A new bride has revealed how she spent more than £20,000 on 18 wedding dresses in the nine months leading up to her big day.

Helene Manca admitted that she had struggled to choose the perfect dress for her wedding to Joe Glass.

"Every time I tried a dress on I just had to have it," she told the Daily Mail. "But as soon as I took it home and compared it to the other dresses I had already bought, I couldn't bear to choose.

"By the end I knew that 18 was too many and I wouldn't have time to wear them all, so I thought about the different stages of the wedding and decided nine was perfect."

She wore the nine dresses - the most expensive of which cost £5,500 - at various stages throughout the day.

Manca confirmed that of the nine she did not wear, she returned one which had not been altered, sold five on eBay and gave three to charity.

Her husband added: "Lots of people might think Helene is a little crazy for wearing so many dresses, but I love how she is so unique in life. She looked amazing in each and every dress."

However, the 25-year-old admitted that she plans to splash out again next year.

"We've decided to renew our vows next summer and I plan to wear ten dresses then," she said. "I'm addicted."

I found this before and I just couldn't stop shaking my head. Eighteen wedding dresses with 20k? Really? I can't believe the lengths women can go for their weddings nowadays, but this really takes the biscuit.

Spend that much money you better provide pictures. :mokken:

Why so many dresses anyway? You can only have that one perfect dress. If you love more or love all of them the same they're obviously not that special or outstanding. :mokken:

Wow, wouldn't that be about $40,000 USD? 8( My whole wedding, including the dress, was less than $10,000 :lew: And my dress was custom-made and looked amazing and it was only $350  I have to laugh at people for spending all that money when it's not even necessary :ffs: And cry, because I wish I had that much money to spend on things other than food and water :sad3:

It seems a bit daft considering that she's only going to wear one come the actual wedding but at the end of the day, if she's willing to spend that much money on so many wedding dresses then clearly she has the money to do so and she's free to do what she wants with it.

WTF? Isn't one enough?

How much of the night would she have wasted changing every time?

So much money wasted!

Her husband may be laughing now but he will get sick of her spoilt and ridiculous spending habits soon enough.

People like this are so freakin air-headed.

To me, spending that much on a bunch of dresses is a waste. All that for 18 dresses you are honestly going to wear once. Its almost a big enough waste buying one, depending on how much you spend on it because again, you only wear it once.

First, you'd have to have a stopwatch going so you could change into all the dresses every 1/2 hour so you can get around to wearing each one. ...and you'd likely spend all of your wedding changing and playing Barbie rather than enjoying the memories with your friends/fam and your spouse.

I would've rather had a lengthy honeymoon somewhere (Hawaii :britt:) than 18 silly dresses. Whatever....I guess it just shows the ridiculous ways people spend their money nowadays :ffs:

It's stuff like this that makes me ashamed to live in society. Whilst I don't expect rich people to splash out all their cash on worthwhile causes, it disgusts me that these rich airheads even exist. The media attention doesn't help, either - it comes across as a pretty insensitive thing to report when an increasingly large portion of society is enduring financial issues.

Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting, I just can't stand people like that. The blunt truth is that they need a reality check.
