My friend is trying to get me interested into the Bond films, and the music that goes along with it. But, what interests me is the music that could have been the theme song, but wasn't. My two favourites are -

Blondie - For Your Eyes Only

I think it's far better than the one actually used.

And, I think the Alicia Keys / Jack White song - Another Way To Die - is horrible. Someone pointed out to me that Duffy was going to use this song for the Bond Theme but they rejected it. In my opinion, it's much better.

Duffy - Rain On Your Parade

Although, some cover versions of Bond themes really suck. Nancy Sinatra's "You Only Live Twice" is one of my favourite Bond songs, but Bjorks version is...horrible.

Bjork - You Only Live Twice

Absolutely horrible. Especially when you compare it to the original -

Nancy Sinatra - You Only Live Twice

So, what are your favourite / least favourite Bond themes? Which themes got wrongly rejected?

I really don't know what to make of Another Way To Die.

However, I do love Die Another Day and You Know My Name. Call me modern, but that's just me, I guess.

Best Of Bond is one of my favourite albums at the moment.
For me, You Know My Name by Chris Cornell is the best. I'm a fan of his work in general, although You Know My Name is the only good thing he did with his solo career. And of course everyone knows and loves Live And Let Die by Paul McCartney. It really suits the feeling of the film, I thought.
Duran Duran's A View To A Kill gets stuck in my head a lot. And then of course there's We Have All The Time In The World by Louis Armstrong. I love the way it relates to the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

As for Another Way To Die, it's really growing on me. At first I hated it, particularly the vocal work, but I've listened to it a few more times and now I really like it. I'm so glad Duffy didn't do it.

I loved the Paul McCartney/Wings song that was used in Live & Let Die...which is also the song's name. Is it the best James Bond theme? Nah, not in my opinion. But I really like the song for what it is.

A theme I didn't care for much: "Die Another Day" by Madonna. I wasn't a huge fan of that Bond movie period. Didn't like it much. Not compared to the others, anyway.

Nobody Does it Better by Carly Simon for The Spy Who Loved Me is one of my favourites I think, that song is so sweet and just.. fantastic.

Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey is also a great song.

Live and Let Die by Paul McCartney, it's one of my favourite songs ever let alone favourite Bond themes. Although so are the other two to be fair.

And The World is Not Enough by Garbage, but I'm a big fan of them in general.

Oh yes, I love Goldfinger. Shirley Bassey has an incredible voice, and that song is simply amazing.

I also quite like The Man With The Golden Gun, by Lulu...but my friend says it's one of the worst Bond themes ever D=

The Man With The Golden Gun is a bit cheesy, but not awfully so. The chorus is really catchy.
I'd say the poorest of them all is Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow. It just doesn't stick out much to me. I quite liked Die Another Day, for some reason. I know it's not particularly special or anything, but I like it for some reason.

Duran Duran's A View To A Kill gets stuck in my head a lot. And then of course there's We Have All The Time In The World by Louis Armstrong. I love the way it relates to the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Same here lol.

My personal fav is GoldenEye by Tina Turner. Fav Bond film, fav Bond theme. Just gives me goosebumps, great sound. Also I like Garbage's The World is Not Enough. Love them, films dreadful though lol. Live & Let Die is great also, but I cant listen to it alot.

I like most of them, particularly Shirley Bassey's three, which stand out the most to me.
But I think that Rita Coolidge's one and Madonna's were quite bad, infact really most of Die Another Day was bad.
