Did anyone here hate the subterra located beneath Pharos. I was doing the Seer hunt the other day and i had to defeat enemies and collect the black orbs to advance further down. Overall it took me around 3 hours collecting these stupid things and getting killed so many times by the enemies down there.

I eventually made it to the seer expecting some extremely powerful boss and instead i killed him in around 5 minutes. I found the whole place to be a huge waste of time.

What are your thoughts?

I must have got the black orbs first time there, because when I headed back, the next destination was Subterra, I was fannying around in there for a while though.... when I dont like a place, I always end up there longer than I need to be for some odd reason

I HATE subterra though. I defeated the Ixion mark....Id like to say no problem, but the little swineth kept me on my toes....headed back out to save went back and was totally humiliated by the monsters dow there. Didnt see THAT one coming. And my characters ARE LALMOST LEVEL 80 WITHDECENT WEAPONS how DARE I struggle!!! Basically, I got my arse handed to me, I died and I havent looked at the STUPID game since -__-

/end rant

I use it for training.

Take the elevator down to whatever level, just stand there next to the elevator and all the fiends come to you, then just hack them all down. When running low on hp or mp, just turn around, go back up the elevator, over to the save crystal, then back down again.

It's pretty handy. :)

I had something like 80 black orbs when I left the Pharos in the storyline part, but I thought I didn't need them, so I sold them. -__-

When I was doing the Seer hunt, It didn't take that long, because a special trick is that, you don't collect the Black Orbs until you find the big black orb, you get x3 the black orbs you collected. :P

I didn't realise at first and thought the big black orbs were just randomly placed containing a random amount. Kind of like a little bonus to help you along, so was collecting every orb I found, then when getting the big ones, they only had like, 3 in them. :wacky:

Nyeh, I spent so much time down there that in time the enemies were like flies to me. I did the Seer hunt and I think it was pretty cool how they tried to make the battle last and such, not to mention the Seer it self looked really cool. [I think xD]
At first I was so scared because the swrans of enemies came one after the other with little time to recover and such and the orbs did get annoying at first but that was always before I knew what to do and such. I also though the names for the levels were pretty cool.
Sometimes I still go down there and think about the many hours I spnt down here training and such....ahh..good times...

heh i didn't even realise that till after the seer hunt. I did the hard way.

UGH Freaking Penumbra/Umbra/Subterra can suck me. Seriously.

I was level 60 when I went after Ixion in the .. Penumbra I think. Did him pretty easy cos I had the rubber suits or whatever they're called. Almost died trying to get back to the elevator when i was ambushed by the giant bull toad things. -__-

And recently I've been able to get through Penumbra and Umbra just fine, but the zombies in the Subterra annihilate my team... I mean whatthefookinthenameofmuffins is that all about? :|

Sub-Pharos and The Great Crystal have got to be my favorite places to level up in the game.

overall, Sub-Pharos isn't too bad in my opinion. It's a great challenge @ the end of the game when almost every other area in the world is sooo easy to fight in. Sure it ticked me off just trying to get those Black Orbs and it was dark as fuck and I couldn't see shit, but the enemies you had to get them from were tough as hell and it really helped my characters level up like crazy down there.

Also, the Seer Hunt was crazy epic.

Cheers for that, saved me alot of time fannying about. The guide lies. I got down there quicker than I would of collecting thme one at a time like I started. It's a shit place, especially when you are running around in the dark, unable to see wheret he hell you are goling. And then you unwittingly run into a magic pot and get fucked over by some harsh magic:gasp:

Just don't attack them, they'll leave you alone then.

They'll ask for an elixir on the battle log, so if you give it one, it'll just bounce around the place leaving you free to kick his butt as they don't fight back, and you can steal your elixir back too. :P

yeah I did that - it's just if there are other enemies and i don't notice the little bastard, I tend to attack before I realsie what Ive attacked then I have to leg it :gasp:

I loved the hunt. Having that thing summon 4 beasts to kick my ass added some spice. Phoenix was a real challenge, because I had to use ranged weapons. But I just pulled out my best bows/guns/crossbows and watched them demolish that birdie. Slyt was very easy... just put him to sleep, cast a Reflectga on the party, and unload all the Thundaga I can. However, the enemies in the Pen/Umbra/Subterra were evil! 3 level 99's got killed in minutes. I'll never look for a fooking Vagrant Soul/Luxulloid.

One got me good. I'd been down there for like, 2 hours levelling up, accidently ran into Phoenix and beat him. Carried on exploring, saw a magic pot, unwittedly hit him, then stupidly tried to fight it.

Ended up getting owned and got a game over screen.

Without saving.:gasp:

That's exactly what happened to me after my first magic pot run in, sooo I had to go back, do Phoenix again, and show tht pot who was boss. Not fond of using elixrs on them though, I never was able to steal them back either >_>

Oh well, at least it's in the bestiary <_<
