Anyone pre-ordering FFXIII? Think GameStop will be putting in one of their extras with a pre-order from them? What do you think it'll be? As always, Amazon's price went down a little.

I'm personally not going to pre-order unless GameStop gives away a goodie with the game. I live in the middle of nowhere and everyone around here is too busy being excited about GoW 3 to beat me to FFXIII.

I don't see why this discussion shouldn't be allowed here. I've never actually preordered any game before, and maybe Final Fantasy XIII may be the big occasion to do just that. I'm not certain though. I'm not necessarily desperate for the game. By March, I will probably have waves of mock exams after another.

If a store does give me a reward for preordering, I'll probably consider, depending on what the reward is- even if it's a Lightning figurine.

I think I remember hearing someone else say that, where is that coming from? I don't think they would do that because they're making the Play Arts, or so I've heard. But, once I hear where you heard that from it may change things.

As for the little worried "not sure if this is allowed", oh dear that is my anxiety speaking D: bah

A figurine of a character may be possible, but I just came up with that idea for a preordering goodie from the top of my head. I didn't actually hear it from anywhere. I'm not actually sure what sort of rewards are given out.

Square Enix would usually release merchandise rather early. I recall something (it may have been flasks) that has images of Lightning, Snow and Vanille on them. They're probably out somewhere by now.

The figurines look rather nice. I love how the poses resemble their CGI appearances. But what's that blue thing that Snow is wearing? $40 for each figure seems rather steep. How much is that in British pounds? (as you can tell, I'm from Britain)

This is getting a little off topic now, so we should go back to the preordering conversation. The question is- which console shall I preorder the game for? I have both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in my house. The PS3 version seems more inviting for me...

Roughly 23 GBP.

I'm buying a PS3 specifically for this game. I mean, the PS3 does "everything". I also want to get ACC now, because of the blu-ray player. Anyway, I'm obviously going to do the PS3 version. Square's best games (in my opinion), were on the PlayStation. Rather, when they started doing games on the PlayStation, the quality got better. I think it would better suit the PS3. As far as LIVE goes, it's not very tempting to me. I recall some news about an online add-on to FFXIII, but you can hook your PS3 up to the internet so I don't see any losses.

£23 for a figurine...hmm. They're pretty and would look great on a shelf, and I suppose the quality should be rather OK. They're not designed to be played around with like superhero figurines- so the price can be justified if you intend to keep it displayed permanently.

Yeah, you're right about the PS3 version. FFXIII was originally going to be a PS3 exclusive. I've always associated the newer FF games with the Playstation name. I have FFVII both on disk (the second disk beng scratched badly) and also downloaded. I have all the PS1 and PS2 FF games. Having FFXIII on the PS3 will keep the "tradition". Having it on the Xbox 360 will seem weird. It wouldn't really belong there. Plus, it will be on one Blu-Ray disk with no required instalment time apparently.

I'm not pre-ordering because I don't think it's going to sell as well as some people make out it will, yes it's a massive title in terms of gaming, yes it will have attracted a lot of attention. But to me, it's not CoD:MW2, it's not the sort of game that's going to sell out everywhere within hours or have mass queues at every supermarket and gaming store going. I'll happily just pick it up during college :monster:

I'll pre-order it from Play or GAME if a figue if defo released. If not, Ill just get a normal edition from the cheapest place lol. I dont think people are going to go crazy over it like the COD release.

Quite true I suppose. If we're in Japan, then there will be queue after queue of excited gamers, with store after store flooded with people itching to lay their hands on the game like they did with Dragon Quest IX. Like I said, I'm not desperate for the game. Other people will probably think a similar thing. The west aren't as happy chaps when it comes to JRPGs.

But if I suddenly want to buy it on day one, I can always submit a preorder to Amazon and have it delivered rather than commuting to a shop.

I heard about the installment time. Are the times really that excruciating in other games, though?

I got Dissidia the day after it came out and was surprised that there still were copies. So maybe we shouldn't expect XIII to sell out. Luckily, nobody around here is a big FF fan. That's why I was kinda disappointed with Leona Lewis singing the song, because her first single over here was pretty popular, and I don't want the little girlies around here to get into FF just because of the song. Next thing you know they'll be on this forum . Erg. Completely off topic though.

Anyway, for me, it ultimately depends on what GameStop gives away, if anything. And in another thread there was something about a special edition being made. I will definitely get XIII the day/somewhere around the day it comes out, so I hope that SE doesn't get too carried away with the special editions and such.

Don't worry. Square normally just releases one special edition of their games. There was only one special edition of Crisis Core, and if I recall, Dissidia too over here. Modern Warfare II has quite a few special editions that are rather unnecessary such as the Prestige and Hardened editions. That was Activision going crazy. So far the FFXIII PS3 is a special edition- Japan only. I wouldn't have minded preordering that.

What I wouldn't mind getting my hands on is the inevitable International edition that will come later. But seeing as though we'll never get them in English- oh well. And on a random note, Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love was an amazing song still unbeaten by her.

I don't usually pre-order anything. I think the only time I did was for the last Harry Potter book a couple of years ago. My mum actually pre-ordered it for me really.

But yeah, I don't think it's really necessary.

I've never had problems with getting Final Fantasy games before when they'd first come out so I don't think I'll have a problem this time.

I might pre-order.... If there is a goodie, like others have stated. I mean, I don't think I will need it the day it comes out. It would be nice and all, but I can wait a week more or so... So maybe. Probably not.

I always feel strange going in and buying something the first day it comes out. I feel like a creep. Like I was just oozing to run in there and buy it. Honestly, it makes me feel like a Twilight fan would have been with the books.

But then again, I always think extremely weird things like that

I'm thinking about just learning freakin Japanese so I can play these exclusive games.

I've only really pre-ordered a game if it comes with bonus goodies as a reward for being a lil' eager gamer :3

Of course, has Square ever given such bonuses before? And anyways, I know my game store won't offer up their own special bonus. Cheap lil'...*grumbles off inaudible cursing*

I have pre-ordered a few games even if they didn't come with anything, like Dissida-although I find out only two other people aside from me pre-ordered it at that store. Clearly not something that I had to worry about running out :P

As for FFXIII, I think I will pre-order it, but as Merc said, for some reason games like CoD are more sought after than something like FF. I think I won't have trouble buying the game if I just walked into the game store, but just for the heck of it I'll still do it to feel all proud of myself :awesome:

Well of course I will pre order it. Its gonna be by far my favorite game ever! I will pre order the limited edition though if they come out with one. I wonder if there will be any pre order bonuses.

I don't really feel the need to pre-order it. Even if it does sell out on the first day, I will be able to pick up a copy later so there is no real point in pre-ordering it.

Even if it does come with goodies, there would be little point in pre-ordering it. I don't have any use for a figurine or an artbook or whatever it may come with, after all it's the game I'm after.

Plus there is the point that (if the release date is accurate) the game will be released around the same time that Uni starts. So I probably won't even have the time to get the full enjoyment out of it if I was to play it as soon as it is released.

I dont even own a PS3 or 360 yet and im preordering. Ill be preordering the 360 version though but not like it matters which version u pre order there going to have plenty of copies. I dont give a crap about the collectors addition or anything, ill get it though if it doesnt cost more but most likely it will. I hope they will be handing out free ff13 posters when im waiting in the huge line at gamestop like they did with wrath of the lich king.
