Balamb Garden

'I better start getting my class put together.'
Cole followed everyone out of Cid's office and was headed for his dorm. The only problem now was that he was no longer tired. He was as restless as ever. Now that he was an instructor he needed to have lesson plans to make sure everything runs smoothly. I hadn't really hit him of his new status until the review with the others.
'I wonder how many students I will get.'
He got back to his dorm and another letter was there waiting for him on the door.
'Wow. Does he pull me aside just so people can post notes on my door?'
He grabbed the letter and opened it. It had no official intro or any signature. it was simply a message.

Your class will begin at noon tomorrow and end at 2:00. Your classroom number is 234. The student tables are set to move to create space for anything you might do. There is a hologram projector that points to the center of the classroom if you need. Your subjects are one on one combat strategy, and teamwork strategy. Your full schedule has been posted at your classroom. good luck Instructor Redding.

Cole folded the letter up and put it in his pocket. He didn't even go back into his room that night. He head toward the classroom he had been assigned, curious on how he could use it.

As he left the office, Cid gave an announcement to all the SeeD members before him.

Cid "Don't forget, all SeeD members, Instructors, faculty and guests of the previously mentioned; are invited to tomorrow tonight's customary SeeD Celebration Ball. It takes place at 8pm, don't be late!"

'Well, at least I'm a SeeD now. he said to arrive at the celebration ball tomorrow by 8 P.M. I guess this is a mandatory event to enter. I bet i'll have a good time."

when he left the office, Arthvader headed back to the training grounds to resume his training. Hours later, he went to the showers to refresh after his training at the grounds.

'I needed that after the waiting and the training.'

After he was done with his shower, he headed towards his dorm room, prepared his uniform for the ball, and went to bed.

Jimmy felt pretty bad after hearing SeeD report, to him it almost seemed like he had flunk the exam. But when SeeD announced the ball Jimmy felt a charge of electricity reaching his brain and immediately began scouting Xu, he wanted to invite her to come to the ball with him but he got anxious and did not know what to do, he looked at Enigma seeing if his friend could help him out, but then he realized that he could not let Enigma realize that he was actually nervous to ask Xu to come to the ball with him, he had to keep his cool attitude and started thinking to himself.

"(Ohhhh man...what do i do, i want to ask her to come with me, but she is almost 20 i'm much younger, she will turn me down and everyone will laugh at me for the rest of my school year, on the other hand what if she accepts? I bet everyone would be jealous and i could show her my dancing moves...what to do? What to do?)"

And after a few minutes figuring out what he should say Jimmy finally opened his mouth to speak, unfortunately the words did not come out as he had expected...

"XU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh....DANCE WITH ME?"

Xu looked at Jimmy with a weird look as did everyone else still in the room, Zell had to hide his laugh.

Xu:"What? Jimmy you want to dance with me?"

"Ahhh no...i mean yes but not right now...i ment at the BALL you know...to dance and stuff like that."

Xu:"Are you asking me to come with you, is that it?"

"YES!"

Xu looked at Jimmy with merciful eyes, she paused for a moment thinking what to say and the right way to say things and then finally answered...

Xu:"Oh sorry Jimmy but...unfortunately Instructors have to enter the ball before the students and the standard SeeD members, so i' m afraid i can't go with you, but i will see you inside of course."

For the first time ever Jimmy did not know what to say, it was as if he had been slapped right across the face, but he tried to show the little dignity that he still had left.

"Ok i understand instructor Xu...sorry for asking, i will meet you there then...ahh goodbye everyone i'll go sleep a bit now i have to safe my energy for the big dance tomorrow, you staying Enigma?"

Jimmy sprinted ito the elevator waiting to see if Enigma would join him or stay there...

When Damon awoke a sudden thought surged through his head, he had no dancing partner, since he was not one to socialise much it did not bother him too much, he could picture some of the others arriving with their partner but he would stick to the walls and just get it over and done with.

Damon grabbed his SeeD uniform that was left in his closet and walked outside of the dorms, he checked his watch

Damon: 13:00 eh? that leaves me 7 hours before I need to go and be bored.

Damon paid another visit to the library and grabbed some books, knowing his luck a bit of knowledge would go a long way in future missions, he picked out some books from a range of genres: basic skills of summoning, advanced swordplay, marine tactics, land tactics, air tactics, heavy machine training, firearms for beginners, advanced dancing and how to hide in a social gathering, why the last two books were there he would never know, still, it would be worth a read.

Al awoke 2 minutes later.
realizing that he was infact not tired.
He decided to wander some to pass the time.
He put on a shirt, and shoes. thus completing the SeeD uniform.

he went over to a mirror, and brushed his hair, then fastened it in a ponytail.

"why cant I just have it loose as I always does" Al says to himself
Howl replied in various squeeks.

"true, they have way to strict rules for some petty things" as he completed this stuff. he where to open the door.
There was a knock.

"umm. o...k.." he mumbled to himself.

he opened the door

"HELOO!"
"WHOA!" Al jumped back.

It was Lucy. not only did she knock, she more or less jumped in, while screaming.
Would have scared most.

"umm.. hello" Al where able to say after he saw who it was.
"what is it?" he asked.

"well.... you know.. the ball.." she blushed alittle
"yes.. what about it?"
"I don't really know anyone other here that well... do you want to go with me" she managed to say, as she blushed more.

"umm.. I guess....." Al started.
"fineseeyouthere" she said as she ran away. obviously rather shy

"umm... riiiight.. " Al said to himself, rather confused. yet somewhat happy.
"well. I'm not going alone then" he said, as he exited the door. And starting to wander about. killing time

Evan returned to his room and looked in his wardrobe to find his old Seed uniform he took it out and sat down, he smiled as a tear rolled down his cheek,
Evan: "how am i gunna be able to tell my mum this"
he stood up and then there was a knock at his dorm Door, he looked at the door and there was another knock. he walked over and opened the door to reveal the leader of his fan girls
FGL: "hey evan"
Evan: "hey"
FGL: "my name is Sarah"
Evan: "okay then...hey sarah"
FGL: "i was wundering that if you werent to busy tomoro night and you didn't already have someone you were going with that you might consider..."
Evan: "i might not be going to the ball tomoro"
FGL: "oh...okay then"
Evan: "but if i am then i would love to go with you"
Sarah handed evan his instructor's jacket
Evan: "i dont need it i am a regular Seed membre again"
Sarah: "really"
Evan: "yea. how about you keep it until i get my instructor status back. and then i'll swap this one for that one"
Sarah: "okay then."
sarah ran down the corridor, probly on the way back to her door, as she became distant she shouted back
Sarah: "see ya tomoro night, come to my dorm at about half seven"

Damon was busy reading through the books and finished reading the Advanced swordplay but could not understand the basic skills of summoning book, it would be best to wait til he saw an instructor about that.

Damon: and now on to- *watch alarm sounds* shit! I am gonna be late!

Damon saw the librarian with her hands on her hips, clearly a violation so without further ado he placed the books back in their respective shelves and dashed to the ballroom.

Lack of experience?

If it wasn't Headmaster Cid, Beccalyn would have vehemently refuted the claim. The judgement, however, was only fair. With every mission there are different jobs assigned, each as vital as the other. But in this case, a point system had evaluated them and it was just unfortunate that she and Luana had less recognition for their efforts. Perhaps taking out the real target after cleaning the mess outside might have earned them a higher SeeD rank. In the mean time, she could only smile. She had earned her SeeD status after all. She was capable of much more.

The two left the office and headed back to their dorms, where Beccalyn lamented humorously on their grades.

"SeeD rank of five," the leggy brunette made an exaggerated frown. "I didn't show enough skin, that's why. I was supposed to strip bare and lure the target out for everyone. Seriously, I don't know why I put up with this nonsense. We're better than that, aren't we? Ugh, never mind. I need some shut eye."

When Cole got to his classroom he turned on the light to look around. It was much larger than any of the classrooms that he had learned in in his student years. Either they updated all the classrooms like this, or they expect him to go a bit crazy with the students. Probably the later.
He took a few steps into the room and then her heard a familiar voice.
"So, how do you like it?"
"Quistis? I thought I recognized the handwriting."
Another blow to his ego. Not only had Cid and Xu beat him with this, but Quistis was there to rub it in.
"You read my letter," she said "So, you know the features of this room."
"Yes. I think they are appropriate for the subject I will be teaching."
Cole walked over to his new desk monitor. He could see all the options he had for controling the classroom. Quistis watched him expecting him to say something else to her. He just continued to look at the monitor in silence. He knew what she wanted, but could not bring himself to say anything to her.
Finally she spoke. "I saw your scores on the mission."
"I am a strategist," Cole snapped back. "I don't expect people to understand why I do things the way I do."
Quistis once again stood quiet. She turned around and headed toward the door. Before she stepped out she spoke over her shoulder.
"I will be introducing you to the students before you begin class. I expect you to be good to them."
With that she walked out.
Cole waited there frozen in place for what seemed like an hour. When what he had just done registered in his head he slammed his fist on his desk leaving a small dent on the metal surface.
'Why do I always have to screw things up? I could have fixed things with her.'
He sat down and put his head on his desk in dispair.

Enigma tried to suppress the laughter; poor Jimmy. He really did have a big infatuation with Xu and it wasn't showing any signs of subsiding.
"I'm gonna head back to the dorm too bud, may as well come with you."
Enigma began to walk off, "or would you rather Xu joins you instead?" There was a silence. He wasn't facing Jimmy but knew his face would be a picture. There was nothing better than tormenting his self-proclaimed protege.

Whilst holding the elevator for Jimmy, Enigma got to thinking about the ball once more. Why was it bothering him so much that he didn't have a date? Even Jimmy had the balls to ask Xu!
"Who the hell could I ask though? I mean, who would go with me?"
He stroked his chin in a pondering manor, but his mind drew a blank. Nothing. No one. "Crap."
The ball was looked upon as an important event by Balamb Garden. An event of prestige and pride. Not one of loneliness and depression.
There were still other things on the mind of the 19 year old; sleep. Preferably lots of it.

A strong hand of Enigma's rested on the grip of his Sai, for no apparent reason. Reflex perhaps; he was a fighter at heart and was always prepared. The heat provided by the elevator was sweltering, his black attire not helping. The black jeans in particular made his legs feel as if they were in some kind of pressure cooker.
"Come on, Jimmy! I'm gonna melt in here!"
The day was drawing to an end, and Enigma finally had an opportunity to rest his head. An opportunity he was not going to pass up. Something had clearly caught Jimmy's attention and Enigma was not prepared to wait any longer.
His finger slipped off of the door hold button and allowed the elevator to descend.

The first floor of the Garden was silent, almost creepy. The only sound being the echoing of Enigma's footsteps. He was taking his time about getting to the dormitory. Why hurry? All adrenaline was gone anyway so it was pointless trying to be anything but slow.
He paused near the walkway of the dorms. "I swear I can still hear footsteps..." After a quick scan, it was clear no one else was around; apart from Enigma. He put it down to tiredness, the mind tended to play tricks when exhausted.
Before he had the chance to make another step, he heard a very audible laugh. "OK, who the hell is there?" There was no answer, "Hilarious! Absolutely hilarious! You can hide and play tricks on people; well done you." Enigma had no idea who he was talking to. He was under the assumption that there was actually someone there to talk to and he wasn't just going crazy.
Not one for believing in ghosts, Enigma dismissed the idea as quickly as it entered his mind.
"Don't be an idiot. Just get some sleep."
He proceeded to his and Jimmy's dorm and jumped straight into bed. That freakish, manly chuckle ringed in Enigma's ears; sending shivers down his spine. Maybe sleep wasn't going to be easy.

Luana gave a sigh as Beccalyn went on and on. Though she had to admit; there was something she agreed about... At least everyone else made it back alive, thanks to their efforts. What more did they want?

"At least we're SeeDs, hun. That's what matters in the end," Luana said, trying to calm her roommate. "In the meantime...let's just worry about tomorrow night, eh? Which dress were you planning on wearing?"

Luana walked ahead of Becca for a bit, opening the dorm door and holding it for her.

"I was thinking of wearing that blue one with the silver beads, but I don't remember if that was yours or not."

OOC: WTF I got confused, it seemed like the ball was "tomorrow" I thought it was "today".
my bad ^^
----------------------
After wandering around some, Al felt like there was something missing.
The comfort only a bed can give...
In short, he was tired.

he wandered towards his dorm, while hearing some weird laughter, passing it for a prank, he ignored it.

He entered and realized.

"why did I awake. I slept for 2 minutes, and now im tired again.. *sigh*"

he undressed, turned off the light. and went to bed.
thinking of various stuff. and slumbered away

Cole made a sudden jerk as he gotten back up. Hours had passed since Quistis left, but he couldn't tell how much. The computer at his desk, and all the lights in the room had shut down for the night. Or was it early morning now?
'I can't believe I fell asleep in here.' he thought to himself. 'I should get going I guess.'
Cole got up and headed out of the classroom. By the time he reached the elevator he had become fully awake.
It was still dark outside, so it deffinately was not day yet. His stomach began to grumble so he decided to go to the cafeteria fo a late night meal. He remembered that he had not eaten since before the mission. He was famished.
When he got there, a different cafeteria lady than the usual was there cleaning tables.
"Hello," she said. "What are you doing up at such late hours."
"I'm too hungry to sleep. Is there anything that I could get to eat?"
The lady stopped with the tables and headed back behind the counter.
"You are lucky. We still have a few hotdogs left from dinner."
She pulled a platter out from under the counter. There were three hotdogs sitting there. Cole reached in and grabbed two of them.
"Thank you very much."
He walked over to a table and sat down. The cafeteria lady put away the platter, and walked back over to clean the tables.
As he was eating Cole began to think of how to appologize to Xu and Quistis for being such an ass. He didn't like any of the ways that came to him, but he knew that he had to do it.

Jimmy left the Headmaster Office and went down the elevator alone, boy was his ego low...first he slipped and fall in front of everyone, then he got an unfair classification and now Xu had decline his invitation for the ball.
In order to get his mind back together he went for the quad area to look at the Ocean that stood before him, the sun was coming down and reflected on the sea emiting a orange glow.

"Man...why did i even ask her!? I made a darn fool out of me, grrrr....what am i saying!? I can still invite her to dance i suppose, one last try!!!! YEAH BABY I'LL DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Perhaps it was the mixed aroma of the duo's collection of perfumes. It could have been the rush of cool air as Luana opened the door to their air-conditioned dorm. Whatever it was, it only made Beccalyn's fatigue all the more tempting. Joints had begun to ache, and treated wounds throbbed as a reminder of the activity from earlier today.

Nothing was more mundane than the desire for sleep after the slaughter. It didn't bother her as much anymore. The thought of killing people who might have fathered children or left a lover was of no concern to her. After all, just like her. . . .They signed up for this.

Beccalyn moaned loudly as she collapsed onto her bed.

"I was thinking of wearing that blue one with the silver beads, but I don't remember if that was yours or not."

Without looking back at her room mate Beccalyn lazily raised a hand waved. "I don't really care. If it fits you, then you can have it for the ball. I don't think I'm going anyway. I feel like I could sleep for two days. Neglecting to use my Knights has left me drained. . .and you know what that means. Heh, I'm just too tired to even plan out my seducing techniques. Maybe I'll find some lucky underclassman and spend the night with him. If that's what it takes to stay in shape, ya know?"

Evan was searching throught his cupboard for a suit to wear when he remembered he had to wear his Seed uniform,
Evan: "oh well i hope Sarah don't mind a man in a uniform" evan laffed to himself but then couldn't help woundering about his days as an instructor, "why did i get to keep the dorm" he thought.
it didn't matter why he kept his dorm, he climbed onto his bed and went to sleep

"Awww...but then who'll be my date to the ball?" Luana pouted, trying to use a fairly pitiful voice to make her roommate change her mind.

Not that she could hold it for long. A small chuckle broke her expression.

"Thanks for letting me use it anyway," she said as she started looking for some shoes that matched. Sure, this SeeD was exhausted as well, but there would be plenty of time to sleep before being all pretty for the ball.

"Mmm...I wish I didn't run out of my Lilac Lavender perfume..."

As the minutes ticked past, it seemed more and more likely that it was going to be a sleepless night; all because of that freaky laugh in his head. Or at least, he hoped it was in his head.
He sat bolt up-right in bed, frustrated that despite his tiredness, he could not sleep. The dormitory was slightly lit by the beautiful moonlight so Enigma could make out everything from the bathroom to the TV. Jimmy hadn't returned so Enigma found it safe to think that he had kidnapped Xu!

"What the hell is wrong with me! Why can't I sleep?" He tossed the bedsheet off in frustration and re-dressed himself.
"Nuts to this. If I can't sleep, I'm not gonna hang around here."
Grabbing his jacket on the way out, Enigma left the dorm in the direction of the cafeteria.
"I need a coffee...and a date..."

Evan woke up ion the middle of the night and knowing he couldn't sleep after wakeing up he went to the cafeteria for some coffee and a hotdog, but after figuring out (on arrival) that they dont do midnight hotdogs he sat down with his coffee and thought to himself

The time had now passed and Enigma remained in the cafeteria, drinking himself into a caffeine induced coma. Evan was also struggling with sleep by the looks of it, and who could blame him. Out of everyone Enigma knew, Evan had been through most of the motions in recent time.
"You can't sleep either?" He glanced quickly at his watch; it was already 5 a.m. A new day in Balamb Garden and for all the new SeeD's knew, Cid could have a new mission up his sleeve, although that seemed fairly unlikely.

The clattering of pots and pans could be heard from the kitchen, seemingly the chefs had arrived; finally things were looking up for Enigma. He didn't feel particularly happy though. That ghostly experience from the previous night had him rattled, he didn't like the thought that he was being watched by someone he couldn't see. He shuddered slightly just thinking about it,
"Nuts to this, I need to take my mind off of it. I'm gonna go see Becca and Luana. I'm sure they won't mind if I bug them for a bit."

He set off from the cafeteria, back in the direction of the dorms. The time had now reached 6 a.m and the sun was starting to rise. His steps were quicker than usual, he strode along with purpose. Strangely, there were quite a few people around already. Enigma overheard a conversation between a small group of girls,

Girl: "I just couldn't sleep last night, it felt as if someone was watching me..."
Girl 2: "That's so weird! I had the exact same thing..."

The other girls nodded in agreement, all seemed to share the same experience. What the hell was going on here? He began to wonder if Becca and Luana experienced the same thing as everyone else. Surely it was only coincidence...
