Alright, I'm sure we have all seen the advertisement images at the top of the forums. I'm just wondering if I am the only one who does a double take at them whenever the images that include females come up.

I mean, I'm not complaining. I can dig a hot cartoon girl as much as the next guy, but I'm just wondering if that is totally necessary. :p

Thoughts?
 
Just wait until the "meet hot asian babes" advertisement comes up ;D

I downloaded adbock purely for this but none of these buggerlugs will tell me how to work the bloody thing >=(
 
I never realised how bad the adverts were until my PC died and I lost adblock.

I don't think the site owner has any power over what adverts are displayed though, but they annoy me in general anyway so I just adblock the lot.
 
The ads make me laugh.. like if somebody says 'gay' in a thread then you get lots of ads for same sex dating agencys. :wacky:
 
I'm not going to lie, it's pretty funny. And no, I don't believe the site owner has any power over that all. He simply inserts the proper code into the template and then the rest is handled by google or whatever company he is using for the ads.

In return for the ad-space, the owner gets a little bit of money that he uses to pay for the site fees or just whatever he wants.

I just think a few of these are kind of more provacative then they need/should be. :)
 
Why don't you guys just use the Firefox browser and the AdBlock plugin? That takes care of the problem and you don't have to whine about seeing OH NOES! HALF NAKED WIMMINZ! It's useful to have for plenty of other sites anyway.
 
I noticed that, when I was reading the "Is Axel Gay?" thread and there was an advert for gay models or something along those lines >_<

But they don't really bother me, I just ignore them. Though I did get duped by the "10 rules to losing belly fat" one :neomon:
 
I don't know how to block them but they make me lol too, especially those dating ones xD
 
Right click, adblock image :elmo: Quite easy really, and like Mark said, it blocks alot of those annoying ads on myspace and other sites.

GO UP TO THE AD.

RIGHT CLICK

SELECT ADBLOCK FRAME

AT THE END OF THE SITE'S URL (.COM, .NET, .ORG, OR WHAT BLOODY HAVE YOU) PUT AN ASTERISK THERE LIKE THIS:

http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/*

THAT WILL BLOCK EVERYTHING FROM THE SPECIFIED SITE YOU WANT TO BLOCK. :wacky:
 
I would just go to Tools>Adblock>List of All Blockable Elements>Find the one that reads "www.googlesyndicate.com" or whatever the ad company you're wanting to block is>Click on that>hit Block all from this address.

And wallah.
 
I had adblock but it didn't work too well for me so I uninstalled it. The ads don't bother me, never have. It's probably because I'm generally inattentive, and they took down the image of the woman with nice nails that Bam was admiring during FFF Survivor. D:

sum1 mentioned John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the 'Hot Men' thread and an old pic of the Beatles came up.

i know that wuz a boring post, but I did manage catch the 'Hot Indian' ad.
 
I don't pay much attention to the ads. They aren't annoying to the point that I feel like I have to block 'em.
