While many people say things like "this game is gonna be the best thing ever" and such, I believe it is possible, even at this stage, to point out some bad points of FFXIII.

I'll point out some points which I consider "bad": (which means others may like those things)

1) Characters - They look too realistic and a little dull (Snow, Hope) like the characters of FFXII which many hated.
* I don't really mind that as long as the plot is good, as FFXII is my favorite FF anyway :)

2) Names - WTF? Hope, Snow... I think you get the picture.
*I think Lighting is a fine name though

3) Battle System - While may look great and all, I don't think it that good from what I have seen so far. While not too much was shown in the demo and all, the fact you control one characters isn't that fun.
*If you can switch control or have a gambit system, then I won't really care though. As it'll be the same as FFXII

4) Summoning - May sound baseless, but the summoning system is quite much like FFXII's. So there is a chance it'll be useless in FFXIII as well.

Does anybody can point out HIS/HER bad points about the game so far?

Nothing else needs to be said.

Based on what I've seen, the story doesn't seem to go into a deeper level by having a typical ragtag rebellious group that is trying to stop an evil organization from taking over the world (original I know), which is perfectly fine, however I would rather attempt a Final Fantasy game with a seemingly much more enthralling storyline with numerous unexpected twists and turns. That, I hope, is where Versus 13 comes into play. However nothing is set in stone with FF XIII, so complaints this early in the game's production should only be taken lightly.

I'll probably have bad points by the end of playing it, but other than character designs (which comes solely down to opinion), it's pretty difficult to criticise it based on trailers and images, even demo's which by all accounts aren't anything like what FFXIII is now. Personally I don't think the designs are brilliant, but are far superior to FFVII and FFXII at least. The names aren't all that good, although I do like the sound of Oerba dia Vanille and Hope Estheim.

The battle system, the current battle system is little like the demo and has been altered a fair bit since the demo (which was produced in 2008 some time), as for the summoning, again it's hard to criticise on something you have witnessed fully.

I just find it very difficult to criticise anything within the game, storyline etc without having played it >.>

The overall design is looking very similar to the majority of Square games released since FF X. It's all looking very "Zanarkand" and I really wish they'd have brought in someone from outside the company to do the designs or bring Amano back. You can't even blame it entirely on Nomura. Sure he started the bad trend, but most other Square artists seem to have gone down the same path. My biggest complaint concerning the design is definitely Lightning who looks more or less exactly like Ashe from FF XII, who in return looked uncannily similar to Yuna in FF X-2...

There's not too many bad things in particular as of now, it just has the same "final fantasy-ness" about it. You know, kids with blond spiky hair saving the world, I guess the more mature game is FF Versus though...
One bad thing would be Sazh, I think he's going to be too much of a joke character for me.

Well I'm sure of one thing...The voices will crappy as ever. I actually prefer the Japanese voices with sub, the dub game usually have a really crappy voices.

About the summon system, I find the idea of riding your summon or get it from a CD is pretty original, but riding it a li'l pervert though ;)

I think the battle system in this game is pretty unique and hard to learn. I believe it's goin to be the same battle system as versus coz I couldn't find any video for versus battle system.

There's a few things I'm not too fond of:

The names. Ok, Lightning is a codename, that's fine but ... Snow? Are you kidding? If that is a codename too, then that's also fine ... I liked the name Serah that was said throughout the trailers, but I can't even begin to pronounce 'Oerba' ... Oh-er-ba? Or-ba? Erb-ah? Oh-erb-ah? Just ... whut?

The distinct similarities between XIII and VII in both the world design and character design. Female Cloud, Sephiroth-looking woman (who also had hints of Vayne in my opinion), altered Seifer costume for Snow (although that's VIII). The opening sequence of the rebel group trying to save others via a train entrance into where ever they're going ... sounds very FFVII.

I don't mind the english voices at all ... except the mini-Vaan kid. Do 12 year olds have voices that deep or teenagerish? I didn't ... :P

I hope the transition into battles will be more fluid like FFXII. Waiting for battles to load always did suck, so I hope they don't have to take too long.

Things I like:
I'm liking the look of the summon system. I hope it's a blend of FFX and FFXII.

I'm liking the prospect of adventuring on Pulse, which seems rather tribal and very much away from the sci-fi element.

Anywho, I'm just gonna wait for the game's release before I begin to judge too much. I really want this to be a good game since I'm not really looking forward to Final Fantasy Versus 13.

First, I would like to comment on DarkClaymore's points.

1) Characters - They look too realistic and a little dull (Snow, Hope) like the characters of FFXII which many hated.

As obviously we haven't played the game so we can't judge on personality but comparing to Final Fantasy XII (which I did think their characters were boring) all I can say is that there is slightly more colour into the cast that make them look a bit more unique whereas I think that Final Fantasy XII few really stood out as main characters.

2) Names - WTF? Hope, Snow... I think you get the picture.
*I think Lighting is a fine name though
Snow, for some reason I do not mind. Hope however (considering the character in question is male) I do not. I am a bit 'meh' with Lightning but the fact that it is just a codename I am a bit more understanding. However I know Final Fantasy is bound to have strange names relating to the weather forecast which I guess I don't mind Snow. For some reason I think it suits him. :S

3) Battle System - While may look great and all, I don't think it that good from what I have seen so far. While not too much was shown in the demo and all, the fact you control one characters isn't that fun.
*If you can switch control or have a gambit system, then I won't really care though. As it'll be the same as FFXII
I pretty much agree with you on this one. The one thing that I was nervous about Final Fantasy XIII was how the battle system would be. I definitely knew that it would certainly try and incorporate Final Fantasy XII's system in some kind of way - hoping it would be minimal. Obviously for me, the main bad part is that you only control one character while others seem to be on some kind of gambit system again (yes I know you can switch). The good is that it seems to take the traditional Final Fantasy battle mode were the party line up against the enemies meaning they probably won't run about like headless chickens.

4) Summoning - May sound baseless, but the summoning system is quite much like FFXII's. So there is a chance it'll be useless in FFXIII as well.
I haven't looked much into the summons in this game so I will not be able to give a full opinion. I will say that I am glad to see the original summons back as the Final Fantasy XII summons really pissed me off. The other thing I am not liking is the fact the summons morph into vehicles etc.

Another for me and this I am taking with a pinch of salt to begin with but it could be warning signs is the voice acting. Most of it seemed average and I think today with video games expanding as media entertainment it could be improved. I remember one bit in the trailer were Snow says "...Lightning" in such a corny way which is were my warning signs come from. Sazh sounds like a white guy trying to do a black guys accent. Look at Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. I think that had some of the best voice acting in video games and Heavy Rain is also looking to have some great voice acting. Naughty Dog is a big developer but Quantic Dream isn't and I'm pretty sure with the money Square Enix have they could afford to get some good voice actors.

Then again, the voice acting and the plot could be good but the dialog/script could be dragging it down.

With that all been said, no game is perfect and I am still very hyped up for Final Fantasy XIII.

that's a bad point how...?

Can you at least elaborate on your post please, thankyou

Because it's stupid? Theres "over the top", and then theres "This is fucking retarded". The Shivabike falls into the latter. I think it's stupid that Snow is going to be riding around on some lesbian goddess motorbike transformer that stares at his crotch and ass the whole time. Its not cool, its not awesome, its stupid, and frankly immersion breaking with how ridiculous it is. If the entire games is filled with shit like this, then I don't have high hopes for the title.

Is it really right to judge a game that's not even out yet? There's the trailers, sure, but they don't even provide everything FFXIII has to offer. I know that there's bound to be some bad points, and some good points (every game has that). The question is whether those bad points will outweigh the good ones or vice versa. Who the hell even knows until the actual release pops up in stores. Besides, what may look utterly disastrous in the trailers may actually seem fun when you play it. Games can be surprising that way. All I want for FFXIII is a plotline I can enjoy, characters that actually seem emotional, and a battle system that's easy to handle. If not, then I'll just have to deal with it.

Tbh, I like the look of the motorcycle. The actual design itself is pretty nice and the same goes for when the sisters are independant from each other. However, I understand, completely, where you're coming from and the concept of Snow literally riding the ssters is kind of funny and ridiculous. I wouldn't say I disliked it as much as you. I'm intruiged by it, but I definitely would have changed it the design so Snow wasn't sitting on them so. The heads themselves are looking at the chest and back and I think (specifically the first sister) that it does provide an interesting scenario whereby Shiva could talk with Snow whilst he uses the motorcycle. The whole Transformer thing is a bit weird, but then this is Final Fantasy and anything could happen. I'm going to sit back and just see how it pans out. It may turn out to be quite an important and interesting mechanic in terms of gameplay and story.

My bad point would have to be that the character designs are more or less the same as characters before this one; with the exception being Shahz. The story is interesting but so far it is pretty reminiscent of titles before with the whole rebellion thing. I have confidence it won't be, though.

Why is Final Fantasy XIII getting bad points here? This is sad. I like all the designs of the Final Fantasy XIII characters but a fishing rod for Oerba? Not so much. Alhough I think thats the only bad point. Why do some people not like the designs? The new Shiva is not so revealing. Damn :ness:

The New Shiva also has the potential of Snow Villiers crotch in her face and between her tits. :P So do you prefer more revealing or less revealing with you quite literally 'riding' her?

Because it doesn't look particularly good?

Vanille? Blah. Snow? A hobo. Comic Relief Black Guy? Hmm. Chocobo Afro? Cool. Environment that makes no goddamned sense any way you look at it? Huh. Another 'rebels versus empire' story? Bleh. Shiva bike? Wat. Battle system? Interesting. That 'Hope' kid? Aw, come ON.

At this stage I think I'm hovering around 'cautiously optimistic', but like... very cautiously optimistic.

I was looking forward to Versus more than XIII for a while, but the more I hear about it the more it drifts into 'ehhhhh.....' territory.

Something about what we've seen of XIII's world so far just... it's too hard to suspend disbelief. VII had a bunch of techy sci-fi elements to it but it still kind of felt like a world that worked. VI was steampunkish, but it pretty much worked (the travelling castle was a bit of a stretch, but...). Fuck, even most hated FFVIII had a pretty decent working world, for the most part. XIII is just 'BWAAAGH EVERYTHING IS GLOWING GREEN AND FLYING AND THE FUCKING JETS CAN FLAP THEIR WINGS AND SHIT AND THINGS COME OUT COVERED IN MAGIC ICE CUBES!!!'

The big thing is, XIII is giving me VIII meets X vibes, which is not a good thing at all.

Well, as much as we like to think we know, we don't really know much about XIII; so we'll see how it turns out. I'm looking forward to finding out when it's released.

The only thing I don't like so far (apart from the long development time- which I can sort of understand), is the lack of originality.

1)Lightning. Basically a female version of Cloud and in terms of looks, similar to Yuna and Ashe.

2)Hope. Just like Vaan. But younger. He's 14. Can't he be older? A more mature and adult party against the world would have been better.

3)Vanille. She instantly smells of Rikku and Penelo.

4)Party against the world/government. That's been done in II, VI, XII and probably somewhere else.

I also hate the fact that Odin has a beaver-like face.

All these could exceed my expectations or turn out differently to what I suspect right now (and I hope so), but right now, I just wish for a concrete release date.

Tl;dr. Looks great. 'Nuff said. (Also, I don't care if the characters look realistic, I like it that way. :P)
