I didn't see a thread like this anywhere, but I only looked through a couple of pages. One thousand pardons if I copied someone.

I've noticed that most people seem to have an unusually hostile attitude towards Apple products. The people who like them tend to REALLLLLLLY like them, but the vast majority of the population tends to take an extremely critical attitude towards iPods and the like.

Why is that? Did Apple commit atrocities to these people's families that I don't know about? Or are people just angry that they don't have the products in question?

HELP ME UNDERSTAND.

You have some legitimate hate for Apple, particularly if someone has bought a product from the company and it runs into problems, and ends up having only an unpleasant experience using thje product(s). I know this isn't exclusive to Apple at all, but it doesn't help that Apple's products are generally seen as being overpriced by a lot of people. :hmmm:

And on the other hand, you have the general hate bandwagons that you commonly see for other names such as Justin Bieber and the like, where the people don't really have a legitimate reason to vent anger at this particular target. If I were to come up with some reasons, you will see that they're mainly dumb ones that don't make much sense. I know some people who are generally wary of the 'Apple culture', how it's gaining domination, eclipsing other products and brands and making them feel compelled to "must" buy an Apple product...or else. There's a chance that a lot of vehement haters may see Apple as being a threat to individualism and that its consumers are just brainwashed sheep buying everything that comes out of its factories. Perhaps some just hate Steve Jobs for doing so well. Look at how much he is earning and how prominent Apple is nowadays. Microsoft certainly got a lot of hate and Apple's just no different.

I don't hate companies irrationally. I think there's a lot of pretentiousness about the whole Apple brand, and some of the marketing really gets on my nerves, but they do tend to make good and semi-original products, a few of which I own. I tend to agree that there's a lot of wanton hatred around for what is essentially a reasonable brand. Perhaps these people cannot afford an Apple product, and are dredging up dark memories from their childhood when their poor parents had to scrape together a few pennies to purchase counterfeit apple products from the local 'man with a van'. I know what you're thinking - pure conjecture - but I'm hardly the kind of guy to deal in pure conjecture, am I? Yes, that's right. I have read these people's minds. They are walking along a dark path of twisted obsession. They will not stop until these bitter memories are wiped from their mind with the blood of vengeance. We must DEFEND the Apple brand with all vehemence.

iTunes monopoly
Overpriced
iPad (IMO its the dumbest thing people could buy)
Latest update made the iPhones slower by a degree
iPAD 2 was told to be as twice as fast...it was proven to be exaggerated

Overpriced killed it for me bro... :lew:
Apple products are pretty much unneccesary if you think about yet..

Apple iMac is the only one I would buy if I ever had the money, because its the one thing every producer should have to make music on.

Its superfast and pro logic is the bomb even though I never tried it but Ive seen it.. :wacky:

iTunes monopoly

Not sure what you're referring to here. It doesn't have a monopoly on much of anything except its own products (you must use iTunes to interface with its iPod, iPhone, etc).

Overpriced

Perhaps...but the equipment is of generally higher quality. One could argue that Sony televisions are overpriced but people don't rag on Sony.

iPad (IMO its the dumbest thing people could buy)

Another debatable point. You capitalized the most important letters in that statement...it's your opinion. If you've ever actually used one you'll find that they are nifty little gadgets. I certainly won't say they are necessary, but if you don't want one, don't buy one.

Latest update made the iPhones slower by a degree

Do you have a source on this? I'm an iPhone user and I'm curious as to what you're talking about.

iPAD 2 was told to be as twice as fast...it was proven to be exaggerated

Because no one has ever exaggerated performance claims before...

I only quote your reasons because I feel that those are the most typical reasons that people give.

Apple iMac is the only one I would buy if I ever had the money, because its the one thing every producer should have to make music on.

Its superfast and pro logic is the bomb even though I never tried it but Ive seen it.. :wacky:

And this is the most interesting hypocrisy I see in Apple haters...they claim to despise the company yet inevitable say "but I would get <insert Apple product> if I had the money..."

I think the Apple "fanboys" are the greater evil here than the Apple product itself. The common argument I hear about their computers is that they can't get viruses. Why would a hacker make a virus for a computer that 5% of the population owns? Maybe I'm low-balling my number, but you see my point. They want to hit the higher seller, which is not Apple.

I can also proudly say that I don't own any Apple products, and I can afford them. Not even an iPod. My Zune does just fine for me and it's easy to put music on to. A friend of mine had an iPod (older generation) and it was very ass backwards to put music on to. Back then I had an iRiver and I currently have a Zune, and both of them are as simple as drag and drop. Done. I'm a simple man and prefer things that are simpler to use, like Windows over Linux, but that's a whole different debate for another thread.

Going to go with bullshit on this one. I've had many friends/co-workers/acquaintances, complain about how easy their mess breaks. Also, I really would rather not have to run my music through a 3rd party program to listen to music. I would especially like not using a third party program where the license agreement tells me that I can't use it to make bombs for terrorism.

Seriously, read the license agreement, it's a fucking riot.

Another debatable point. You capitalized the most important letters in that statement...it's your opinion. If you've ever actually used one you'll find that they are nifty little gadgets. I certainly won't say they are necessary, but if you don't want one, don't buy one.
And telling people that their hatred towards a company is wrong isn't your opinion? I've used one, it's a giant iPhone that can't make phone calls... or multitask. All in all, a rather useless gadget.

Because no one has ever exaggerated performance claims before...
Only Apple does this with everything. From computers, to gadgets, to the latest operating system. They typically promise you diamonds and you end up getting a tiny silver nugget that's covered in shit.

And this is the most interesting hypocrisy I see in Apple haters...they claim to despise the company yet inevitable say "but I would get <insert Apple product> if I had the money..."
Well then, fuck those guys. I don't care if I was the richest son of a bitch alive, I would never, and I do put emphasis on never, buy or own an Apple product. If I was gifted one, I would tell them to take it back and not waste their money.

From their advertising campaign, to their CEO, to the fanboys, I hate everything about Apple. I've never met such a motherfucking hipsteresque, pseudointelligent, brainwashed, pretentious bunch of dipshits in my life.

Except for maybe FFVII fans.

As far as the products go, I've got no reason to own one. Anything that I can do on a Mac, I can do much better, and more efficiently on a PC. Dan hit the nail on the fucking head about the virus part. Who wants to make a virus for a Mac when only 5% of people own one? Besides, if your computer is crawling with viruses, you're a dumbass and you probably deserve it. One less asstard crawling around the internets.

Not only that, but for a computer that has less than half the functionality of a PC, why the fuck does it cost twice the price? I can go out and buy a decent gaming computer for $1000, and to get half that with a Mac, I'd be looking at $2000+. (Lol... Gaming Mac, look at that oxymoron)

If I wanted to spend that much money for something that would do me no good, I'd go out and snort a mountain of coke.

My hatred for apple started back in the day when I had a hostile debate with an apple freak. I loved my Desktop, they loved their Apple and it just turned into a big fight... ever since then I have disliked apple.

I also think they are very overpriced for what they are... you're paying for the logo. You can buy an awesome gaming PC for under $2000 but a good apple laptop costs you $2500 and above.

I am also a hater of ipad. it is so pretentious. So first we have Iphone... (which I like) then they create the Ipod touch... an Iphone without the phone!! why??? why not just buy the iphone?? THEN they make the Ipad... just a GIANT Ipod Touch.. Again, just buy the Iphone...Yippee its bigger and faster... just buy a laptop you can do so much more on it.

I also think Apple is used as a status thing. If you own an apple product you're superior to others (this is not true for all people though) but its the feeling I get from some of the people i work with who have an iPad.

Anyway, thats just some of the reasons I am an apple Disliker. I can't hate them anymore coz I do love my iphone a lot.

The myth that Apples can't get viruses is ... well... a myth. I've seen viruses on a Mac with my own two eyes, and have used anti-virus programs designed for Macs. So. There's that. Also, my fiancee uses a MacBook. She's had to have the internal hard drive reset/wiped/fixed on three separate occasions. Meanwhile, my Compaq PC that I bought in 2003 made it through 7 years of use with only having one System Restore wipe in that whole time period. So, based on my experience, the claims of better quality are exaggerated.

Though I am by no means an Apple hater (I do like my fiancee's laptop.), I wouldn't personally own an Apple computer. It just seems like Apple puts things in different places just for the sake of being different. And the list of things that aren't compatible for Macs, or don't work properly without certain downloads, is ridiculous and aggravating.
