Are you a chicken?

Chicken Knife. Though I don't run from battles any more times than I have too, there is nothing stopping me from spending time running away from easy battles intentionally to build up its power.

Brave Blade is for the fool, Chicken Knife is for the tr00 winnars! ^_^

in most cases if im in an area that ive been in sveral times i dont like fighting weak monsters so i run. so i chose the chicken knife.

The Chicken Knife is more beneficial for everyone. It gets stronger every time you choose to escape while the Brave Blade gets weaker when we escape.

Braveblade would definitely be the way to go for me. I hardly ever escaped battles in FFV, but when the time came for me to get the weapon, I totally skipped the part and just went on to beat the game. I could go back to it from a previous save point, but I think I'd go with a more powerful BraveBlade and do it by winning battles instead of running away so many times.

I went wid di Braveblade i don't ever run from battles. you die you just die and start back over. Di only time i frantic like a punk is a boss battle and you can't run from dose.

chicken knife ftw, kinda like the ideal weapon for wussies like me. plus brave blade gets worse if u run, so when u WANT to run (think annoying random encounter, especially when getting mimic), ure in a dillemma.

not that far but i'll take the chicken knife, makes it easier and i like to play games to have fun not just go from random encounters for hours just because i can't kill a boss.

that and i tried to get shiva early and theres that enemy that u have to run from because it back attacks and does nearly 999 damage when you about level 10, you should know what one i mean

I picked the braveblade although it's already lost abit of power because I legged it from a couple of battles hahaha. I do tend to stay and fight if I can although sometimes Il be faced with like 6 arses and Il just think stuff that I cant be arsed. I get too impatient sometimes -__-

But I dont run away n\anywhere near enough for me to ever choose that chicken knife crap. I need to level up not do a runner :gasp:

Id say braveblade, because it does not automatically make you you run away from battles, but thats just me.

Sorry for reviving an old thread

Sorry for reviving a thread that hasn't been replied more than 6 months, but I think this is better than creating another one...

I need to ask, does the Chicken Blade attack power go down when we fight often (assuming that the Chicken Blade is in its max stat)?

Taking the Brave Blade is impractical for various obvious reasons.

The Brave Blade starts out very strong, but it will only get weaker and
weaker. It will never get stronger. The Chicken Knife, on the other hand,
starts out very weak, but it will only get stronger and stronger, until
127. It will never get weaker. It's already obvious that the Chicken Knife
is the more practical Weapon to take here.

Many people have argued that the Brave Blade is more powerful than the
Chicken Knife, since the Max Power of the Brave Blade is 150, while the
Max Power of the Chicken Knife is 127. This means that a Max Brave Blade
will always deal more damage than a Max Chicken Knife.

THESE PEOPLE ARE WRONG!

Let's take a look at Tseng Instructrtrepe's damage formula for both Weapons,
assuming that they are both Maxed out. Also, let's assume that you are at
Level 99, with all Jobs Maxed out. That leaves you with Monk's Strength
and Thief's Agility, 50 and 40 respectively, without taking individual
Character Stat Bonus and Equipment Bonus.

Brave Blade Formula
Damage = (150 - Def) X [ ( 99 X 50 / 128 ) + 2 ]
Damage = (150 - Def) X 40.67

Chicken Knife Formula
Damage = (127 - Def) X { [ 99 X ( 50 + 40 ) / 128 ] + 2 }
Damage = (127 - Def) X 71.6

Do the Math yourself. From this formula, it's pretty obvious that the
only way that the Brave Blade can deal more damage than the Chicken Knife
is if the enemy's Defense is anywhere near 100.

The reason why Chicken Knife is more powerful, is because the Agility of
the Character will also affect the damage. Brave Blade does not have that.

And that's without taking into consideration the individual character
bonus and equipment bonus. The higher the Agility, the more powerful the
Chicken Knife will be. Being a Knife, Chicken Knife will also halve the
enemy evade. Use !Midareuchi Command, to reduce Def to 0, and see the
even greater difference. A great disadvantage is the Chicken Knife's
Escape activation. That is the only disadvantage, compared to all the
advantages the Chicken Knife have. (Unless you consider the Selling Price.)
Oh, and Brave Blade is a better weapon for Goblin Punch.

Test this out for yourself. My Chicken Knife is a lot more powerful than
the Ragnarok, which is only slightly behind the Brave Blade. "

Chicken knife, because only real men run from their battles =P

But seriously, Id rather not be pressured into never running away

I've never run, just not me.

And come on, I tried this once. Going through the game up until the choosing point, saving, then running 254 times and trying this thing out.

So I get into battle, I do 3000 to some enemy. I'm thinking AWESOME.

Last enemy, I hit attack.

Escaped.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU---

That is why I cannot pick the Chicken Knife.

(and if you can't run during a fight, it won't just let you attack anyway, you'll end up losing your turn :P)

I'm a chicken :(

anyway.. i got the chicken blade, i think it's better in the long run because you don't have to worry about loosing power by running away.

I'll probably get the Braveblade during my next play-through just to switch it up

Well, this is very interesting because I also had never found either one. I'm not sure which I'd pick...although the argument that the chicken knife never loses power seems to be a pretty potent argument. I'm sure there's lots of stuff I missed because I didn't have the strategy guide and I only consulted a GameFaqs walkthrough once, when I was stuck. (I couldn't find the adamantium, I believe it was!)
