Avatar: The Last Airbender Club

I wish they gave Sokka more cool things to do in the series.
To be sure he didn't get as many "flashy" moments in the series the way the Benders in the Gaang did, but keep in mind that when it came to bringing down the Fire Nation airships, working the balloons, and even the Day of Black Sun, Sokka was the primary mover/engineer of all that. Other characters might've been about a hundred times more powerful, but Sokka was easily a hundred times smarter. As I see it, the only characters who had a matching/greater level of tactics knowledge were Piandao, Azula, and Iroh.

To draw an anime bridge; he's kinda like Usopp in that area: Not an inhuman powerhouse, but when he comes through for the team, he really comes through.

I'm so late with this . . . but I was wondering if I could join your lovely little club. I've been a Zuko/Katara fan / Avatar fan since the series came out in late February of '05.

My fav characters?

Pretty much all of them lol although I do have a soft spot for the main Gaang in late Season Three, Book Three: Fire -- Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko! <3333.

And my couplings of choice are:

Zuko/Katara
Sokka/Suki
Toph/Aang

Yup Zutada fangirl all the way so yeah that's about it. ^_^

.....holy shit I just realized something..

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MOMO AND APA IN LIVE ACTION CG

Yip yip. :3

Actually based on the most recent trailer, I can safely say that Appa looks great. The CG work is done to the point that while he looks realistic, he does seem to have yip-yip'd his way right out of the tv screen (same fur color, patterns, and all that).

Edit: Just watched an up to date trailer and holy shit, I'm stoked. I got goose bumps from it, and Kitara is perfect I think. And that kid's ability to be as flexible and nimble like Aang is is amazing.
Me too! I think they're all perfect!

Welcome sneakerpimp441!

Eek!! Me either! I'm so stoked for it! I promise the first time I see Appa I'm gonna shout "APPA YIP YIP!" in the theaters.

Yuppers! Night's daughters are HUGE fans of the show! They even have a Momo and Appa plushie. So he knew he had to get them right!

Okay, question for everyone!

How many times will you see The Last Airbender in theaters?

Yeah that's true, but he got that really cool space sword and we didn't get to see him use it as much.

Yuppers! That's why I love Sokka so much <333 He's so intelligent and so unique. He might not be strong but he's a genius.

I don't ever see a movie more than once in theaters. >_> But I have a date lined up to go with my anime buddy from my ex-work on this one. :3

Shweet! If it's good, I'm gonna see it at least twice!

Can I join? Toph was my favorite...though I have a feeling the movie is gonna ruin the series for me.....or worse cut my fav character out! D:

So far Sokka and his sister's characters make me want to shiver

Welcome! But wha?!!?

Sokka and Katara's actors are perfect!

They aren't black. I know you like sokka's char. Didn't you make the sig out of him?

I just like things to stick to the story as much as possible. Who's that blonde chick in yur sig?

That's Princess Yue. The girl Sokka dates for awhile. And Sokka and Katara weren't supposed to be black they were like Native or something.

Thanks for the welcome, Princess Bubblegum.

I think that the whole Water Nation tribe were based off of the indigenous peoples of Alaska: the Inuits. I mean they do inhabit one of the coldest states we have, and it used to be a part of Russia. Just take a look at Sokka and Katara's attire from Book One--very reminiscent of the attire of the eskimos, dont'cha think? ^_^

Just saw the extended trailer for the film . . . it's going to take me awhile to even accept the actors they chose for the character roles. Eh . . . the effects looked badass though and the whole mood was just very anticlimatic. A lot of people have been commenting on the fact that they dumbed down the light-heartedness of Sokka's character.

Man, when I was watching the show races never occurred to me before. So when people get mad because of the races in the movie it just kinda flies past me. I don't get it.

Man I dunno, I always saw it sort of like this . . .

Earth Nation: Middle-Eastern/South-East Asian mix
Fire Nation: Predominantly South-East Asian (i.e.: mostly Chinese, Japanese, and Korean
Air Nation: Possibly Asian (exactly what . . . not so sure.)
Water Nation: Alaskan, specifically Inuits. Indigenous peoples.

But that's just me so naturally I felt that M. Night Shyamalan (I spell that right?) would respect that and cast the actors according to that guideline or at least just attempt to. But eh, I can overlook it when I go actually see it.

Like I said, their races in the show(or movie) never occurred to me.

Oh, they did! We see his ears in the latest trailer!

I know they weren't supposed to be black but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to these things. I hope they are at least tan.....and I hope they don't cut out Toph from the movie! can't wait to see it! :P
