you find them changing the order of events in game play. Like for example if you choose to run into Aerith first the game starts out with you falling through her Church ceiling and landing into her flower bed. Or if you choose to find Lighting first the game starts off a lot like the beginning of FFXIII.

After collecting the seven mandatory members of your party you can get a ship and travel to any of the various Final Fantasy worlds. This amount of fan service almost sounds shameful.

So if this kind of game actually existed who would be your team? My team would be,

Mandatory Members

1.) Aerith Gainsborough
2.) Vivi
3.) Irvine Kinneas
4.) Lady Yuna
5.) Vincent Valentine
6.) Auron
7.) Tifa Lockheart

Optional Members

8.) Lighting
9.) Squall Lionheart

Aerith can beat things with her staff, Vivi can burn them, Irvine can snipe them, Yuna can summon some big monster to stomp on enemies, Vincent can just shoot the hell out of them and then rip them apart with his claw, Auron can slash them, Tifa can beat them within an inch of their life with her fists while Lighting and Squall just tear things apart with their swords. :awesome:

Mandatory Members:

1)
Rajin (FF8)
2)
Fujin (FF8)
3)
Squall (FF8)

5)
Laguna (FF8)
6)
Kiros (FF8)
7)
Ward (FF8)

Optional Members:

8) Zell (FF8)
9) Vivi (FF9)

If I cant pick Rajin and Fujin then it would be Auron (FFX) and Wakka (FFX)

7) I would choose Yuna.

Optional Members

Instead of just listing who you would like, how about we all explain why as well? :)

-------

Er... this is a really hard choice. I love so many of the characters XDDD

1) Irvine. Because... I adore him. Irrationally, but I do, even though he has like... no development after the story focuses on Squall and Rinoa XD

2) Eiko. Because using a flute to attack is just awesome. :wacky: And she's an epic white mage, too.

3) Vanille. Her weapons are awesome and she's gorgeous, plus I don't mind her voice acting as much as some people. :wacky:

4) Rikku. Love her. <3 She's my favorite FFX character, though it's really hard to pick between her, Auron, and Lulu. I need a thief in my game, I can't do without. =[

5) Auron. I need someone strong with a sword, and he's my choice.

6) Penelo. I always used her as my mage in FFXII, and while I have Eiko for a white mage and probably Vanille as a black mage/debuffing mage, I want a green mage/red mage combo too. Mages. <3

7) Larsa and his endless supply of hi-potions. Can't have Penelo without Larsa. <.< >.> Plus I loved him, and not just for his potions.

Optional
8) Setzer. Gotta have a gambler, they're one of my favorite classes. :monster:

9) I don't knooooow... Maybe... OH. Amarant, he's freaking GODLY with a mage team. Plus I like his weapon. :3

Mandatory members (in order):
Eh I rather not include myself in the game. It's kinda odd. So the very first character will be Zack, specialised in short-ranged attacks.
1.) Aerith (lol she's really popular) - specialised in white magic
2.) Cid Highwind - specialised in short-ranged attacks too.
3.) Vivi - specialised in black magic
4.) Quina - specialised in support/status effect magic (and eating)
5.) Quistis - specialised in blue magic
6.) Fran - specialised in long-ranged attacks

Optional:
1.) Edea - specialised in arcane magic (dark, pain, etc)
2.) Montblanc (FFXII moogle) - specialised in summoning

Villain: Andromeda, Ultimecia's sister

Ok here goes the story: SPOILERS FROM VARIOUS GAMES
-This story took place after the endings of all games chronologically. Means characters who have died at the end of the game, are dead in the game, unless they are revived.
-Zack and Aerith are given a second chance to live by Andromeda.
-Andromeda managed to contact them through the Gilgamesh Junction Machine, a new gadget designed by the FFVIII future doctor Odin. Odin made this based on the dimension-travelling Gilgamesh
-unknown to these two heroes, Andromeda has an evil plan.
-In exchange for their revival, Andromeda wants an extract from the lifestream. Zack and Aerith didn't know that Andromeda has the power to compress space using the GJM with lifestream as fuel (lol cheesy)
-so when they were revived, they found themselves in a mysterious, compressed world from FFI-FFXIV. They meet familiar and unfamiliar characters and soon stumble upon Cid Highwind from their own world.
-Since this compressed world is extremely huge, Cid's airship is available in the beginning of the game.
-Cid told them that Andromeda is now the leader of this compressed world.
-The three then decide to foil Andromeda's domination and undo the compression.
-Soon they found a strange individual with a pointed hat, lying unconsciously. He was Vivi, who has 'stopped' since the end of FFIX. While the world of FFIX has no technology to revive black mages, Cid could easily revive Vivi, and gave him the lifespan of a normal human.
- So Vivi joins the party. He wants to find the truth about life while travelling with them. They soon recruited Quina too (she wants to eat more food from the other worlds)
- Throughout their journey, they meet more familiar faces like Zidane, Cloud, etc. But too bad in this game they are just NPCs. :P
- Cid's airship almost collided with the airborne Balamb Garden. The four heroes then made friends with Squall and co. Quistis, who was very knowledgeable, joined the party. Cid's Highwind is then superimposed into Balamb Garden to create a new airship with better capabilities.
- Lastly, Fran joined the party as she found out Andromeda will use FFXII's mist next to make the GJM more powerful in addition to lifestream. As a Viera, she won't let this happen.
- Andromeda successfully gained control of FFIX's and FFXII's mists as new sources of energy, sacrificing many lives in the process.
- The party discovers that the GJM is invincible after having these new energy sources. It can only be destroyed using the hearts of each world (from FFI to FFXIV, excluding spin-offs).
- So they travel all around the world to find the fourteen hearts (LOL kingdown hearts).
- Each heart has a guardian in the form of ultimate summon. For example, FFVIII's guardian is Eden, FFXII's guardian is Zodiark. After beating these guardians, you can summon them if you have montblanc.
- So finally they found all the hearts and then go to Andromeda's castle. Before they can destroy the GJM, Andromeda set 14 seals (just like in the original game), preventing the characters from using their abilities. To unlock each seal, they have to beat boss monsters.
- The final boss is obviously Andromeda. Andromeda take 5 forms: Normal Andromeda, Sin Griever (Lol Sin bahamut), Sin Griever junctioned into Andromeda, Andromeda's true form (like last boss of FFVIII), then Andromeda junctioned into the GJM forming a very powerful ultimate monster. In this last resort, Andromeda sacrifices her sorceress powers to junction herself.
- The party managed to destroy Andromeda. She does not have to pass on her sorceress powers because it was destroyed when she junctioned herself to the GJM.
- Finally, with Andromeda beaten and the GJM destroyed, each world slowly drifts apart and go back to their normal states.
-As the characters said goodbye, Aerith and Zack fade and go back to the restored lifestream as the GJM is now destroyed and their revival is no longer valid.

Note:
-Edea can be attained after Highwind merged with Balamb Garden. She's in her orphanage. She joins because as a sorceress, she wants to stop the evil sorceress Andromeda plan.
-Montblanc can be found in clan centurio after you get the first heart and summon. You have to play hide and seek with him.

Hey all,

First of the Ragnarok is the best (coolest looking) airship so I have to say that would be the transport but the airship music would be Terra's theme from ff6.

1. Auron- intelligent & tough, provide guidence and physical presence of a hitter
2. Lightening- serious get shit done member, quick striking with some magic power
3. Quistis- patient & understanding confider, white mage plus a whip.
4. Edgar- who doesn't love tools?
5. Rikku- need a thief and an upbeat character
6. Lulu- smart ass, black mage
7. Setzer- gambling owner of said airship.

optional's
8. Squall- lionheart anyone?
9. Fang- always good to have another hitter

If we are allowed to have non-true hero characters than I think Sepheroth would have to replace some and maybe Trema (dude is powerful)?

1. Tifa (FF7) - Because she's simply the best thing to come out of Square.
2. Vincent (FF7)- Ranged character who is also mysterious and sexy.
3. Arc (FF3)- Because he's adorable. That's really the only reason.
4. Auron (FF10)- The only character who makes sense.
5. Cecil (FF4)- He had a pretty strong character arc.
6. Faris (FF5)- More girls ;3 That and she's a trap. I love those.
7. Cloud (FF7)- Someone has to protect Tifa. Clouds the man for the job. That and his moves are awesome.

Optional
8. Luneth (FF3)- Possibly to balance out Arc, or be a quest related to him.
9. Celes (FF6)- Who doesn't love Celes...?

Mandatory Member's

1. Cloud (FF7)-He can cut through anything with the buster sword and his Omnislash is the best finishing move
2. Squall (FF8)-I love the Gunblade and the fact that it is one of the hardest weapon's to master
3. Vivi (FF9)-Vivi is a really strong black mage so he can destroy everything with flare
4. Aerith (FF7)-Aerith can heal everyone
5. Tifa (FF7)
6. Zell (FF8)
Zell and Tifa there both great at fighting so they can beat enemies to death and I always wanted to compare who at lvl 99 had the best stats and who would win in a fight
7. Garnet (FF9)-Garnet can summon Odin to cut monster's in two

Optional Member's
Barret (FF7)-Barret can take monster's down from a distance
Auron (FF10)-Auron is really strong and he has a good sense of judgement so he can keep the party on the right track

Rather than pick every single loner/badass character I could think of, I tried to actually balance the party a little. I think I still failed, though.

Mandatory Members

1. Zack (FFVII) - He's cooler than Cloud. Waaaay cooler.
2. Lightning (FFXIII) - I wanted a male-female balance, and she seems like an okay character, although I haven't played XIII.
3. Rydia (FFIV) - I needed a mage/summoner, and a spunky character will help balance out my team.
4. Auron (FFX) - Just because he's badass.
5. Barrett (FFVII) - He's hilarious, but he doesn't mean to be.
6. Sabin (FFVI) - He's funny and powerful, and I love his blitzes. It was a close call between him and his bro Edgar, though.
7. Beatrix (FFIX) - Paladin.

Optional Characters

1. Squall (VIII) - He's even more of a loner than the rest of them, so you'd have to pester him to join lol.
2. Quina (FFIX) - For the lol factor, and a blue mage might not be so bad.

My team would most likely be part of what I would chose for Dissidia 012

Mantatory Members

1. Lightning
2.Squall
3.Cloud
4.Gabranth
5.Bartz
6.Firion
7.Yuna

Optional Members
1.Aqua (KH:BBS) Yes I know that KH is not truly Final Fantasy but it is still in somewhat of the same universe
2.Vanille

1)zidane-he totally rocks
2)freya- dragoon, enough said
3)kain-same reason
4)cecil-in his paladin form
5)cloud- we need a giant sword somewhere in the party
6)sazh- a little comedy relief
7)ridia-a summoner never hurts

Mandatory:
1)Sabin--A powerhouse of physical strength, stamina, and epic blitzes :8F: He's arguably one of the strongest characters in any FF.

2)Setzer--An extremely well-balanced character. He has great speed, pretty good attack power and stamina, and his Cards and Slot attributes are excellent, particularly the brand of cards that randomly dispatches an enemy with that big purple X :8F: He's a very good mage too if you train him up correctly. His airships are far superior to any others in the series; even Daryl's Falcon, which he technically owns also, pwns a lot of the other ones. And, he's my favorite character in the series, so even if he wasn't that great I'd have to indulge myself a bit :D (I might also note that having any character from VI automatically exempts me from dragging around the stereotypically physically-weak white mages, since any VI character can learn both white and black magic :D I tend to not care for the personalities of most white mages anyway, IMHO they tend to be somewhat uninteresting chicks who double as love interests and they're really not my favorite type of character :hmmm:)

3) Rydia--Her summons are epic, and her use of powerful black magic on top of that is a must. Garnet has good summons as well, but she's not physically powerful enough for my tastes, and as stated above, the white mage is usually my least favorite character.

4) Steiner--His Sword Art attacks are invaluable, and when paired with Vivi, whom I'll include next, the two make an amazing team of power. Plus Steiner's physical strength is imperative for level grinding.

5) Vivi--As stated above, pairing him and Steiner is one of the best things you can do in an FF battle :D Plus, his black magic would complement Rydia's; it never hurts to have at least two black mages, because I always find when I have only one that they run out of MP far too fast :sad3: And especially Vivi and Rydia, actually, recalling from my playthroughs, because I always use them so much :hmmm:

6) Celes--Celes is absolutely imperative if you are going up against monsters or fiends who use heavy elemental magic. Her Runic ability is a rarity, and what better way to avoid a magic attack that's liable to deal 200-300 damage points to your party per turn than to have someone absorb it away from the other members and convert it to MP :wacky: Absolutely brilliant.

7) Barret or Zidane--This is a tough choice, because it's for essentially the same reason: they both have amazing non-elemental limit breaks that can cause massive amounts of damage to pretty much anything. If I went by personality, I would have to go with Barret, because he's one of my favorite FF characters; however, based on practicality I might consider Zidane's stealing ability, because sometimes that is quite helpful, though not always :hmmm: I dunno, it's a hard decision.

Auxillary characters:
8) Edge--While I do really like Shadow for his throwing abilities and the use of Interceptor in battle :lew:, I would have to go with Edge for a ninja (he's definitely top 7 worthy, I just ran out of room :gonk:) In addition to using throwing weapons and wielding dual blades which deal a considerable amount of damage, Edge has a lot of cool Ninja attacks, such as Flame, Flood, Blitz, and Image, which are quite useful. He's also one of my favorite characters personalitywise; even though he's a bit cocky, there's still something charming about him XD (he's not bad to look at either XD) Also, he's a love interest to Rydia, and though I don't usually go crazy shipping characters, I really want to see them hook up at some point for good :rage:

9) Kain or Freya--Dragoons are epic, and I would be fine having one of them as one of my main seven as well for their unique abilities. I also like their personalities very equally, they're both really cool and have interesting stories :hmmm: So this would be another tough decision. One benefit to having Freya would be her Dragon abilities, especially the one (Dragon Crest?) that can be leveled up to deal 9999 damage; however, the inclusion of Kain would increase the likelihood that maybe some day, ONE of these days, I would get to see his face :rage: Because I have always wondered what he looks like and it's irritating, all we get is a chin and a swoosh of blond hair :mokken: And also, I think his attack power is a bit better than Freya's, seeing as how it's at least equivalent to Cecil's if not more so :hmmm: And also, he's left-handed, which I've always thought was an interesting detail XD

Honorable mention:
Auron--While it would be a shame to not have him in the party at all times, and he'd also be worthy of the top seven, I would be satisfied with having him as a temporary or non-mandatory character. His power is so great that in some cases it would honestly make the game too easy; and after what happened on my first playthrough of X, for that reason I don't think I'd really want him around for the boss battle :P But for some of the game would be nice.

Mandatory

1. Zack (VII) - Because he's the SOLDIER that Cloud wished he was
2. Tifa (VII) - She's hot, she's got bad ass martial arts and her own bar
3. Auron (X) - Simply because his as tough as nails
4. Quistis (VIII) - She can handle herself pretty well
5. Lulu (X) - She's got talent
6. Cid (VII) - Some one's gotta fly the airship
7. Rikku (X) - Her MIX skills will come in handy

Optional

1. Reno (VII) - Bad ass
2. Locke (VI) - It's always handy to have a thief...i mean treasure hunter

OH YEAH!! THIS IS AN AWESOME IDEA.

PARTY
(1) Shadow - FF6: Rogue and Recon
(2) Bartz - FF5: Main Hero Archetype
(3) Auron - FF10: Stoic Wise Mentor (Bad Cop)
(4) Sasz - FF13: Comedic Relief Mentor (Good Cop)
(5) Fang - FF13: Your Wolverine, get's hands dirty for the team.
(6) Terra - FF6: Main Heroine Archetype
(7) Freya - FF9: Mystical Advisor/Specialist

First off I went with a purely personality group. Yes alot of them are stoic but I think it'd work out. Alot of these characters can be paired into twos

Optionals
Famine - Red XIII
Pestilence - Vincent Valentine
Death - Cloud
War - Lightning

Thought it might be fun to break out of the mold.
The Optionals would be the 4 horsemen and you would only get to fight one, whoever you fought would be the one you saved. The other three would be later bosses you would be forced to destroy. Whoever you saved would change the ending.

I will try and make mine balanced without being too biased towards my beloved FFIX :|

Mandatory:
1. Freya (Dragoon with great support skills)
2. Zidane (Good physical attacker aswell as a Thief)
3. Celes (Runic, Runic, Runic!!)
4. Eiko (Best White Mage ever aswell as being able to summon Madeen)
5. Vivi (Solid and straight-forward no-nonsense Black Mage)
6. Nanaki (Very versatile as well as being just plain cool)
7. Irvine (Every team needs a gun-slinging southern gentlemen :))

Optional Members:
1. Quina (Most unique and original character ever in anything. Period. That and the fact s/he is a great Blue Mage makes Quina the ultimate optional character!)
2. Edgar (His tools are so fun and useful!)

Been putting it off, but I can't anymore. I'll change this list later once I play more FF games. For now my choices are based on those I've played (FF4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and a bit of 8). I too will try to balance the team, so some of my favourite might not make it.

Mandatory team (in order they'll join the party)
1) Red XIII (FF7) - he'll be my character's pet and best friend, so will be there from the start
2) Auron (FF10) - he'll be the main character's mentor and spiritual advisor
3) Aeris (FF7) - she'll be main character's love interest and also someone who inspires the team when they fail, and also the party's white mage
4) Vivi (FF9) - he'll be outcasted from somewhere due to his magic powers and will end up joining the team, becoming party's black mage
5) Cecil (FF4) - In a dark knight form preferably, it'd be nice to have someone as badass as him in the team
6) Celes (FF6) - We need another female and one who is not magically-oriented
7) Sabin (FF6) - Another tank? yes please. He'll be the martial artist of the party

Optional characters

8) Rikku (FF10) - Another female, plus we need someone who has a high agility stat and can steal
9) Amarant (FF9) - He could be our ninja-type character and besides we do need one of those cynical independent characters in the team

Some honourable mentions who I would've loved to have too: Cloud, Kain, Rosa, Vincent, Terra, Cyan, Shadow, Steiner, Beatrix, Gilgamesh

Also, with the love interests, it'd be nice to have this certain ambiguity and choices so the main character could end up with any one of the 3 females. That would spawn all sorts of debates, similar to today's Cloud&Aeris and Cloud&Tifa debates.

And I would prefer the battle system to be similar to FFX, so that the characters can swap in and out of battle at will. That way they all can be used in battle.

Do we get to choose a villain too? I'd love Golbez, ExDeath, Kuja and Kefka to team up.

Ooh nice! I really like your choices and how you positioned them. The way you run into some of them sounds very cool too. Aerith would be a love interest for me too <3

And Yuna <3

And Tifa <3

And Lightning <3

Oh no I could never choose :sad3:

^Lol thanks. There are too many great characters in FF games, and I've only played about half of them. Also forgot to mention FF7's Cid in the honourable mentions. He could be an NPC as our airship pilot. Perhaps some other honourable mentions could be NPCs. Better to have them as NPCs than not at all.
