I've come to realise that I am obsessed with collecting DVD's. Quite often I will buy movies that I haven't seen yet and more often than not I will have no idea as to whether I would like the movie or not. If a friend (or anyone for that matter) so much as mentions a title, I will often just buy it as opposed to renting it.

Basically if I've seen a movie and I really like it, I will pay as much as $40 for it. If I haven't seen a movie, but someone recommends it I will pay up to $20 for it. If the store is having a sale where movies are going at $5 each, I will buy absolutely any movie with a title I recognise.

Naturally this habit has lead me to buy some really bad films, but for some reason I care more about building my collection than buying good films

Anyway, does anyone else here do this?

Nah, I'm quite the opposite. I have to either know the film inside and out beforehand (i.e. a Marvel film, a movie made from a book, et cetera). Otherwise, I'll read up on that film, maybe watch a few trailers or just take my friends' word for it that it's worth the purchase.

No actually. xD I have very very few DVDs, I only buy like, series boxsets for Desperate Housewives, Family Guy and American Dad. And I have every episode of Sex and the City on DVD.

I'd rather just download movies, or watch them online. I don't really have that many DVDs...Like, when I was younger I'd buy a lot of videos, but since hitting my teens, I rarely buy DVDs.

I have way too many dvds, ive settled down a bit recently but i used to buy anything. I would simply read the back of the case or if i liked the title id buy it. Sad thing is most of them are now scrated or broken, so ive wasted all that money for absolutely nothing.

Sort of, although I'm not quite that extreme. I'll not bother buying a DVD unless I'm pretty sure that I'll like it.
Of course that has led me to have a pretty big DVD collection. I've got at least £2000 worth of the buggers. :wacky:

I have quite a lot of DVDs, I never ever rent them, always buy. Sometimes films which I've already seen or seen bits of, but quite often ones which I haven't seen but they have an actor/are directed by somebody I like, or just that I've heard a bit about them and they look interesting. If that's the case then I usually do a little research first, like I read reviews and watch trailers, and sometimes I try to watch part of the movie online first to see if I'll like it. I like having a collection of them though, it means I can watch them whenever I want and can choose between any of my favourite films.

My biggest problem is mass buying CHEAP dvd's if theres a 3 for 20 quid sale on, Im there, buying everything in sight, and half the time I wont even watch said DVD's...Ive also been known to buy a lot of shit dvd's just coz they are only a few quid...should tell me all I need to know by them being so cheap really <_<

I'm addicted to bargains

I always rent my DVD's. Until I rent them again so many times I buy them.
I rented the Viva La Bam series so much that I finally went looking for it and I got the whole series/seasons for just around $20, and I would have spent so much more renting it so many times. :wacky:
Same goes with my Family Guy, I got the whole box set for Christmas, it was around $100 for every DVD out at that time. xD
I would have spent so much money renting so many Family Guys. >_>

yup 3 for £20 deals are what gets ya. I also have a habit of buying used dvds from amazon they dont cost that much but adds up once youve bought about 50. Its a crazy waste of money.

Yeah I sometimes do that too, the thing is though, that since I've watched them so many times I'm usually sick of them by the time I've bought them. xD

Ahaha but with me I can watch things so many times without getting bored. x]
I watched the same Family Guy episodes every night for bout' a year or half. :gasp:
I get bored easy, but I don't get bored of something easy. >_>
